do you guys (and girls) bring any other things during winter games? besides like snowpants or something i mean extra gear that are bare neccesities
Some kind of gloves are a good idea. Obviously you dont want some really thick ones but something that you can aim and pull a tigger easily with. I've frozen my hands off too many times, so trust me it's important.

Hand and foot warmers :D
face protection, possibly something to cover up the little holes in your gun, maybe some paint. For example putting tape over the holes in the foregrip of an m4, where the battery is held, no one needs to get that stuff wet with melted snow. Always have hand/foot warmers, otherwise, wear a pair of wool socks and a pair of normal socks. Bring an extra set of underclothing, good chance you could take a little digger on ice and go through and find yourself knee deep in freezing water. Of course bring a hat, most of the bodys heat escapes from the head. Honestly, i dont think you can underpack for a cold game.
Spare: socks, gloves, and hat, even boots if you think they may not hold up to the cold & wet. Don't forget to dress in layers.
No cotton underclothes of any kind if you can help it. Many, many light layers. (None should be cotton) Fleece will become your friend. I start with a layer of silk, then a fleece polar shirt, then my bdu top. If I have to then I'll do a feild jacket on top yet. Usually the first 3 are good enough. Cotton is a bad choice for cold layering because it does not breath well and once it gets wet from your body moisture it will not dry out. I.E. you will feal cold and clammy. The silk undershirt will wick the moisture away from your skin and out the rest of your clothes. That and it makes you feel sexy. :]

Ah, really, silk does that, I had absolutely no idea.
Just double on everything. Getting wet isn't fun..

i think some cotton is breathable, depending on the weave, but it seems most people recommend avoiding it for outdoor activities - apparently it's a terrible insulator when wet. (http://www.ehow.com/how_9518_buy-thermal-underwear.html) i have a set of polypropylene thermal underwear, which is supposed to be real good for wicking away moisture. i picked up a set for less than 20 bucks towards the end of last season at Gander Mountain. (thermal wear can be really hard to find in March, btw, if you don't know where to look.) they had several different "types" based on level of activity, desired warmth, etc.....here's a review round-up you don't typically expect to see on an airsoft site: Hot Tips for Buying Long Johns (http://magazines.ivillage.com/goodhousekeeping/consumer/beauty/articles/0,12873,284522_290080,00.html)
...and even though it's already been stated, a decent pair of boots, gloves, and a hat are all highly recommended.
something else to consider for winter games, is that due to the colder temparatures your batteries aren't going to last as long. i'm not sure what the difference in longevity is, but from what i understand it's considerable.

A trailer with a heater in it. Seriously, we are working on that. lol It will be good for those that are starting to feel the effects and need a good warm-up.
But the best friend of mine when we played is hand and foot warmers. Like Prof said.
Beest uses leg warmers. He has those pink ones that go to his knees and match his leotard. LMAO
I like to color coordinate them with my thong.........and socks. LOL ROFLMAO!!!!!!

i too have to disagree with your comment on the cotton bit. cotton is recomended for most use in the summer because it does "breathe". If your thinking that its a bad choice because it will breath the warmth that you body creates out of your layers, then yes, it will do that. but cotton WILL breathe! it does retain moisture though, so use with caution.
silk, does breath also, but will "slik" away any built up mositure (so i read)

I think cotton as the bottom layer is the problem in the winter. It may breathe just fine in summer, but most people don't wear more than one layer when it's hot.
exactly what jun said. if you get cotton wet in the winter.. you'll be lucky if you'll be warm at all, lol. your going to freeze your ass off, 'specially if you play in the five to ten below that me and my boys played in before.
but yeah, just layers and be wise about what kinda layers you use as most have stated.
I know some people use underarmor, is this effective or is it just effective because you think it is?
from the little that i have read (someone please help me out here) it is effective because it does keep you warm and any sweat or water buildup that comes from/on your body, it takes it off your body and "slicks" it away. it breathes and is suppose to keep you warm from my undersanding. if byrnzy ever gets back online here, he might be able to tell ya if it works nice or not, i know he uses some sometimes.
i know they do make a cold weather underarmor too, so if it is for cold weather it should be effective, or make you think it is, lol:D

yes under armour is effective in all of the ways it says it is supposed to be. i wear my heatgear at every game i go to, and it works great and was well worth the money.

Echo same experiences with it.
Thanks guys, i am really intrested in getting some cold weather under armor. Anyone got a link to purchase, for cheaper than 50$ a piece? Ive seen some outrageous prices at local stores, would it be cheaper online?

It probably is a bit cheaper, but then you pay for S&H. Overall it probably equals out, if not you can buy it cheaper in stores, as S&H kills ya.

well you can buy it at most sporting goods stores (i.e. gander mountain, sportsmans wearhouse, scheels, etc.) for fairly cheap. i believe for longsleeve coldweather gear it is 35, and for shortsleeve coldweather gear it is 25, both obviously in the compression fit.

Cotton does breathe pretty well compared to many synthetic materials. On a hot day and you're dancing or whatever, you're gonna be a lot cooler and less sweatified if you wear a cotton shirt than a super thin rayon shirt or something. But cotton is really bad when it gets wet, because first of all it takes a long time to dry, and it actually steals heat from your body to dry, i.e. you'd be betting off soaking wet with no shirt at all than with a cotton shirt. I work with a bunch of people who do a lot of kayaking and stuff on cold days on water where they often get wet (so do I), so maybe I kinda know what I'm talking about, then again maybe not.
Winter is all about synthetic LONG UNDERWEAR, my friend.
BTW, just a little advertizing here since I mentioned my work, I work at Watertrail Adventures (www.gottapaddle.com) which is in James Madison Park on Lake Mendota in Madison, and we rent canoes, kayaks, and sailboats, and have classes/private lessons too. It's a really cool place with really cool people working there, you know you want me to teach you how to sail. If you live in Madison or come to visit, I highly recomend you check us out, but we ain't open 'till summer.
I wear the Military styple Poly pro underwear tops and bottoms, for cold weather you can not beat it.
I stock these items at the wargame room they run 19.99 each.

Yea, the poly propolene that gary sells is excellent, I wore that, some regular clothes and some hunting clothes when I went out thanksgiving morning when it was like -12 windchill and I was warm, except for my feet cuz my stupid boots suck. The polyprop is great though, and it makes me feel soo sexy.

I find it useful if you first put on under armour then a wool t-shirt finally put on a camo hode to get your gangster on. For the bottom layer put under armour pants on then camo pants. I find this to work and so do the ladies. ;)
