hey all. i am looking to get my first AEG, and right now, it is between the TM SG-1 and the TM M16a2. i want a medium range rifle that will perform well in sporadic firefights. i will mostly be playing in the open and in wooded areas. i love the look of the SG-1, but i am wondering if it will be to big (im 6'0"). i also like the fact that it isnt as common as the m16 and her varients. another dowside is the lack of a cheap, generic magazine pack for it. which one would you guys go with?

I highly suggest you take the time to locate and read DumboRAT's Newbie Guide. Pay specific attention to the section on AEGs as the information there is highly valuable.

To answer your question, both guns perform roughly the same. The same Version 2 mechbox poweres both gun. The difference in inner barrel length and motor powering the gun makes the choice almost entirely based on aesthetics - which one looks better to you.

The other physical differences can easily be summed up by locating a review on the G3 and M16. This would require about 1 hour of work tops. But after that hour, you will have learned for yourself. Knowledge is power. The ability to obtain that power lies in your hands. So, in other words, You have the power at your very fingertips.

The X AEG vs. Y AEG Debate is largely that of which you like the looks of better. That being said, you are the best person to answer your own question.

i had a SG1, they are long but are pretty nice, only fault i found in it, was that the Bi-pod on teh front wobbled so i just removed it.

PyroKid has a M16A2 and i (im 6'02) have held it, and such, and it is a, well, how do i say this..."Comfortable" gun to hold, i found that it is easy to manuver, and basically it just "Fits" like a glove i guess you could say.

i Also have had the canch to hold Kennedy's SG1 (While dell/Sgt.Smith) was digging for something) and it too "Fit". i am only 2 inches taller than you, so it's gotta be about the same for you, so now bassically it comes down to, as texx said, what do "YOU" like??

The SG1 and M16 are virtually the same length. try both out, see which one suits you better, and buy that one.
And for Gods sake people, stop strating new threads about the SG1. Use the morking search function on the forums. >:(

the shape of the gun is the only difference... oh yeah and the inner barrel is slightly longer in the m16...

The G3 has a shorter barrel than the M16 @ 469mm vs. 509 mm. The 60mm is roughly 3-4 inches, and the difference is not really enough to make that much difference in accuracy or range. You would get the same rough comparison of effective range comparing the M733 to the M4.
