but I didnt see any for the mp5. someone told me to wait, cuz as of now they arent the greatest quality. I guess I can wait for now...
Sipmly put, I said IN MY OWN OPINION they are not the greatest quality to me. And I do not recomend them. They are expensive to buy and while you might not get a lemon and might get a working one, the ods of breaking something inside of a magazine are always a risk. It has happened to me a few times and it can happen w/o warning. Why dump 150-200 dollars into one magazine that might only work once?
Go for mid-caps or hi-caps, and just get lots of carrying equipment.

I know NS uses one, and aex has them. They have a CAW motor driven one, a TOP windable drum (1000 rnd) and a sound activated double mag. You can always build your own by modding a hicap, but I doubt you'll wanna go to all that trouble. If your worried about quality and how they work in the field maybe PM Night Stalker about his experience.

yeah, i had a TOP drum for my M733 a while ago. It lasted a few times plinking, and at the summer AEC two summers ago. Then it just broke. Its a piece of crap, just get a ton of mags, so u can fill up all the mag pouches on ur vest.
Thats one of the GREATEST down sides to a box/dum mag. Theres really no place to store it unless you buy the box mag "holster" of sorts, or a butpack to carry around yoru drum mag in. But then after you run for a while, all the jarring and smaking and possibly hits agains the ground when trying to evade fire by hitting the deck pretty quick? yeah, possiblity to break right there.
Just stick w/ the mags that fit in your vest! lol
I know this isn't a C-Mag, but Hero Arms' MP5 Drum holds 500 rounds. If you don't care about the form factor, it sounds like a good idea. According to AEX, its "sound activated" so I guess you have that to worry about. Most people I have spoken about agree with Tim and Castor - Top Drums Suck.
But there is a positive sidenote to Top Drums sucking. The likelihood you would actually need to use an MP5 for the type of suppressive fire you could provide with a high-capacity drum is fairly low.
High Capacity doesn't give you any real edge that couldn't be accomplinshed with two or three hicaps, double that in Midcaps, or quadruple in Standards. For the price of one drum, you could buy 60 Star Lo-caps and probably a vest to carry all of them - thereby giving you roughly the same ammunition capacity, but essentially "not putting all of your eggs in one basket."
The edge you might have with a drum magazine could far more effectively be addressed by uising that amount spent on internal upgrades....
Don't Do Drums...
But I want to be able to hose the field with as many bb's as possible without having to reload. That way I don't have to buy any LBG or Molle gear. i can just dump ammo in my fanny pack. ;)

I got one on right now. It's were I keep my wallet, lip balm, 2 M4 springer mags and my .12 bbs. Some times I put a bottle of cologne in there so I can smell good for the ladies.

I wonder, for the average drum mag "user," how many gearboxes/parts do they go through in a year? (Be it, that the user is heavy on the trigger: because he has a drum). Compaired to an average player/more conservative person.

Come on now, I know people who use locaps that are too heavy on the trigger. Be fair. ;)

My gearbox is still working a-ok. AND for all the doubters, I use a 9.6v battery too. LMAO

lol, i am just ass-uming... i know, i know... Think jarred gave me a 9.6 w/ the GR16, that w/ the gun, ugh, bb wall.
I believe that most of the G&Gs claim to be able to handle 9.6v batteries no problem. the M14 claims it can handle a 12v, but I'm not going to be the one to try it out.
Send me the gun, I will!
I hate you!

What's so bad about 9.6v batteries? :s After I put a M100 in my gun it's all that will work (if i use a 8.4v; instant jam). The motor just doesn't get enough juice to turn over the gearbox.

Sorry, forgot to mention the specifics. It is a TM M733 with a M100 spring and systema steel bushings (also a systema pinion but that's pretty minor).
After putting in the above the gun may shoot about 200 bb's semi or full auto with a 8.4v (fully charged of course ;) ) but it eventually jams around then. with a 9.6v it will go until the RoF slows down noticably (about 6-7,000 BB's).
Not that it really matters right now because the gun is out of order due to constant shimming problems with the first gear (beveled one the motor pinion meshes with) which causes it to jam no matter what I do to the motor tension screw (little metric hex screw in middle of butt plate on pistol grip). any suggestions would be helpful at this point because I have had the gun apart 6 or 7 times already and have spent about $300-400 on it and I am at the end of my rope with messing with this thing. Thanks.
Oh, and sorry for going of topic. If I can't get this thing to work soon I may be typing in the For Sale section next.

oh, about mid-caps I just recently bought a box of 8, 100rd magazines off of Ebay from a one "airsoftshooting" for about $60 shipped. they came from HK but only took about 5 days to get here. Their plastic, but it is a nice solid plastic Definitaly (sp?) a high quality ABS but dense like pvc.
When I origanily (sp?) ordered them I planned on puting weights in them right away but when i got them two factors prevented me from doing so.
1. they are pretty solid and a nice (not light but not really heavy) weight due to the plastics they are made out of.
2. their is literally no way to take them apart. no screw holes no tabs, nothing.
So they feel right but do they work? Answer: Heck yeah! When my gun is working the extra 40 or so rds is definatly a big bonus and they feed flawlessly.
In conclusion i definatly recomend these mags their affordable (8 100rd magazines for about $60 bucks shipped) they work great and if you lose one at a game you won't feel so bad about it. :D

In that case.......Buy a Mini Gun, and use the "Backpack-Mag" <(i Guess thats what you could call it?) that holds...i Believe...20,000 rounds (Not positive....ask Dell for the specifics, he knows all about it.) Not to mention the 150 BB's a second prettty much gives you a "BB-Hose".
you gotta wonder what kinda upgrades you'd need to make it shoot fast and not break on you though. anything shotting that fast kind worries me about being able to fire RELIABILY and what not.

Ooh, I thought I could make a fanny pack vest. 6 fanny packs, 3 on each side, might as well just call it the real american 6 pack...even though I already have one, just not 100% visible. For any of ya guys that wanna see it , just give me a jingle ;)

hey did anyone see the beretta .50 cal airsoft rifle? where would you even buy .8mm pellets? lol... about the whole magazine thing, i got 10 of those star mags. (30 rds. each) boy i hate them.. i wish i got bigger mags, although i just got into it so i had no clue. but thanks for info on the box mags i thought about getting them, so i could lay down some suppressive fire while i run from skinny tree to skinny tree!
If you ever want to sell those mags I'll always take some more.

ill keep you in mind. im kinda low on cash due to a ton of bills coming in, and my low pay rate!
barrett .50 .cal and its a 8mm bb that is projected from it (bought at most overseas websites that sell 6mm bb's). unless you buy a conversion kit for the m733 or i think they make one for the aps2 series sniper rifle.
a lot more companies seem to be lookin into that gun and i see a couple new ones here and there
As it has been fairly conclusively stated that drum mags are horrible in general, and worse for MP5s, I respectfully suggest the TM HI cap for the MP5ks where it is two short mags clamped together as found on Airsoft atlanta MP5k short mag (http://http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/images/tm_mp5k_hicap_jpg.jpg)
I have found with this amazing invention I can transport as many bbs easier, can still share, and can reload in the in any short breaks in the action... ammo galore (http://www.shortyusa.com/cart/viewitem.html?II=314&UID=1140692252-24.167.200.204&OldLoc=/cart/listcategory.html&RID=1&NL=&CA=12&kiosk=) for a price you can only beat by bying from someone like Gary or if he is nowhere near you hobbytown
