Operation: Rainbow Redeemer

This is a fictitious military action fashioned after the Grenada and Panamanian assaults. The characters and locations are not real.

Location: Former Soviet satellite nation Kovenistan

Situation: The newly “elected” dictatorial government of Kovenistan, led by Valdimir Kolensky, is saber rattling and threatening the “acquisition” of the US Embassy and the US military facilities at Ft. Anderson located in the city of Bulgar. Ft Anderson is located in a strategic location overlooking European and Asian “trade” activity and is a key element in the US drug war as well as a calming hand on the stability in the region.
The newly “elected” government, which only recently attained independence from the Russains, has decided to flex it’s muscles and demonstrate it’s independence and unilaterally acquire foreign assets in a show of power. It is believed that Tumania and a collection of other former Soviet satellite governments have given their blessings and commitment of support to this action.

Threats: US interests are threatened including the US Army post Ft Anderson, the US Embassy to Kovenistan, as well as the Engineering University of Kovenistan. It is believed that other friendly nations interests are also at stake. Ft Anderson is a key element in the control of European and Asian drug trafficking and overlooks a facility, which mines at least 20% of the coal and natural gas the US consumes. Obviously, this is of a strategic interest to the US.

Well, the word "Rainbow" has some specific meaning...there are students from all over the world attending the Engineering University and their country men are worried about them.

Otherwise, there will be some Soviet style troops, some US troops, and some "others" :D

Heck, I'm in only if it gets to be -10 below. Lol, I love winter, but when ya mix airsoft (expensive guns by the time this game comes around) and clod and water, ummm.... Something is bound to happen because I'm a clutz. I trip over my own boots enough in the spring-fall with twigs and branches at Op... I'd hate to see what would happen if it was ice instead of a twig or branh. Already bruised my brain once because of that, and still got the bruise there, don't need to put anohter one on.

Back to skrimish discussion, as soon as I can request off for this game, I'll do so. It might be the only "large scale" winter airsoft game I make it too.:D

Okay guys -

I'm gonna need some volunteers - not a complete list as of yet, more later, but here goes for now...

1) 6 guys is marpat digital to play the roles of Marine guards for the US Embassy.
2) 1 person in civilian clothing to play the role of the US Embassador.
3) 6 people in civilian clothing to play the roles of engineering students.

These roles will all play importnat roles in the event as will others, more roles to be defined...

Event update - Col Maple will be playing the role of Valdimir Kolensky and Tiger Recon wearing their tiger stripes will play the role of his Kovenistan Elite Special Guards.

I'm coordinating other parts as we speak and will announce them as finalized. However, I still need people to play the previously posted roles -
1) 6 guys is marpat digital to play the roles of Marine guards for the US Embassy.
2) 1 person in civilian clothing to play the role of the US Embassador.
3) 6 people in civilian clothing to play the roles of engineering students.
as well as some NEW Roles
4) I'll need a large number of Kovenistan Army personnel dressed in woodland.

Zorro and others, all kidding aside, the Ambassador will more or less be a target...maybe armed - who knows. The Marines will be armed and defending the Embassy and the Ambassador...with possible alternate missions/objectives as events occur.

Event updates:

Task Force 44 has been formed of a coalition of multiple country's Special Forces including Delta, GSG9, SAS and others as a rescue force to protect the various citizens of numerous countries attending the Kovenistan Engineering University as students and to quell any intentions of "acquiring" US or other country's assets by the newly formed Kovenistan government.

Rumor has it as well, that Russian Spetnaz forces may be assembling at a point on the Russian and Kovenistan border. Currently, the Russian government has denied any such build up.

Additional Roles and Existing Role Clarifications

1) Task Force 44 - I need persons to take on the role of a rescue force made up from various countries...so uniforms will vary from OD BDUs, German Flecktarn, British DPM, US MARPAT, etc.

2) Rusian Spetnaz Commandos - I need persons to take on the role of Russian commandos dressed in black BDUs and other Russian camo/uniforms.

3) Students - will be initially armed with pistols and if rescued or killed will transition to Kovenistan civilian militia and will become fully armed. The participants will wear civilian clothing initially, but will eventually add full LBVs, ammo belts, whatever and possibly camo tops...pants must remain civilian.

More to come.....das vedanya.

My friend and I are thinking about coming but, we have a few qestions because this is our first game that we were seriously thinking about going to. I'm sorry if this should of been in the new comers instead of events. I thought I should put it here because its specific to this game. I noticed it didn't say anything about age limit. We're both 15. Is it ok for us to play? We're kinda under equiped. What do we need I have 3 standard magazines for my M4 S-system and a gas side arm and camo. Would this be enough to play? My friend has a famas with only one magazine and a gas sidearm. and we're lacking in tac vest department, we only have camo. We don't know how these games work. I heard organized games suck from some people and are unfriendly to younger people....So would we be welcomed? Sorry for asking so many questions.

I almost forgot one last thing, where is this course located? Whats it look like? Everyone keeps saying War Game Field where exactly is that? Near waukasha is maybe where i read it.

WGR field is located between batavia and cascade, it is up in sheboygan county, you have a good 60 mile drive ahead of you. It is located off of highway 28 and SS. I always thought it was 144, but it turns off sometime back and highway 28 and SS is where it is located, take SS west, and its on the right side about 300 yards. Ask gary for specific directions.

for the most part everyone from every team is very nice and you will enjoy yourself alot at this field for it being your first time. As long as you are not immature and do stupid things then every other team will welcome you with open arms :D . O and from what I have been through, you shouldnt really need a tac vest and a gun and a few clips will do just fine for a first game. You might want to get a waiver signed by parents ahead of time before going if your only 15. full seal goggles will also be needed (didnt know if u mentioned) all in all all the teams in Wisconsin have a good attitude and will treat u very well and i know for a fact u will have a good time O and from the looks of the weather IMO i dont think gas will work very well. Organized games are the best to play in and its easy to welcome new kids into the scene and playing at WGR is a good field and not to mention is incredibly cheap to

Well said Sanchez. I was also unsure about organized games until the first time I went to an event(BHD which was also run by Professor). I was'nt sure if players would welcome me or not and to my delight I found that just about everybody there was very helpful with every question I had and was patient with me.LOL! I would highly recommend going to a game at Gary's, its a good field for both noobs and advanced players. Well I guess thats all from me. I hope that this post reassures you a little. ;)

Scythe-
Most games at WGR are 15yr.+ events. Since you are under 18, you will need your parents to sign a waiver for the event.
As for gear, the two things I will suggest are a canteen and a radio. Both will be your best friends.
Don't worry about not having 20 hi-caps, a sweet looking LBV and all kinds of other random gear. I have every piece of gear you can think of and I still suck. The only difference is that I look good when I suck.
Since you have only a few mags, that means you will have to play smart vs. hosing down the field. It'll be a good learning experience.
As for how the game will work, Professor (who is running the event) will give a mission briefing before we hit the field. He'll let us know everything we need to know to play the mission. You'll find that the people at the skirm will be just like what you find in the real world. Most are friendly, some just don't care to talk to strangers and a handful of us (myself included) are asshats. Trust me when I say that you will make some new friends that day and also you will let everybody out there know who you are.
That's about all I gotta say about that.

Please feel free to take out any and all frustrations you may have by turning your automatic weapons in my direction."

Sounds like fun.

Intel Update:

First -
I have the extreme honor and pleasure to acknowledge that TIMMAY is working along side me assiting with the event design and OC responsibilities. A big round of applause for Timmay's assistance!

Second -
OP: Rainbow Redeemer will be two (2) two (2) hour skirmishes* -
10am to 12pm
Lunch, warm up, reload and raffel will occur inbetween
1pm to 3pm
*This means that all objectives will have to have been accomplished within the alotted time. Points will be awarded based on the completed objectives and winners will be determined based on the highest score at the end of the event.

Third -
There will be limited initial load outs for the teams as follows -
1) Task Force 44 and Marine guards- will be limited to 2000bbs (as close as possible) accomodated within whatever magazine configurations desired. Ex = 4 x 500 round UMG mags, or 6 x 200 round MP5 mags, 10 x 220 Sig552 mags, or 7 x 300 round M16/4 mags. If you have a limited number of magazines you may carry the difference in containers such as bb bottles.
****Resupply will be provided by airdrop or helicopter insertion.
2) Kovenistan Army and Elite Special Guards - same initial load out.
****Resupply will be provided via return to armory.
3) Russian Spetnaz Commandos - whatever they want/can carry.
****They may establish a base and return for resupply.
4) Students - same limited load out as TF44 and Russians. No resupply.

Please bring additional ammo and magazines inside an identifiable / marked container such as a small ruck sack or gym bag. Depending on what role they will be placed inside a duffel for airdrop, or inside a bunker or fort for resupply.
Please be honest about your load outs as you would you calling hits

Fourth -
Medic rules:
a) There will be unlimited regens at designated regeneration locations. You must however, place your kill rag in sight and walk/run back to the designated regen/medic station.
b) One person will be designated as a medic and must remain at the regen point. This role may be shared but all changes/swap outs must be radioed to an OC before the new medic becomes operational.
c)Also, the regen / triage location will be allowed to move - yes, it's mobile. Again, all movement must be called into an OC before the new regen point becomes operational.
d) A regen / triage location can be overrun. If the medic is killed or captured, that side's regen point will be non-operational for 10 minutes and a new location will be coordinated with the OCs afterwards.
***Please bring a kill rag.
***Points will be subtracted for not following the regeneration rules - 10 points for each identified violation.

Chronoing will begin at 9am sharp! All additionall briefing will be provided to the appropriate groups at 9:30am before the event starts.

Thank you, that is all.

Good looking game Prof. Quick couple of questions on the regen location; no planning things mind you but these issues might come up.

1. When it's moving, following notification to the OC's, is the regen operational or is it only operational once it's in its new location (i.e. has stopped moving and is at the new destination)?

2. What about "camping" at an enemy regen. For instance, a team overruns an enemy regen spot, does the overrunning/capturing team have to move on or are they allowed to sit and wait for the 10min to expire then recapture it, and so on?

2. Given the location can change, if it's overrun it proably won't be in the same spot so camping it won't be beneficial. Oh, and don't try following the medic to the new spot, remember, the medics can change too.

So if you think your team isnt given a fair chance supposedly, just remember we have limitations and objectives and "what if" backups for everybody.

With the ammo, is that for one person or for the whole team?

The ammo is per person.

And yes long as we can tell its a red dead rag.

Vigilante
22 Nov 05, 04:54 AM

Thanks Timmay for the clairfications. Yes, there is a balanced "objectives and points" list and a logical reason for the elements we have designed. In some instances there will be "if the, else" kind of objective changes too.

BTW, when Timmay and I place people on the field, please be patient until everything is set up and the signal is given. That means some of you will "be told where to go" :] and asked to wait until the appropriate signal. That means "go to the position and stay where put...do not wonder around...stay put. Do not attempt to gain some advantage by leaving your assigned spot to see if you can spot something. Please be patient...the wait will be worth it.

Going along with the medic/regen rules, is this to mean that there is both a medic, and a regen point? I'm not saying 2 poinits are needed, but what if the medic gets wasted, how do they respawn?

I like the idea of the "air drop" for resupply. Is this going to be on the mark, or can these drops be captured by the enemy?

Again, good points DB.

1) The medic is designed into the regen point to be sure that the players are regening at the correct position given they will be mobile. If a player goes to a previous location and no medic is there they have to continue looking for the current regen point. Which brings up another good point - bring a RADIO...it will help with a mike and ear piece...helps not to give away your position.
Yes, the medic can be killed or captured. If killed they will be told a location by an OC where to go and wait for 5 minutes before they can re-establish a new regeneration point. In the interiem...no playes will be able to regenerate until the new location is established. Once the new regen point is established they can distribute knowledge of it's location by any means available...ie. radios, word of mouth, etc. If captured, they must be taken to the other teams regen point and held for 5 minutes and then released.

2) The design for the resupply will allow for them to be potentially captured. The air drops will be made at the request of the TF to be dropped into a "hot DZ". The design of an armory also allows for it to be potentially captured. BTW, neither allows the capturing forces to use or move the captured supplies...just hold them. Which also means that they can be "recovered". The only team that can move the supplies are the owners.

If you have the uniform color then wear it, if not wear whatever is warm. Use common sense and dress for the weather.

RIOT would like to be on TF44: our ranks include Massacre, Ben, Bobgod(me), Agent P90, and one new guy, augy. SO, all above mentioned would like to be on tf44, all of woodland or marpat, most marpat. *

I bolded the ones you had on the list but did not know which team were supposed to be on, sorry for the slow and late response.

The more players we get the better the raffle prizes get, we are looking at giving away an AEG plus other items.

i do think health is a bit more important than a uniform so i agree with gary

wear what is going to keep you warm... before the game get to know the people who are on your team and then communication will be the key

just dress warm and play safe

Just a final note before the game,
MRE's and hot water to cook them will be available.
Sodas, and snacks will also be there.
Bring a kill flag these are required, if you dont have one you can purchase one for $1.00.
Batteries, BB's and other supplies will be available.
Bring extra socks, and plastic bags large enough to put inside your boots incase they get wet.
If you have the uniform first posted for the team you wanted to play on fine but again the uniform requirement will not be enforced, just dress warm.
Chrony will be available at 830am, game will start at 10am

No uniform requirement, if you sign up for a team, you will be on it, if not gary will stick you where need be.

Yes, the snow is still thick. In the heavily trafficked areas, it is packed down but still thick. I would say about 8 inches of snow or so is up there.

Hope to see ya out there.

Blitz, your one of the guys from CA.net right? Gary has offered in the past both co2 and hpa. I believe eric ness filled up his hpa tank at the field, but it was a 3500 psi one and gary has a 2500 tank, so the max was 2500. Gary can tell the specifics, but he did have an hpa tank. All you have to do is ask in advance because he doesnt normally bring the tanks to airsoft games as no one needs them normally. Me I have 2 co2 tanks so im usually good for a day, and in the winter I am using an aeg. Look forward to seeing a classic user there!

18 Dec 05, 03:05 PM
Blitz I saw you as I was leaving, I think, how did the hpa work? How bad did the cold affect your Kokusai? I know HPA doesnt freeze, but the sheer temperature may have hampered the gun a little. My M-14 only lasted for 100 or so shots and about 35 minutes of play time. I forgot handwarmers to put in its large stock and thus it didnt last long. I was just wondering how classics suffer in the cold, even if hpa powered. I have a tt p90 and a muzzelite that I wanna turn into a decent gun, but right now I just have 2 co2 bottles. Sorry I didn't say hello.

yea. thanx again gary, ur field is awesome. BTW- i have an issue i would like to share w/ u guys, but i dont wanna start a war.... i just want some input:

i noticed a lot during this game that people would assume someone was out. i was yelled at several times that i was out, and i could swear that the bbs werent even close to me (b/c i could see them). most of the time, i just called myself out to avoid confrontation, but i just wanna know what u guys do in this situation. i know that a lot of times it looks like MY bbs are hitting people, but i trust everyone to not cheat, and if they dont call themselves out, im just like "whatever, ill get u next time ;) ". please dont turn this into a flame war  , i just want some input!!!

Yea, I dont go by what I see, I go by what I feel. Even at 200 feet you can still feel them, if you are not sure, just call yourself out. I did that alot when I first started, I still do, cuz an honorable player is better than some indestructible transformer.

All I can say about the final hour is that every minute of the day lead up to such an epic conflict as to never be forgotten. Even with batteries failing, lungs dried from the cold air, people unable to feel their feet and hands, and water freezing in their camelbacks. The one thing that only got hotter was the action.

don't call yourself out because you just want to avoid confrontation. call yourself out because you believe (or at least give the benefit of the doubt), that the other player is/might be telling the truth. this is the point when everything else fails (visual confirmation and all), your only compass is/are the people around you (whether foe or friend).

the gear that we all were wearing yesterday, plus the adrenalin we all were pumping were enough to put "doubt" ahead of "honor." the entire team from both sides probably experienced what you described above, too.

i might have lost some good 10lbs. just running back to homebase (not good for my 35yr old knees :D ) or trying to find the medic everytime some yells to me "...hey... you're hit.." LOL

don't fret... just call/get healed by the medic or go back quickly to home base, re-spawn and re-join the fight. just like what you said, you (we) will get them the next time around ;)
