View Full Version : Monthly Apoc Game
Batman

Gents, this is only under consiteration (as of now) by Dave, but I have been asked to guage the public's interest in a monthly game at Apoc.
PLEASE do not turn this into a goof-off thread. I only need to know if there would be enough public interest to make it worth Dave's time. It would most likely mean a night game on a Sat night, followed by a Sunday Scenerio. Cost for the Night Games would stay at around $10. Cost for the scenerio games would be between $25 & $30.
The reason Dave is even thinking of this is that he feels that airsofters at least clean up after themselves & act more maturly. The games would cost a little more then they have at Apoc before, but we're talking about Dave giving us a full day a month!

Works for me. I would do what I could to attend!

I would be interested, however weather would always be a pending factor(ie- too hot wouldn't play)

Sounds good to me...I'm always up for multiple locals to play at.
I'm ALL for that man, count me in.

Nice to know we've got a decent reputation over there. If this goes through, we'll have to keep up that standard. I'd probably attend three Sunday games a year in addition to the "major" full field events. More likely I'd pop in for night games, though... Wait, is the discussion around a full day of full field access like the big events or will there be field rotations with paint ballers?

It would be full field access. This is why it is a big deal. Dave would be giving up a full day of paintball business to allow us to use the property! For anyone who does not know, Apoc does a LOT of paintball business. He'd be giving up 300-500 painballers worth of sales a month!

I don't think we'd land the +100 players each month, though, as great as the offer sounds. A number of people will probably say they'd be up for more opportunities to play at Apoc, but that doesn't mean they will be there each and every monthly game. I'd hate to see Dave disappointed because he opened up the whole field during a warm month and only 30 or 40 guys showed up.

Jun, thats why the game would cost more. Traditionaly, games at Apoc have been around $20. This would be an increase of $10-$15 more, to cover the loss of players.
Also, Dave does not have to employ all his refs for those days & it gives him a chance to pretty much sit back & relax.

I'd definitely try to make games there; the more the merrier!

Apoc is a great place to play. I'd be willing to pay in advance for a set weekends (3-4 games) if it would mean this could fly. I look forward to seeing this workout.

I'd definitely go more often, but right now my cash can't stand the strain of going every time, much as I would like to. Maybe Dave would compromise and give us a full day once every two months or something, as I agree we might not be able to get it to pay. Dunno though.
Actually, $30-40 is not that bad for airsoft anymore. Most of the fields in WI are on the extremely cheap side for cost, but that is due to the fact that many do not have much depth to offer, nor do the have the area of land and obstacles (i.e. trench field, castle, etc.) that APOC has.
Most games in IL cost $30+ for a full day of airsoft, no reason that a good field "up here" shouldn't be charging that much either.
And there's "pah-scek-tee" lunches..... and ice pops too.!

Oh, I'm not saying it ain't worth it; I'm saying I'm too poor to pay a fair price

I heard that male exotic dancers make good money. Just ask Loofah. How do you think he affords all of his airsoft gear?

I'd certainly do my best to show up every game I can. Love apoc, I do. Buy apoc from dave, I will do... as long as he accepts rubber trees. I'm pretty positive a majority of wolf recon (at least the local fireteam... about 5 guys) would be able to hit apoc once a month almost every month.

Well, depending on how I like the field after the night games this Saturday, I'd probably be up for monthly games. I mean, I've got every weekend off, so why not spend both days doing airsoft? Screw responsibility!
I will come to these cames as much as possible, and im sure some of my friends would too.

im game as long as they are well thought out scenario type games with a more millsim lean to them. Dont want to spend 30 bucks to piss bb's at people. But if they are along the lines of Round up or something similar Id make sure to come

I just spent about half an hour trying to figure out what "pah-scek-tee" was, and I finally got it! Anyways, as far as the games, I'd try to make it out to a couple, pending I have money. Thats really cool that APOC would open up to "us" like that! Thanks!! :)
I'd probably hit one every other month (work, oncall). Probably not make any night games. Cost is good.

this probably sounds stupied but would we have to use biodegadable bbs, and if we dont have any would he have any on had that we could purchase??? ive got bio bbs, ....... just woundering:)
So far, every time I've played at APOC I have not been required to use BIO BBs hence me not switching to them yet.
8 times outta 10, someone there has bbs they can sell.

would there be a limit on mags hi-cap/low-cap???
Batman
08 Jan 08, 06:23 AM
Oh my god, this is an OLD topic guys.
Nightmare, YES! If TFD was running the games, which for the most part we would be, you wouldn't be allowed to carry ANY high Cap mags. We don't alow them at our games because idiots who dont know how to reload just hoze the open lanes of fire. They have no skill & they gain none by playing in this way.
Don't ask, the answer is always NO. Hi-Caps are for girls.
Arr0wana
08 Jan 08, 06:44 AM
Actually, All I've used in games so far is Hi-Caps (Mainly because that's what came with the gun, and I didn't have money at the time to go out and buy low/midcaps) and I think I fire less than other people. I think during OP Vig 2, I only used 1 TM MP5 Hi-Cap, maybe not even that much.
I do see what you are getting at though, a game with a bunch of noobs spraying everywhere doesn't sound too fun. But not everyone with Hi-caps is like that.
And back on topic, I'd love to have montly games at APOC. I'd defiantly go often.
although we normally dont drive up there for ****s and giggles, monthly apoc games would be a good alternative for us down here if theres nothing better to do on a given sunday esp. winter time when games start to slow down.
last sunday of the month would be ideal since most organized events in Il. isnt held on last sundays to avoid CPX conflict, and personally id rather drive 3 hrs to apoc than play w/ retards in CPX.... so if you guys do it, youll probly see us up there once in a while.

disregard this reply.... didnt realize this was an 06 thread :o

Blitz, even though this IS an '06 thread, it is still quite relevant.
There is a strong probability for this, and the more interest generated AND DOCUMENTED here, the better TFD can go to the owner of Apoc with some assurance of decent enuf crowd to make it marginally worth his while....

That's true, but Blitz adding his 2 cents isn't going to make Dave want to let TFD throw games, in fact, it will cause the opposite. Nobody likes a gas gunner... :o
how could anyone not want to play against my stock gun maypole. i know you love it.... in fact you get a hard on getting shot by it:ph34r:
he gets a hard on from anything shot out by a guy

Apoc is the only place I can go, realistically, for airsoft. So Yea I would love to get out at least once a month to play (as long as it is not winter!).

i got some mids, now i just have to see the age limits....
would a 13 year old like me be able to go to op: plauge this up coming year?
Batman
08 Jan 08, 06:30 PM
Kyledk, I am not the game organizer for that event, Kerrik is. I can only answer that if he does alow 13 year olds, he will loose a lot of adult attendance, including myself.

This is an excellent idea, I've always enjoyed the games held at Apoc. I would be up for attending once a month, and the price isn't all that unreasonable. Their field is probably one of the best in the state that allows for airsoft games - this is likely why theres always been such a large attendance number for the big event games held there.
Only a few questions:
Would lunch be served?
Would we have to share the fields with Paintballers for this given day?
Thats all I can think of at the moment.
