One of the things I enjoy the most about Airsoft is getting to know the people.
I keep thinking, “That one guy was really fun to hang out with. I never caught his name, but I’d like to hang out with him again.”

Well, what if you could hang out with that person again AND learn his/her name? Perhaps at some park on a beautiful late Summer day, while gorging on bratwurst, Doritos, and soda?

I’d organize it (perhaps with some volunteer help), and all you’d need to do is show up with your own food, drink, sleeping/camping accommodations, and possibly bring some games you want to share with people.
I'm thinking some weekend in September and preferably located in or around central WI.

We could have volleyball, cards (Blackjack, Euchre, $#!+ On Your Neighbor, etc), table-top RPG’s (D&D, White Wolf, etc), strategy games (Warhammer, Battlefield Evolution, etc), lawn darts, horseshoes, and other such games.
We could have gear swaps and silent auctions.
Maybe a Chili cook-off?
We could have a pot luck table where everyone brings a dish to share.
We can sit around and share stories, reacquaint with each other, talk about upcoming games, etc.
If you’re running an upcoming game or series, feel free to plug it and take pre-reg’s.

However, in order to get our “combat sport” fix in, we could do a Cardboard Box-Castle Siege using water balloon slingshots, boffer weapons, and nerf guns.
I already have the rules hammered out, and it would be a freaking blast.

You don’t even have to play Airsoft to come. It would also be a way to introduce your family, friends, and significant others to your “Airsoft friends” and show your appreciation to them for being understanding about all the times you’re too busy over the weekend to spend time with them. ;)

Be honest.
Is this something you’d be interested in attending?

If enough people show interest, I would get the ball rolling on the planning within the next few days.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone.

This is something I am seriously going to try next Spring.
The campgrounds with Group Sites I looked at are all booked up for the rest of the year, and about a month isn't much of a notice for what I'd like to do.
It can wait.

Besides, if we do it early next year, it will give people like Gryphon, Armsdealer, Kerrick, the TFD gents, and Beegs (and anyone else who is interested) the chance to make promos for their upcoming events so they can plug them at the picnic.
It'd also be nice if I could wrangle up some sponsors, hold a raffle, etc (proceeds going to a Charity or Non-Prof).
Kinda like a convention outdoors, except with barbecue, roasted marshmallows, various games, and a big-ass water balloon/boffer war.

If there happens to be an Airsoft Con next Spring, I might work this idea in later in the year - don't want to interfere. :)
However, if whe I do get a date posted and anyone might want to help, let me know. I'd like the event to be more fun and relaxing than work, so I may not plan anything too detailed or crazy. I'll organize, but the event would mostly be what we make of it.:]

Ciao, pallies.

Not sure if you have scouted locations or not but depending on the size of the group you could look into Bong Rec Area in Kenosha.

Though I am not sure where the populus of the Airsofters come from so there are probably better locations.
