AAR: WGF Sunday May 4, 2008 "The Riots"

I would first like to say...

Thanks Gary for letting us use the field and for letting me host a game at the field. I would also like to thank everyone that showed up and hope you guys had a fun time. ;)

Here are the good and bad points of the game from the OC/The game's creator perspective,,,

The Good:
= It was a blast OCing a great bunch of players.
= It was funny to watch at many points of the game... Thanks John (Wolfram?)... ;)
= And so much more I can't remember...he....he.... :P

The Bad (not many):

= Wish I was better with public speaking because I screwed up the game breifing "little"... ;)
= I put TOO many rules into the game and almost screwed up the game flow... :-[
= Didn't keep up with SWAT's "murduring" sprees...he...he... :D
= This will be last/one and only Riots game because I want to go with more of a funny/bizarre/"wacky"/simple game style from now on... ;)

But all in all is was great day and now can't wait for the Starwars game... ;)

Thanks a million Jedi for an outstanding game, it certainly wasnt like every other game. The game started out very challenging trying to figure out who was good and who wasnt.

Thanks Echo (Doc, Professor and Wolfram or "hippi") for playing great rioters, you guys definately had a cool effect with the signs and the "hippi", im not sure how that emerged but it was a blast playing with you. None of the "you damn hippi" comments were personal, just making 100% clear, lol.

Thanks for the pics also Jedi, can't wait for the videos too, also yours doc. Hope they turned out good.

Personally I vote to run another one jedi, as said it's a game that is a big change from the standard game that is for darn sure.

Hey no offense taken. If I saw a guy yelling and screaming gibberish and running around with a rainbow cape I'd sure have shot him rather than deal with all of the crap I put you guys through:)

Jedi, I'd love to see another riot game. A few small tweaks and this would have been a perfect day of airsofting. I, for one, had a great time and would like to thank Jedi for the scenario and great props as well as Gary for the field.

One small rule tweak I'd like to see for any future riot game: Give each SWAT guy three cards. Each card would be one of their respawns. Shoot a civilian = loose a card / respawn. Give incredibly clear rules of engagement (hand on a gun = hostile) and make the rules of engagement very clear to everyone involved. This will keep the civilian deaths down and the suspense up for the SWAT team.

Now the civilian rioters will take advantage of the SWAT team pretty much constantly so make sure the rules of engagement change at a pre-arranged time (say 1 hour into the game), make the change a secret from the rioters (give the SWAT teams a slip of paper explaining the rules so that any rioter that complains has an instant rule clarification) so that the SWAT teams suddenly get a release from having to be so diplomatic. The change I'd suggest is a 3 warning and your shot rule (SWAT members have to yell a warning 3 times with ample response time for compliance, and when the rioter doesn't comply they may be shot)

Hurray the terrorists overthrew the local mass murdering police! Then we liberated the village from the villagers by blowing it up!... wait whut?

I thought the game went well, the police got very trigger happy though even with out being prevoked *shooting unarmed people in the back who are running away*. It was kinda obvious that Echo where the terrorists so that didn't help things... And only one towns person ever fought back vs us so it didn't help the police that the whole terrorist/village was against them.

The rules where not overcomplicated. With tweaks here and there this game will be worth playing again!
