Hey guys,

long story short, the bar (www.meetatthebar.com) i work at has very large indoor volleyball courts, now during the winter; Nelson Field (paintball only field) has indoor paintball in Green Bay inside the volleyball courts. Hard to understand i realize, but its a 150' X 75' area, heated and enclosed.

Now heres the deal, they use it for speedball and things like that, i have been talking to the owner and he is very interested in setting up some airsoft events here. Now the main goal of this post is to check interest on how many people would come down for a Saturday or Sunday skirm. Keep in mind that this is an indoor course, heated, indoor plumbing etc etc. There are a few pictures here you can check it out http://www.nelsonfield.com/Field_Pics___Videos.php

The pictures really don't do the course justice. Now the owner and I will start hosting events as long as we can get a decent crowd. I haven't airsofted in a year or so, but before that i was rather hardcore and know how to run events. The old vets around here will vouch (yo to the old TFD members ! )

Out of curiousity...what will it cost and will they require full mask to play?

I know my friends and I would consider a trip if we could throw in a pistol-only match or two.

From what I have been talking to the owner, with how his insurance is setup; its looking like 350 is max fps with .20. Full seal masks are required. I believe hes planning on charging $15. I think he is charging that from the paintballers and they also get a $5 food/drink voucher for the bar, so im assuming he would do the same for the airsofters. On with the questions!

Edit- I will check on the age limit.

Just to clarify, do you mean full seal goggles or full face masks (paintball masks)?

Just as a heads up, last time I played at an indoor paintball field, many of the doritos (I think that's what those inflatable obstacles are called) were ruined. It wasn't entirely clear whether it was due to the airsoft BBs (or how Xtreme us airsofters are while playing ;) ) though, but wanted to give you guys a heads up, I hear those can be costly. [Side note, the above event had a 350 fps limit as well.) Needless to say, I never heard that they did another airsoft even there.... but they told us everything inside would handle it.

PS I'm only posting this because I saw a few photos with the inflatables, if you don't plan to use these anyway, then just disregard.

Heh, Well I hope they wouldn't use them then or at least Get some Wooden Palettes and Random Acme Storage Crates. That'd Suffice

Age limit looks to be 14...im still trying to get a solid answer though. And they don't use the inflatable obstacles, its all wood structures and such. Thanks for the concern though DK.

14 as an age limit for CQB? That's a major turn off for me. Sorry, I don't believe I'd be willing to partake with such a low age limit. It gets bad enough in the open field with all the "youngsters", I'd hate to see what it would be like in an indoor area with kids and 350fps bb guns.

Yes I understand what you mean but most older airsofters take that too much into account as Its for over 18 year olds who actually can legally Buy BB's at your local Wal-Mart. Well Take into account that every year you get older every year more people learn about the sport of Airsoft. Then Every year they get older they get closer to 18. So Tell me why you dislike the "youngsters" so much because I usually have had problems with pricks on the field who are at least 20-30 years old whom can't understand what taking their hits is, This isn't directly aimed at you so don't take any of this personally.

For me the age limit has alot to do with the fact that I would feel no shame making Joe Blow 23 year old cry because he didn't realize what 350FPS at 10 feet feels like on exposed skin. On the flip side I feel like poop when the 10 year old with the springer gets popped and tears up because either he didn't get it or his dad thought this was a good idea for him. That and most of the time they are so blind sided by pain that they just stand there and keep asking to be shot. My last paintball experience is why I will never play with a youngin again.

That really sums up why I'm not a fan of having anyone under the age of 18 in a CQB game. Yea there's some real d-bag older people out there, but I don't feel bad emptying an entire magazine onto them if they don't call their hits. I'm personally not a fan of having to deal with little Tommy's mommy and daddy who are angry because their kid stood and took 120 rounds because they thought they were too "tacti-cool" to call their hits.

I understand that not all kids are like that, but I've spent way too much time around ignorant parents to realize that its of course never the kid's fault.

Good luck with the planning though, Its exciting to see talk of an indoor site. Especially with it being in Green Bay it'll be nice to not have to drive so far to have to play.

Yeah I totally understand were your coming from. Last time I remember having this problem was at Plague with a Fat Kid and a chainsaw going spray happy on dead people lying on the ground. I understand I've gotten dirty looks for simply saying "Yeah that was funny I caught you off guard!" Then the kid runs off and reports me to the manager because I lit them up to many times. But I digress Not all Minors are bad. I have one on my Team :D

I understand people not wanting to shoot at a kid who is 14 years old, but they really shouldn't worry about it. Sure it hurts, but they walked onto that field. No one forced them, they are doing it on their own will.

I understand where you are coming from.

You've actually sat and talked with the minors parents? lol
Why... Why would you have to sit and explain it to them if they knew what their child is doing?

Yeah its all a matter of who hasn't grown up from playing army in the woods with wooden guns and such. Its just a matter of who has matured.

Yeah Well most know or tend to exaggerate what the damage of a plastic sphere can do to their child but they usually required that they wear more protection and have all the waivers signed etc. etc. Safety First. and If that doesn't work then they'd most likely get tee'd off

i think the age limit should be 14. Just because most of the people on my team are 14-16. In all the time we've played, even in cqb, we've never had someone cry... We have had some blood though... lol. If your a kid that wants to play airsoft you just gotta know that it hurts sometimes and expect that.

I would absolutely be up for this.
Given enough notice I could put the word out to my group, I know a lot of us are going stir crazy with no airsoft.

Good find Vanac!

Hah, yeah I know what you mean.
I don't have a 360, so I've been organizing tactical gears and messing with different setups all winter.

Soon....
