It occurred to me that there might be newer people on this forum, such as myself, who would like to join an airsoft team but really don't know any teams that would suit them well enough. So what I'm proposing is a forum that is a resume of sorts so when teams are looking for people they could just reefer them self to this thread.

just a thought.

I think that sounds like a good idea. Even though there is a team description area, some people may still be hesitant in a choice to try for a team by that area alone.

Hmmm like I said before

If you are going to vote on my poll please back up your vote.

What would this 'new' section have that the team description does not have in it? And why could this information not be in the team discussion section?

well see my thinking on this was that teams could search for individuals before even posting anything saying that there looking for a team even like a good example I think would be is......

lets say your a leader of a team and you need a sniper, support gunner, and a riflemen. So instead posting a long, dull thread saying that you need some new team mates you could just simply search the Looking for group threads. This is kinda what i think they lay out would look like.

-Looking for Team

Support Gunners

Riflemen

Snipers

Recon/Scout
]
Light Assault

Heavy Assault

Then what ever you think you would specialize in you could just post there

I also think there should be some sort of uniform to your "resume" and things that are required such as name, equipment, experience, and age. then other things such game types you enjoy playing where you live and maybe some personal things.

Ok, then I'm missing something here...

Let me make sure I understand...

You believe that a team could search this new section for individuals before they would post something like Prof's post that Echo is looking for recruits, is this correct?

Assuming yes-
Then I must try to understand, who is going to keep this section up to date? The players? So a player can update their own 'resume' as they see fit. In doing that a new kid that has no experience could say that they are specialized in sniper operations, while never actually playing a game.

I think that what your missing is that teams will contact the players that they feel are 'worthy' of being assimilated into their team. As CO of Group W RCT (a team that many of you have never heard of; because we like it that way) I am not going to contact a noob that I have never seen playing the game, and never witnessed their ability, to even try out for the team. I know that many other teams are the same. Most teams are trying to build a good cohesive team and one that works well with one another. To accomplish that they are going to want to see how you play the game FIRST, before contacting you for an 'interview'. As a player, it doesn't matter what you believe your specialty is, it matters how good you accomplish the goals that entail it. So, a 'sniper' that just says they are a sniper is not good enough, prove it, and prove it beyond a doubt. Then, maybe, you will be asked by someone to be on a team.

Now, there are some teams that would use this section, but to be honest, I see them going for warm bodies and not really caring one way or another what position or specialty that you have is. They just want to be a big team, and to do that they 'recruit' everybody.

To parallel, Echo has put forth a post that they are recruiting, and to that people have responded. If Professor witnessed you playing at a game, liked what he saw, do you think that he wouldn't have asked you to join already? The simple fact is that this section is not needed. And to be honest, is accomplished by an updated post to your intro thread in the new players' introduction will do the same.

As with many of my postings I want to add this disclaimer, don't take this personal, it isn't. Everyone is/was a noob at some time in this game. The first time I was ever in an airsoft game, they gave me command of the whole team. How's that for 'trial by fire'...

Just keep this in mind, for many of you; the desire is to be on a good team. To even be asked by some teams is honor enough, to actually be on a good team is a privilege and one that you will probably have to work on to keep.

Good teams are good teams because they recruit good players that work with the rest of the team and will uphold their end of the deal. They are always watching the players, even on the other side. They evaluate the styles and the tactics and determine if they are a good fit for their team. Then, if everything goes well, they may just ask you to be on it. But, the ability of a player to essentially 'pimp' themselves by submitting a dossier of their personal assessment and their specialty, is just not necessary. Because, it doesn’t matter what you write, it matters how you play.

So for me, I am going to have to vote 'No', this forum section does not have to exist.

Hmmm

Well All I really have to defend of that is if one was to say they are a "sniper" then not preform well at a field testing it would be a large crash and burn. they would look like a compleat fool and would prob. never be accpeted on any airsoft/paintball team

It may have been brought up in the above text, but I neglected to read it. Wouldn't it be easier to make a sticky thread of this in the Team Discription(sp?) area.

yes i think it would be usefull because, i am also new to this sport and i love it, i play all of the time with friends and havnt played at a field yet, so realy no one knows about me and how good i really am;). so this is kindof like a job website thing where someone posts there resume and a buisness can contact them, and if they dont answer the phone or anything well, hu i guess they dont get on the team, also to keep it up to date, cant the web automaticly send someone who has posted somthing an e-mail, lets say evey 5-6 months to ask if they want to renew it or if the info is up to date.

thats just my 2 cents (maby 3-4);)

I put a no vote on this. The overhead to maintain it and its usefulness outweigh any benefit. Your best bet to be recruited on a team is to go to games and play. Pretty much any game you play in you'll be put with people you don't know and you'll meet new people, some of them you'll like and some you won't. Depending on the turnout for a game, lots of eyes could be on you. Some teams will be actively looking, others not, but either way if you're someone who fits in their scheme they'll probably contact you in some way if they don't talk to you on the field. The reverse is true also. It's a less "official" way to go about looking for a team to join up with but it also saves you the hassle of joining a team and finding out it's not a match.

A couple of other things that would make a "looking for team forum" fiddly is the experience and role definitions, almost everyone will have their own opinion of both. By defining what you think you are you may also limit who looks at it.

I voted yes, mainly just because of the general handiness of the forum for new players.

But, after reading a few posts, Ghostbear's reasoning did make quite a bit of sense. More exclusive teams would probably find little use out of a whole forum section dedicated to people trying to find a team, and alot of the info people post up would be open to interpretation.

So, i favor Specter's idea of posting up a thread in the Team Discription area. It's there that people who want players could see it, and it isn't terribly high-maitenence.

EDIT: I just re-read Riken's post about how a long thread wouldn't work well. We could just have players put, at the top of their post "Role: *insert role here*". Then, the glory of ctrl+f could be used to find what people you want in the thread. Idk, just a silly idea, and it won't work well when the thread gets to be 10 pages long.

I voted "No" simply because it had fewer letters. "Yes" is an unfriendly word to those who may have a lisp. "Yesstth." That just sounds wrong to me.

Secondly, I don't think an additional forum section is needed.

I don't think a separate section is needed. As an alternative you could put details in your profile and add something to your signature.
