Okay, I know it's early, but how was it guys? Give us all the details, and some pics too!
a moneys worth 3 hr drive for us city slickers. hats off to TFD for a job well done. maypole, i still wish you played US today coz u know how awsome my shots were today... fisher, you are a sick SOB! those pyros are fkn outstanding.... i want to push the button next time!
to afgans who came out in afgan costumes, you guys rock! i think it adds more into the game if you really play the part. and to those who actually made suicide vests, those rock as well....
kudos to Ghostbear for spearheading the afgans and of course, ronan and deamondogs RPG sure kicked the hell out of the infidels today.
my best moment was the landbridge slaughterfest!
to the QRF who ran w/ me today, you guys rock! I appreciate you guys giving us 360 deg. support
anywho, i only took a few pics.

Well, first off Props to TFD and APOC for the well run event. My voice is close to gone again, and once again congrats to the afgani side for taking the win. There were some few small issues, but things were taken care of pretty well. You know how things go when people get excited. Thanks again for the fun and entertainment.

Game was great. Apocalypse used more ordinance for pyro than Panama's entire defense budget. Always the best games at Apoc! Thanks to all involved for the great time.
I was Afghani, and spent a lot of my POW time pissing this guy off. He is especially offended by my camera.

Haha nice pictures Shogun. I had no problem with the camera, the CO was the one who was a little freaked when you reached into your pocket and starteed bringing something out! And the ROE said nothing against detaining a prisoner (or pretending to for a good camera shot) by keeping his face in the dirt. :)
Had a great time at the game. I took some decent film of the event and will probably cut together a quick little video based on it. Aaron and the rest of Iron Hammer, awesome job coordinating and leading us during the day... Blitz, I believe my squad was the receiving end of your slaughterfest on the landbridge.... Ghostbear, you're a butthead for making those suicide bombs... A-Ron, you're a double butthead for using one to blow me up! :)
I saw a very clean game and it appeared that people were having a lot of fun. The roleplayers really added to the game and I enjoyed interacting with them. My official CNN statement on the POW abuse (that I was witness to... I did not participate in) was that the "rowdy Afghani" attacked the guard first. ;)
I had a great time, Thanks to all those who spent the time to set this up.
Was nice to see everyone as well. It was more than worth the drive.
I'll upload the pictures tomorrow.... but I leave you with this gem of a video for now

The bad guys won. The game was alot of fun. My favorite part of the day was jogging to LZ Alpha with B_rik while he has Hillary on his shoulders when I turned to him and said we should start sprinting, well he started to pull away and I had to yell at him that he was faster then I was. She made it to the LZ and was airlifted out of there

Yeah this game was great and it was great to put some faces to the names. The night before was great and the game itself was great. Thanks all who orchestrated this and thanks to the US forces we sure did try.

A well played day ladies & gents. I want to thank each and every one of you that came. This was the 2nd Op I've ever organized (Op RUI was the 1st) & though I admit I tended to get a little short on replies building up to it, you guys made it easy (kind-of) once the game started.
I saw a lot of good sportsmanship on both sides & some pretty clean play. Only a couple small issues that were brought to my attention, but with the couple minor anouncements that I made at lunch I think those got better..... If they didn't, someone needs to tell me so adjustments can be made for the next game I put together in the spring...
For those of you who couldn't make it, Im sorry, as this was the last "Round-Up" game. From here on, TFD events are all going to be much more streamlined on rules & structure. Im putting the finnishing touches on a 1st draft of a rule set that will be used for our future events, that makes both sides identical. Uniforms will be woodland BDU vs. 3 color desert DCU ONLY and no other uniforms will be substituted or accepted, so Im going to tell you now that you have all winter to secure a set of each & don't bother asking if you can wear your favorate (Insert uniform type here) because unless it's woodland or 3 color desert, you can't!
More on that to come soon, but for now, thankyou all & also I want to say thankyou to SPARTAN PROJECT. Those guys stayed up with us all night & helped lay charges on the field. Andy needed the help & they answered the call, without having to... Thankyou guys!
Lastly thanks to Andy, Im sure there are a lot of pairs of underwear in the trash now, cuz momma dont like cleaning em when they are that fulla poop! I saw more then 1 player jump for jesus while Andy sounded his horns.
And now the nitty gritty.....Well, this may become an unpopular post, but there was an azztun of scoring corrections made, as I re-confirmed info..... With that said, this is how it all broke down...
Afghanis could score points through the following:
1. Collect Nukes. 150 Pts for each trigger under Afghani control at days end, (& now here is a scoring error) EXCLUDING THE NUKES THEY STARTED WITH.
At the end of the day, Afghanis controled the two they started with = 0Pts.
2. 50 points for every time the US base is overrun.
collected once, in the last hour of the game = 50 Pts
3. 10 points for POWs held for 15 min.
2 POWs went the full 15 min = 20 Pts
4. Spread disinformation by alowing US players to search Afghanis that are carring the cards with red writing / protect the 5 players carring cards with the correct intel, writen in blue. 75 Pts for each piece of incorect info delivered & 75 points for each piece of correct info protected.
3 pieces of incorrect intel passed on to US, through searches = 225 Pts
5 pieces of correct info protected = 375 Pts
ADDITIONAL TASKING:
Photograph a POW, while making political statement behind them & deliver the photo for broadcast on TV. 200 Pts.
Lure US players into a speciffic area, by broadcasting false info over the radio, then inflict high enough casuialties to destroy them or make them retreat. 200 Pts.
Kill Cards:
70 Pts total
Grand total = 1140 Pts
US could score points through the following:
1. Establish a base of operation & hold it. 50 Pts for every hour it is held.
Base held for 5 hours, before taken 3 min into hour number 6 = 250 Pts
2. Find Nukes, disarm & collect. 150 Pts for each controled at endex.
2 found & T.C.O. = 300 Pts
3. Eliminate Afghani command staff.
No kill cards turned in to OCs = O Pts.
4. Find and rescue US citizens. 500 Pts.
In the end, "AFCOM" (OCs) had to deliver "satilite intel" to the US to basicly tell them where the subjects to be rescued were. This is not a cut on them, the Afghanis just did a good job of keeping their cards close to their vest. Because of the fact that the task had to be compleated with encouragement from OCs, the US was only granted 100 Pts
5. Execute any other orders issued by AFCOM.
No other real orders were issued, as the "primary objectives" were still being worked on. = 0 Pts
6. POWs Held for 15 min.
6 @ 10 Pts = 60 Pts
Sub total = 710Pts.
R.O.E. violations, 5 seen by OCs at 20 Pts each = -100 Pts
Grand total = 610 Pts.

Sorry 79, I just wanted to get the hell to LZ, and get that doll out of my hands. ( at the time i thought she was worth 500 pts.) but that was fun as heck!
Overall, good game guys.
It was nice to see some old faces, nice to meet some new ones.
From and OC stand point, I have to commend most of you on playing honestly and keeping the day in good humor.
Overall, I only witnessed one person getting hot under the collar, but I did witness several people keeping level heads in a potentially hot situations.
The overall atmosphere seemed upbeat and it looked (and sounded) like most of you had a good time.
Now if we could just get Skaar and Andy to stop yelling..... -stirthe:

man that was one hell of a foot chase. i was stalking infidels in the junk yard are when u came w/ the dummy.... i sprinted from there into the castle and noticed it was allready abandoned and headed out front to the open field to open fire on your ass... o well, it was a good run.
Sounds like it was a great game, I'm pissed I had to miss it. Congrats to the Afghani side for pulling it out, I was rooting for ya.
I will be back for the next one TFD puts together. They did a lot of work for this one. The MIL SIM beets woods ball or bunker ball for me anyday. I jumped a few times when the pyro went off. Glad I had brown pants on.
I don't know if it was the plan or just lack of an oragnized push by the US. But any assault I was on I don't think I ever saw more than 10 US players shooting back at us. But then again the Durkas were SAW rich it seemed? 1 for every 10 players. It was a trip getting trigger time behind the RPK for my first game.
The night game was very cool. It was upclose and personnel! Have you ever shadow hunted in the dark? Playing the night game in the castle is a great time. I will be back for the next one. Now where is my advil and crutches.

yeah the US only had 1 SAW to my knowledge that was working. And generally from my play it was just a big seesaw we would attack one side and it would be ill-defended and the Afghanis would attack the other which we left ill guarded so it was mostly just a back forth game.
BTW who had the headset camera and when will you have the video up????

I just wanted to say that I had a great time and wanted to thank Batman, Andy and rest of TFD for another memorable and “explosive experience” at Apoc. It was great running with GB, Downtown, Skunk (as well as the rest of the Afgani MAA) and CiFOR. You guys made the “Afgani- experience” a hilarious adventure once again. I only wish I had a camera to take some pictures of some of the action. I’d like to also attribute our victory to the fact that we spent the prior night at a Holiday Inn Express … where we had some time to make our hostage demands known.
You know who you are….If you ever want to see that expensive piece of American made equipment again…you better deposit the ransom money into our Swiss paypal account soon. Otherwise I’ll mail one piece of your precious “Craftman” everyday until we receive our money. We also want a Bigmac as well.

Is that a Stapler?
Nope, its a remote controlled car...
All I can say about the even is... HOLY CRAP!
Never did I expect to just laze around so much as a player and still have so much fun, lol.
I gotta say dang near the same thing as daemondog did.
TFD, Without you guys the game wouldn't have been possible. Without your coordination, efforts, and OCing put into this, the game would have flopped over like a fish outta water.
Andy, without the cool-factor you put on for us, I don't think I would have had that much fun. It was WELL WORTH digging holes all night long helping you out!
Nothing like walking into the castle to 1812 Overture and watching the ground blow up... Ohhhh fun times!!!!
MAA crew, You seem to always be there to help out (or maybe we just tag along with you, lol). Be it Asylum, Round Up, Takedown: Reloaded, anything... Your always there kicking major ___ with us and it's nothing but fun times!
CiFor, You guys ran a great QRF force, and you guys did a damn good job of it.
To everyone else stuck guarding the castle all day long, you guys were probably on some crappy defense project, but you don't know how much that means sometimes.
Yeah it sucks to get stuck up in the walls of the castle, but it pays off when there is an assault coming fourth.
All in all I'm ub3r sad that there will be no more Round Ups.. It was fun expanding every year to slowly get into costume (I dislike roleplaying for the most part, but when given a chance it's fun).
But with the ideas you have planned for next year it sounds ub3r fr33333k1ng cool! I look forward to next years event.

Oh BTW...while we're thanking people durning this event.

I also wanted to say thank you for letting us run our AEC the day before the event.

A-Ron,
There shouldnt be many, if any, players on our side that didnt get a chance to roam outside the walls for at least part of the day. I tried to cycle the guys out of the wall duty, unless they wanted it.
So, I think everyone got a chance to spend some time in the field shooting the infidels.
I will have to echo the sentiments of the prior posts.
Apoc, staff and Dave (in particular) THANKS ! We all appreciate your willingness to allow us to play at your field.
TFD, THANKS, and particular Batman, the game ran well and from a players standpoint, that is an achievement. Thanks. I would say more, but it has already been said, and as I said before I have to echo the sentiment.
Thanks for a great game.
And Thanks to all the Afghani side, I didnt know some of you, and you all poured your hearts into it again. It was fun to get the SitReps as people came back in for respawns so I felt a bit closer than I was during the game. If I hadnt been worth 50 points, I would have spent some more time outside my house. :)
Thanks to the guys that drove such a long way to attend the game, I always have fun with you all and look forward to games that we can camp out the night before. Though, I wasnt able to this time :(
Thanks to my team leaders, your assistance and lack of needing my supervision after you got your orders is ALWAYS refreshing. :)
I hope you guys liked the megaphone, it will be making a return in the future.
Thanks again to all that attended and I look forward to future games where we can again dominate the OpFor.

Just wanted to thank everyone for coming out. I wish we would have filmed some of the pyro going off. The RPG slamming into the truck during the pyro part of the safety brief looked very cool. Alas, the other RPG's didn't get set off as we were getting to many calls from the fire dept.
Again, THANK YOU ALL for coming.
Batman, madd props for taking the reins so i could concentrate on blowing stuff up again.
I think Dave will be scarred for life after seeing the pickup go BOOM hahahahaha.
My words to Dave as the truck exploded:
"So Dave, how does it feel knowing today is the day that you lose your insurance?"

Since he hasnt written the event yet, I would say, it could be, but give him some time to get it on paper, like till next spring... :)
Plus, it isnt like this is the only event here in the state, there will be more then enough events to play the insurgent and be able to play dress up.
In case you didnt see the parallel, the rules are going more toward the larger Lion Claws type games. And even John Lu has the OpFor in Op:BullDog dress in insurgent clothes and not camo. So, there will be events still to play the 'bad' guy and role play the Haji.

Jeff, no.....
TFD events are going to be much more even. THere will no longer be a "US vs. _____", but rather a "Blue vs. Red" or "Alpha vs. Bravo", where each side will have identical chain of command, weapons capability & rules of engagement.
Uniforms will be set at 3-color desert DCUs and Woodland BDUs ONLY.
Our entire rule set for next year was finished yesterday & after it gets input from the rest of the team & revised, we will be posting it for all to see. This way everyone who wants to play in a TFD game next year can start making their gear arangements. (BDUs & DCUs are cheep as he11, thanks to the US army's ever-changing uniform regs)
fish outta water.
WTF dude. I wasn't even there.
Not to be a whore but I don't like your uniform requirements for future games. I bought my camos for a reason because it works in certain environments and the fact I was able to use them in free reign, mix match... whatever, play as bad guys with goofy uniforms. And now being forced to wear one or the other, basically 2 different pairs of uniforms is quite crappy. I know you like milsim, and want to bring more milsim to Wisconsin, but for real, not every game should be based on that, there should be a few games in there where you are able to piss and rain BBs with any gun, and any way you want, and WEAR what uniform you so please within a certain requirement like shade / colour / design. Not everyone plays airsoft to be milsim-ish...

Those types of events will still be out there I am sure.
They just won't be put on by TFD.

Batman, great job on planning and getting this organized.
Thanks to the rest of TFD, apoc staff, and I guess Maple.

Not to be a whore but I don't like your uniform requirements for future games.......... 2 different pairs of uniforms is quite crappy. THese are the same uniform requirements that all Lion Claws events use. THe uniforms are affordable & easily accessable. Most of all, the uniforms are recognisable. The goal here was not to give everyone a super cool uniform or to make them blend into their enviroment well. The goal is to make the game EVEN on both sides.
I know you like milsim, and want to bring more milsim to Wisconsin, but for real, not every game should be based on that, there should be a few games in there where you are able to piss and rain BBs with any gun, and any way you want, and WEAR what uniform you so please. Not everyone plays airsoft to be milsim-ish...
And I never, EVER said that every game was going to be Mil-Sim. Ours will be. THat leaves a whole bunch of other games, run by other people, that are not Mil-Sim. If you want to run & gun, Im not stopping you. There will be pleanty of paintsoft events for you to choose from. None of them will be hosted by TFD though.
It all boils down to this, there is a serious shortage of Milsim events, open to the public. TFD events will help to fill that void. If you don't like the rules, don't come!

Guys and Gals....
I want to thank you for putting this event together! I have had the pleasure to visit APOC for the first time this year and I am hooked. Dave, THANK YOU for being such a great host to us and my family. My daughters cannot stop talking about the SASQUATCH. They even talked about seeing it today at show and tell. THANK YOU! It is something they will remember the rest of their lives.
Andy and Batman, Good job putting this game together!
Here are some highlights for me from this weekend:
1) PLAYING WITH ALL OF MY FRIENDS!
2) Getting 2 knife kills for the first time in my airsoft career
3) Finding out that I cheated when I got my knife kills (I guess I am -2 now)
4) Watching our team move with precision and reacting with force to any incident.
5) Seeing all of the PYRO go off.
6) AGAIN, SEEING AND PLAYING WITH NEW AND OLD FRIENDS
7) The great spicy lunch that burned on the way out! Cannot wait until next year.
8) Listening to Ghostbear playing his music over the loud system.
Any night pics floating around. My wife thinks I am sore from sitting infront of a slot machine at the Dells for a whole day.
I am also looking forward to next years mil sim.

Hey guys,
For those of you who attended, I was wondering how you felt, now that the game was over, about the medic / 1st aide rules? I know a lot of you thought they were too much going into it, but I wondered how you felt having played with them????

07 Nov 07, 03:12 AM
i liked 'em and i thought they fit the gamestyle very well.
I totally agree w/ the uniform requirement on the next TFD games. i think it takes away 1 common problem- friendly fire :p
I do want to make a request though.
Woodland vs. Multicam
cmon now, we allready have dozens w/ MC. and at least its a good way to identify best of USA (john lu) and TFD games. reason why? no way in hell desert blends on apoc terrain. well maybe the swamp.....
and im sure teams w/ MC will agree with me.
MC for the WIN!!!!
btw you can now get a cheaper pair of MCs all over (under 100 bux)
::begs please to mr batman::
I too am not hip to the woodland vs. 3 color desert, I'd personally go for tan vs. green based uniforms.
But at the same time, if TFD wants it this way, it is their choice as they will be writing the games and hosting them. :D

I have woodland and 3 color, so the uniform rules work perfectly for me! :) I believe that if you are going for a "clean slate 50/50 both teams equal" game, then woodland and 3 color are your best options. The reason being is that everyone would jump on the MC team if they had the chance, which would leave the woodland team lacking. Plus, if you make an exception for MC, then other camo-style owners are going to ask for one as well. That is just my $0.02, but I know I'll be at the next TFD games regardless of camo requirements (Hell, I own navy, black/white winter, 6 color desert, 3 color desert, woodland, OD, Tan, black, ACU, insurgent, and contractor uniforms)
I enjoyed the medic rules and I think it fit the game style pretty good. I would recommend a little bit longer piece of white cloth though; I had to tie them onto some wrists because they wouldn't fit on arms. As for the clothespins, I noticed the same problem this game as I had in one of mine I tried using clothespins... revived players took off back into the fight and forgot they had clothespins attached to their collars (established airway) and cuffs (checked for pulse). I ended up losing mine this way and had to just roleplay finding them after that. I loved snapping my fingers in front of a wounded players face and asking them to count to 10 or recite their name while I was applying pressure to their wounds. :)
PS- I liked the fact that anyone had a chance to heal another player, but the medic was more skilled. I think that works into a mil-sim environment very well.
actually tan vs green would be nice.
also if tan vs green would be enforced squads must have the same pattern.
eg.
tan
1st squad will be all MC
2nd will be all 3 color desert
etc
for green
1st squad will be OD
2nd will be woodland
etc.
this way we all win hehe...

I'm not sure if you are aware, or just being sarcastic, but Batman actually made the statement being one team 3-color DCU, the other team Woodland BDUs, period. So... there's no winning for you :duck: heh.

I have ways of making Skaar see things my way. They involve a girl named Mindy, a girl named Dana and a boy named Skaar.
If I play my cards right, I can have the game run any way I want. :o

Thanks again, it was my first time at APOC and I can't wait to go there for more events!

The reason being is that everyone would jump on the MC team if they had the chance, which would leave the woodland team lacking. Plus, if you make an exception for MC, then other camo-style owners are going to ask for one as well.
EXACTLY!!!!

There will be ONE uniform accepted for each side. It will be the way it is guys. It's not a debate.
It produces uniformality, which adds to the fact that this is milsim & it makes the sides even, with no one WHINING that they need their multi-cam!
I didn't tell you guys the uniform requirements for our games next year so that you could try to talk me outta the rules.... I told you so you can be ready for the rules.

If you have the choice between BDU and DCU, your going to jump on the BDU team instead of the DCU team and THAT one will be lacking.
Nobody is going to want to spend any more than they have to. And many people already have MC and BDU's.
But, your right Batman, you set your rules. And it is up to you. I will respect your rules for your games, and abide by them.
Batman,
Great game. I look forward to future TFD events.
For some feedback on the medic rules:
-Need to have spare clothespins in ammo cans at base; I left mine on a couple people after medic'ing them.
-Clothe strips need to be longer; I had a bigger guy on our squad, and I had to tie one around his wrist because it wouldn't fit his arm.
Other than that, I really like the medic rules. It adds a whole new role to the combat. Most medic rules make medics hardly any different than any other rifleman. They had great structure; perfect amount of complexity, not to difficult, but takes a little bit of training. This rules made it so a medic had a priority, and the procedure was extensive enough that the medic spent most of his time trying to save people, as he should. For example, as the 2-1 EOD medic, I shot under 300 rounds total during combat all day Sunday, and that is the way it should be in my opinion.
On a side note, I would be willing to bet I had the worst success rate of any medic out there. I had 2 saves out of 15+ attempts. And 1 of those 2 saves both me and my saved soldier died within 3 seconds of opening the envelope. And, the 1 save I actually did have, wasn't even on my squad. Haha, it's all the luck of the draw, and I guess I just wasn't getting lucky (or rather, my patients weren't getting lucky).

THere were extra pins in the "Medic Only" can & will make the strips longer next time!

Batman - from the way it sounds I missed one heck of a skirm. Hope to make the next one.
I liked everything about this game(except losing). Awesome job TFD. I will be at the next one. I thought the field was definitely worthy of another 400+ mile trip. The medic rules worked very well. The pyro was awesome. It was like Disneyland/Universal Studios for Airsofters. This was my first mil-sim style event and I am sold. This is the way airsoft should be played. No more high-caps for me, ever.
I also wanted to add that I like the idea of two equal teams and ONLY 2 camo patterns for next year.
Great stuff Batman and TFD.
Thanks to everyone who helped put this on.
Stuff i liked:
-Pyros going off in game.
-Getting to dress up like a Hadji.
-Knife kills i got.
-Unique one of a kind game play (Which is why i go, because its different, and fun).
-Fun crowd.
-Fun time camping.
Nothing i really can complain i didn't like. Anything even close to it was a middle ground. I use Midcaps and locaps anyways (For ops, open play i use hicaps, thats just mess around time IMO). Only downside was when i was chasing B_rik around the whole out-side of the field, and got to thier base, and just about pissed myself seing everyone unaware i was standing there in the open with a gun which i thought was loaded.... I pulled the trigger, and nothing was coming out. I took the mag out, and looked at it, empty. Whipped it at the ground. Then did some John Woo flip crap into some brush, where i reloaded quickly and shot two guys. :)
Fun fun fun.
I would run DCU's. I am SICK of wearing BDU's.
I gotta say the best part(s) from my perspective...
-The video that is taking god awful long to upload
-Andy's comment... "Who gave the f!*king n00b the saw!?!!" And then actually seeing how craptasic of a cut I made (I never took shop class... big deal)
-Yelling to get everyone to just push forward rather than sit and take cover and be over run.
-The stapla ransom..... We're still waiting Downslide..
-And of course... Nothing like yelling at our own guy that hes shooting friendlies two or three times before finally getting sick of it and walking over while we're dead and telling him he's shooting friendlies... Only to have him confess he cant' see exactly what he's shooting at.
For your viewing pleasure... and to tease the guys who weren't there....

Moderator's Note: Let's save the uniform discussion for when TFD actually posts the rules for the games they'll be hosting in the future. This thread is an After Action Report for this specific game only. Thanks! :)
hahaha!!!! andy you are a sick SOB!
anyways, the uniform requirments passed my test. thats how you run a game. you have to stand by your rules and not change it.
i totally agree w/ uniformity in the whole company.
i also want to see that rocket shoot from the mosque to the caslte to simulate a skud rocket. hehe... hows that for a challenge andy?
I swear you ****ers just wait till I can't be there to have all the fun. One of these days I won't be on orders for a good game.
Faust, thanks.

Crap, that would have saved me some time chasing people around collecting my pins... My bad... Oh well...
