I think it would be a good idea to open up a Real steel forum.

Care to defend your answer with why it would be a good idea?

Real steel and airsoft are two different beasts. This has been discussed in the past and always (by the WAA membership) voted against.
There are plenty of real steel forums on the internet. Why not hit one of those up?

I think it would be a good idea to have this thread because it would allow airsofters to know what there real steel rifle feels shoots like gear to get along with it, things along that line. For example: lets say hypothetically that someone really things that the TM PSG-1 gearbox system but they know nothing about about the real gun. So then lets hypothetically say that the person post a thread and someone who hypothetically owns PSG-1 and they tell them about the rifle and all the good things that go along with it.

And what is really the harm in getting this forum? Sure you'll need to assigen mods to them and things like that. Unless there is some sort of cost that one has to pay to make a new forum. I really dont think any thing bad would come out of this.

I can see how this would be relevant, BUT this board is the cleanest board i'v ever seen, and most organized. If we add one forum that isn't airsoft, then what about a forum just for millitary vehicles? there have being several threads discussing 'airsoft go-kart tanks'. and one thing leads to another and we have members joining that don't even care about airsoft. i know the likelyhood of that is slim but you gotta draw the line somewhere. i would have to say i disagree with that addition to the board.

My argument Riken, is that, if a person really wanted to know more about the real steel version of their AEG/GBB, they'd do what I do and either A) go check a real one out via a friend(21 to own a pistol... darn it) B) do research via books/internet or C) buy one yourself and learn the way of the rifle.

Real steal and airsoft rifles differ greatly, the closest guns to the real thing, IMHO, are some GBBs and the Systema training rifles. I've learned to strip a real glock (via my KWA G17 being similar in striping) before my friend learned to strip his own real glock(he didn't even know how to after owning it for 3 months).

Compare that to when I fired my KWA G17 and when I fired a real Glock 17... even putting the magazine was different... my KWA just slides right in, the real thing is a bit more of a slam (then again... I was firing a issued Glock 17 that's been brutally used and warn).

But knowing the real thing compared to airsoft doesn't aid much in most cases. The real PSG-1 and the TM PSG-1 are completely different, beside the size maybe.

As well, as storymaker made the comment... not a ton of all of us have real steel experience. The only experience I have is a couple times on the range with friends for an AK/Car-15/Mosin Nogant/Glock 17(with a fun .22lr conversion) and then a couple times on the shooting range with a Glock 17, Glock 22, and a M3 shotgun. I mean, sure, batman has a ton of experience with lots of guns with his military(?)/LE background, but the average airsofter probably hasn't held anything other than a .22.

If an airsoft gun's action and accuracy were exactly like the real steel, then I'd say yeah, it could be a good idea. But since a PSG-1 and an M16 could shoot the same exact distance and technically a very similar way, what's the point?

Another reason not to have a real steel forum is the unwanted attention it brings. It's one thing for someone's "dearest" to play with toy guns but when people start talking about the real thing ears perk up. There are people other than players who can pop in on the boards (except the member area) and their goal may not align with the spirit of the new board. It will undoubtedly beg the question "I thought they were toys, what's this?" What happens when it goes from talking about real deals to trading them or selling them? There are myriad boards and sites dealing with them, why not go there? I feel that in this instance it's best to keep the two seperated and avoid the headache.

Well just a quick FYI... if it were a member's only area, you not currently being a member, would mean that you couldn't view it anyway.

(When member section was stated above, it was referring to the WAA Member's section).

I would suggest that instead of a Real Weapons thread/forum, we have a 'What would you like to see turned into an Airsoft item' forum, but that would be pointless too.

One might as well say, 'Everything should be turned into an Arisfot weapon,' because sooner or later, almost every possibility would be suggested, and it would be nothing but a pipe dream anyhow.

Though, I DO wish there was more variety in Airsoft weapons.

Razor got it in one easy to follow statement.
Real steel belongs on real steel forums. We are trying to promote fun, safe airsofting, not trying to increase awareness of real weapons.
Adding a real steel forum is asking for trouble.
And thus far, other than the "it would be cool" stance, I haven't heard any compelling arguements as to how a real steel fourm would benefit the WAA or it's website/ forums.

i would have to agree with razor quite a bit, because if some city/state "polititions" doing research on the topic airsoft, came on to this site wanting to ban airsoft and read how one gun shoots at a couple thousand rpm, fps, im pretty sure that they would try to outlaw airsoft. just a senario unlikley to happen, but if airsoft was banned i would be plain ticked off.

as good of an idea that it is i have to say no do to the fact it would just be too much of a headake for the poor over worked mods on here.
(i would go into why its a good idea but i have neather the typing or spelling abilty to do so lol)
