Hi everyone,
I was going to announce the video when I released the full website with all the updated info (new rules, registration, what vehicles and sponsors have committed, etc).
I have it 90% done and you'll see a full update in the next couple days. I'm really looking forward to Vigilance this year! :)

You aren't the only one.... Squad Hindenburg is on that like a monkey onna cupcake! OpVig was our first event as an organized team and we all had a blast. We still talk about it whenever someone brings up mudbugging... "Are there leeches in here?"
Our medic, The Gunshow, even has her OpVig kill rag hanging in a place of honor in her room, even though there really were leeches in there....

UPDATE:
Thank you for being patient while I finished the teaser and updated the website. It is all finished and updated with new storyline info, event rules, and media.
You can view the website at www.operationvigilance.com which has all the game info and the new trailer video for Op Vig 5.
Registration is now officially open (accessible through the website) so early bird players looking to save some cash, get a limited edition printed Op Vig 5 kill rag, and get on the team of their choice are encouraged to pre-register for the event. When you pre-reg, you'll get an email with instructions on how to access to private team boards for pre-game planning.
We did add a new game mechanic to the event series; magazine restrictions. This is detailed fully in the Event section, but every play is now only allowed one hi-cap and then all the additional non-winding magazines that they want to carry. Only SAWs can use box mags.
Some sponsors are already on board this year, including Airsoft Extreme, Altama footwear, King David's Airsoft, and Combat Sport Supply. Additional sponsors will be added to the home page as they come in.
I look forward to seeing everyone back to Operation Vigilance 5 this year as the story picks up where it left off last year.

Does this mean you want me and the "Danger Ranger" (AKA Bed Bug) back this year?
I had way too much fun playing a medic last year.

Hey everybody,
Now that the epicness-that-is-Freefall is over and done with, I'll be updating Op Vig prep soon and also opening up the private army forums. We'll probably be using Google Groups again this year. Only pre-registered players are allowed into the private army forums.
A fair amount of sponsors have signed on again for this year and you can find their banners on the frontpage of the website. As more confirm and send in prizes, you'll see their banners get posted.
We have more special effects this year for the night game, the Russian armored can has joined up, and 2 APC/truck vehicles have also confirmed for this year.
More updates to follow... head over to www.operationvigilance.com for more info or to pre-register.

UPDATE:
The private army forums are up and will be open to the pre-registered players shortly. In order to get in on the planning (and get the discounted price) make sure you pre-reg for the event. Once you register, you'll be invited to the forum of the army you chose.
The Ditchpig vehicle has confirmed attendance this year, putting the total event vehicles at 4... the Russian Armored car, the Ditch pig, the white Danger Ranger, and the Company APC truck. Each team will get a minimum of one armored tank-like vehicle and one support APC vehicle.
Returning to the event series if the Special Forces team for each force. They will be an important part of the game and their missions will be tailored to their overall objective. Their goals may or may not be alongside their overall army's objectives, but their purpose in the game is very important. If you think you might want to assist the Spec Ops team in their missions, make sure you pre-register, get into the private army forums, and get involved in their discussion.
This year the Operation Vigilance storyline is taking both armies down a course that may mean the destruction of one of the them. This means one of the armies may have a chance to wipe the other one out... for more info, pre-register and get involved in the private forum or see how it unfolds on game day!

I usually have the registration go until 10pm, which is also the end of the night op. The idea is to help get as many people through registration as possible on Saturday night.

Both teams will have a Spec Ops role. It is up to you (the player) to pre-register and get involved in the Spec Ops role that your force will have.
Any inquiries about teams/membership in Wisconsin should be kept to their respective message boards and websites.
The private forums will be opening very soon (next day or two) and will only be accessible by pre-registered players.

Private army forums are opening today via Google Groups. If you pre-registered, you should be receiving an invite that is being sent to the email address that you used with PayPal to pre-register. Some people have an email account they use regularly that is not tied to their PayPal email address... please check the one assigned to your PayPal account.

For the respawning, is it going to be mainly 1 team each has 1 respawn location?
I have a suggestion I would like to make if this is the case is that : You could have area that you capture that allow closer respawns, or each team has 2 mobile respawn , or 1 mobile and 1 stationary.

Agent_P90,
I had thought about it... but instead gave each team an APC with the ability to remove bandages from wounded players, basically "refreshing" them if they played it right.
Mafia,
There will be a safety course on Saturday at 5pm. If there is enough of an early bird crowd, we'll do one at 2pm as well.
ReconDoc,
I've been out of the loop for almost 2 weeks (GenCon and then CodeName Thunder... woot!) so I am getting caught up. You should see an invite in the next day or two.
Thanks!

So i joined the MEA private group and there is only a few people there and almost no tactical discussion. Will the group membership grow or is this it? No one is really talking except Kerrik. I dont know if this is normal or not...just wondering.:)

I agree with that there is like no one posting on the forums for MEA so I decided to make a post. Idk if it is because of Round up or what, but it seems like the attention towards Vigilance is weak. Kerrik none of this is pointed to you at all by the way just trying to see what is going on

I haven't paid the Pre-Reg Yet But I'm Getting to It..In that Sense of the Google Groups I would say wait until Batman's event [Round Up] Is Done with and I bet you people will just transition their attention to Ryan's Event.

Seth and Cody,
Some events have a lot of pre-game discussion and some don't. Keep in mind that by joining the group you already have access to plethora of additional info; maps, missions, battlefield perks, etc. This is all info that is only available to pre-reg players, so just because there is not an active discussion doesn't mean that the info in the forums isn't valuable. Also, the MEA commander's email blocked the google invite so I just got him setup.
I also wouldn't make it known that there isn't much discussion... by doing so and posting here, you just gave the UN team a glimpse at the current tactical discussion of the MEA... which may hurt your team on gameday.
I agree with Will; between Round Up being this weekend and it just being a busy year, people may not be in the tactical discussions much. Every year the Op Vig discussion isn't extremely active, but it is a good source for the missions, maps, and storyline.
Keep in mind, again, that only pre-registered players are allowed access to the private forums... I know a lot of people who are going but just have not pre-registered yet, so they would not be in on the discussion.
Patience, eager fellows, patience... :)
EDIT: Cody,
If you have a device that emits sound/noise as a claymore/C4, bring it with and show it to me during registration. Thanks!

Mhmm Like Ryan Said alot of people are just busy and haven't found their paypal accounts yet or their wallets to Pre-Register But they're coming Slowly But Surely. I know myself and two team mates are still "Getting There" So To Speak. But Hell We are undoubtedly going to play the MEA. Quick Question For Kerrik Is Sangord Ghadir Farid Making a Return?

Is there anyone in the Madison area that might be willing to give a lift to/from the event? I have a friend that would like to attend, but transportation is problematic since I can only fit two people in my vehicle. He has no gear to worry about (I am loaning him everything) and would not have a problem skipping the night game.

Hey everyone,
I wanted to post another update.
Event prep is rolling along and the day is fast approaching. Make sure you keep the following topics in mind...
PRE-REGISTRATION
Pre-registration ends SUNDAY, AUGUST 29TH AT MIDNIGHT. If you pre-register, you guarantee your spot on the army of your choice and the first 100 registered players receive a limited edition printed Op Vig 5 kill rag. There will also be a pre-registration line that will go faster than the day-of registration and you save $10 on the entry.
SAFETY COURSE & UNDER AGED PLAYERS
If you are under 18, then you MUST have completed a qualifying airsoft safety course and your name must on an accessible list for you to play. The MAA BATC, WAA AEC, and Gary's boot camp (day long course, not the small pre-game course) are all examples of valid safety courses. Under aged players must also bring a Lupine Productions waiver and an Apocalypse Paintball waiver signed by their parents or legal guardians. Then, under aged players must wear a full paintball mask in order to play (this is a field rule). If you need to take a safety course, there will be one on Saturday, September 4th at 5pm and if there are enough early birds we will run one at 2pm as well.
SPONSORS
Several more sponsors have signed up for donated items for the prize giveaways. We're up to 3 AEGs and a handful of other good items.
The current sponsors are...
- Airsoft Extreme
- King David's Airsoft
- Altama Combat Boots
- Combat Sport Supply
- Evike
- Tactical Milsim Magazine
- Crazy Cromag's Airsoft Emporium
Thanks and I look forward to seeing you out at the game.

While we were doing the UN practice today on the Wolf Recon field (You guys are the bestest, especially Kerrik) It was hot, and people needed to hydrate. Just be careful who's watching, as demonstrated below.

Prof,
Replied, sorry, missed it.
Everyone else,
Pre-registration has officially ended and it looks like the turnout will be on par or a bit larger than last year.
A lot of people have emailed me saying they need forum access... I have sent an invite to EVERY email that was used for PayPal registration. Keep in mind that if you pre-registered and use a different email address, I will not know that.
If you have not received an invite (or it got eaten by spam filters) then please apply for forum membership based on the armies below.
PLEASE NOTE, MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE YOUR FULL NAME, EMAIL, ETC IN YOUR APPLICATION TO THE FORUM! If I don't have that info, you will not get access. I have to be able to cross reference your email to the pre-registration list.

Hi everyone,
Just a few last minute updates...
I will be leaving for the field early tomorrow. From this point forward, I will not have access to the internet. Any PMs or emails sent to me will not be looked at.
There are a lot of nice prizes for the giveaway from numerous sponsors, so we'll have plenty of stuff to give away Sunday night.
The weather is looking AWESOME for Vig this year! Cool and sunny both days from what the weather channel is saying. This should be very helpful in keeping the players safe from the heat.
We will have one vendor onsite tomorrow (King David's Airsoft) and then two vendors on Sunday (King David's and Toybox) so the attending players will have some equipment to check out.
Although I have material available, it is impossible to know exactly how many players will be there on game day... so please, if you intend on going MEA for the event, bring a shemagh or a patterned material that could be used for one. It helps out the event because every shemagh brought to the event is one more that I can keep on hand in case people forget.
I'm very much looking forward to bringing you all a very exciting 5th installment of Operation Vigilance. See ya at the field!
Ryan
