View Full Version : Wargame Field 12-4-2005 Skirmish

31 Oct 05, 06:57 AM
First to clear up a matter that has come to my attention- several people have asked if the age limit has changed to 10+ for playing. The answer is NO, the WAA rules still apply except for a special posted event like the beginners game which will come again next year.
So again the age limit is still 15 and up to play.
New Skirmish
Where- The Wargame Field, click on the (wargame room) below for a map and waivers.
When- Sunday 12-4-2005, Briefing 10am, skirmish start 1030am, ending at 4pm.
Who- Ages 15+, AEC not required. $10.00 field fee.
What- Special assignment missions.
Supplies and snacks will be available.

Skirmish missions-
Players can sign up as teams. These teams will be given missions at the field one team at a time, while the other teams play the OPFOR.
The aggressive Team will be given a map of the field and told to meet certain requirements, find a certain location and report what is at the site, or maybe a sniper mission, Kill a VIP at a certain location. Time limits will apply.
The other teams will be send out on the field as OPFOR they will not know what the mission of the striking team is, so they must patrol the entire field.
This will be a good chance for new and old teams to try their stealth and tactics.
You may sign up for any size team you like, (2 minium per team) if you dont belong to a team I will take all the independents and make a provisional team.
Any questions?

Looks like i cannot make it. My mom is refusing to drive me. Its a real pain considering that every single saturday she goes driving around with her boyfriend or on his motorcycle for about 5 hours, but she cant spend 2 hours to drive me to an airsoft operation and drive me back home a few hours later.

that would make for alot of driving fish. Madison up to Green Bay/Pulaski is more then a couple hours. Then you'd have to drive back to Gary's place (about 1-1/2 hrs). Game, then repeat in reverse order. Unless you have a hybrid car and alot of free time I don't think that would work too well.

Vigilante

I am moving the start time up to 10am, briefing 945am. I should be at the field anytime after 830am.
The first team will hit the field at 10am sharp.
So far this is what the teams look like-
VSN E-unit 2-5 players
RIOT 3 players
Echo 6 players
DRASI 3 players
G.O.D. 4-6 players
Van 3 players
Independent- 4-6 players
If you would like independents to fill out your ranks PM and let me know otherwise if you fill confident with what you have that is fine with me. Should be great training for the teams.
Let me know who else has a team that wants to get involved.
Right now I am looking at about 6 teams, each team will have 45 minutes to accomlish their mission, starting at the top of the hour and ending at 45 after the hour, they must be at the ending point by 45 after to complete their mission.
The next team will have 15 minutes to get their briefing and begin at the top of the next hour. The game will begin at the top of the hour weather you are ready or not.

Excuse me? 34 Isn't that cold. Granted it is still possible, but not that cold.

RTO
28 Nov 05, 05:25 PM
34 is just enough to constrict blood flow to cause frostbite. but it has to be prolonged exposure with little movement to cause it to happen. chances of it happening, assuming temperatures will be that cold, are there, but not imminent if you keep moving.

but the foot and hand warmers are a good idea, yes

but after all, this is wisconsin, and for those of us who have lived here our whole lives.. 34 degrees F isn't really all that bad. once it starts to hit -5 and below that, then you gotta worry about those things fallin off ;)

Looks like there will be 12 teams
These are the time slots for running the operations, please pick a time that your team would like to start their operation.
10am 2 slots
11am 2 slots
12n 2 slots
1pm 2 slots
2pm 2 slots
3pm 2 slots
Each mission will run for 45 minutes, so the next team in line must return to the safe area no later then 45 after the hour to recieve its briefing.
Each team will be running indepedant of the other team in the same time slot, however you will be able to communicate with it. Only the other 10 teams will be aggressive towards you.
If you sign up for a slot make sure your team is ready to go at that time, the enemy will not wait. You must start on time to get onto the field without being detected by the enemy.

So far this is what the teams look like-
VSN E-unit 2-5 players
RIOT 3 players
Echo 6 players
DRASI 3 players
G.O.D. 4-6 players

Remember briefing will be 945am, start time 10am, I will brief the first two teams at 930am, so make sure you get ahold of me as soon as you get to the field.
I will pass out maps, but please bring a pencil (pens will probably not work in the cold) and someting to write on, you will need these to complete your missions.
One other note if you wish to bring any other device that would help in a recon mission you are welcome (ie. Binoculars)

I honestly dont' see a point of a tralier running the whole time, with ELECTRIC heat nonetheless, when we could just go prepareed and be fine maybe. Cars have a deacent supply for heat also if your in desperate need of it.

Honestly though, 20-30 degrees F.. its not all too cold if you just wear warm layers and bring some gloves and a stocking cap, and hand/foot warmers.

It kinda seemed like everyone started (recon teams), in the same position or close to it so the E.M.R. boys just kept running to the same spot and chasing/being slaughtered by the recon team.

dont think EMR will be down for ne more winter games, well most of them and kudos to all the teams that went up against the countless number of tangos. (average 6-8 man teams going up against like 20, ugh).

P.S. - RTO is still warming up

Great game, thanks to everyone who showed up.
Again as I posted on the original thread this was meant to be training type game for the established teams. Most teams found at least one and maybe two of their objectives which is a credit to their teamwork This was meant to be tough.
I will plan another one of these type missions but in the spring when the woods will be a little more full and it will be easier to conceal your movements.
Just a note for winter play and something that maybe should have been brought out before this game, one important item, bring at least two pair of socks and shoes, and also two plastic bags which could be put into your shoes if they get wet. That way the plastic will keep your feet dry even if your boots get wet.
Thanks again, see you all on the 18th.

lol Dark loved it, especially the last game lol. But I think the stealth missions were good, since it got all of us a bit more together, especially the new guy you put us with Gary. Me being the only one that knew where everything was lol I beleive it made us all closer. As well we gave the new guy a code sign too lol. All in all I think it was a very good skirmish, just shows that I need to learn to be more stealthy. As well I liked how I didn't even go through a hi-cap the entire game.

i had a good time, in spite of a few issues (http://www.wiairsoft.com/forums/showthread.php?p=14378#post14378) resulting from the cold. And as other players have already said, it gave us a good opportunity to work together as a team.

Yea, the fire helped alot, my fingers were frozen after a bit and sitting out and eating lunch, I had to dip them in the fire pretty much, but warmed em up good. Thank God for handwarmers as well.

Fire = Good, BUT...

The only thing with a fire at a game and sitting around it, that i noticed, is every time you go to warm up, and you get your gear and everything, and then once you play and go out into the cold weather and the wind and everything, your bodies temperature was "reset" of sorts and you kind of had to get used to the cold again. Granted, it was great when one side of my body was soaked, it helped out immensly, but i personally dont' like to get to used to the fire. Makes me colder than when i started.

But thank you gary for having that little stove. It saved my day by letting me play and could have even saved my life if it had been worse.

in the end I beleive it just matters on whether or not you keep yourslf active. Most of us after we died found out this, that we would get cold while we're waiting for the next game but if you moved around alot you'd keep warm. I guess the fire was good if you were having some of the MREs since some of those were frozen, but if I'm gonna have some again, I'm gonna get my WW2 Helmet from downstairs and use it as a bowl lol.

this was my first game, I was the newber with team god quickly labeled #3, I had alot of fun, and it was a great workout, and on top of that i got 4 kills, honestly I didnt expect to get any so I cant complain. It was pretty hard to be stealthy on the recon mission as we were pretty much squezed on both sides but the game was more then fun and I will definately be attending as many games as I can. Cold? I was sweating most of the time until I had to wait for the next game.

Honestly what was the point of that one?

Gary, is there anyway that we'd be able to do like hot chocolate or coffee there. You got power, so if one of us brought down a coffee maker could we pay you for some power useage?

Or I could just bring up a microwave and we can nuke the water and mix in the powder.

Let me try to say this as nicely as possible:
Just because somebody posted something in a thread, does not mean that you need to be the first person to reply. Heck, unless you have something useful to add to the topic, you can often get by without replying altogether. This way, when soembody tries to read a thread, they don't have to go through 20 pages of useless crap to find a meaningful thread. But then again, what do I know, I'm old.

Or save money by not having to lug a possibly expensive microwave up there and just bring a small coffee maker that does everything that u need it to in the ammout of time it takes to load up a hicap and wind it. PLUS, doesn't really use as much energy (I THINK??)

EITHER of wich though, would be a nice thing if Gary would be ok with it.
