Welcome to airsoft in Wisconsin. Hope to see you out on the field soon! As for teams, check out the "Team Descriptions" part of the forums. Most if not all teams were started and are maintained by older gentlemen, so most of them have full time jobs and don't commit to airsoft on the weekdays. Other people on teams are either in school or whatever, so they don't have team practices on weekdays either. As for organized games, those are all on the weekends, never on weekdays. So as you can see, weekends are booming for airsoft. Also, don't ever feel pressured to join a team, some people play as "freelance" (including myself) for years before they join a team, if they do at all. If you show up at an OP, you don't need a team, most organized teams will take you under their wing for the day.

Is that UWMilwaukee or UWMadison or what? Cuz the fields close to you change based on where you are (Captain Obvious to the rescue!).

Teams, like Swiney said, (sorry, I will never use that nickname again) are by no means a necessity. I'm sure I've never heard of a game where it was (for example) just TFD vs. MERT, so you don't have to be on a team to get into certain games, for example. That said, it's nice to have regular people to roll with; and that's all some teams are.

I could go on forever, but would probably end up with one foot in my mouth and my head up my ass, so I'll just say welcome and P90 hicaps are better than the Sun, combined. ;)

P90 hi caps are a disaster...

Neways, hello and welcome. UW is awesome, but like Agent J said, which one in particular? The sport is what you make it... There are some of us who take it way to seriously and invest paycheck after paycheck into guns that shoot plastic pellets and then we go out and play war... Then there others who buy little to nothing, just to get by and play here and there. Where you want to go is your decision, the choices are almost endless and the list is just growing longer.

Good luck and I hope to see you out on the field,

~ Turkey

Teams, like Swiney said, (sorry, I will never use that nickname again)

It's cool, my nickname is actually Sweiny, so it's all good! Anyways Welcome man!

I just can't catch a break. Perhaps I'd be able to be friends with everyone if I just dropped individual BBs into the barrel of my P90 and shot them one at a time.

I go to UW madison. where my folks live i used to go out every now and again and play in a skirmish like you said, sort of "freelance". I would like to do the same again for a while. by weekly practices i didnt mean during the week, i meant like once a week on a weekend because to be honest most of my weekends will already be taken (im one of those guys who wants to do EVERYTHING...which means i have time for nothing!)

maybe eventually i may become a more serious player, for the moment though im just trying to play a couple games.

The cool thing about airsoft in Madison is that there is a club, paid for by your seg-fees, already set up to get first time players into the game. Badger Airsoft Club is the walk on, all are welcome, get together group that can help you. Badger Airsoft (Team) is an airsoft team in the traditional sense of the word. You need to get an invite to join...selection process...yada yada yada.

If you have a car, check out Apocalypse Paint Ball just north of Madison. They have games every so often and the facility is awesome.

Good luck and I hope to shoot plastic at you some time soon

Welcome to the boards! If you are in UW-Madison, definitely look up Badger *points to post above this one*.

The fields near Madison are Action Packed Paintball every month, Apocalypse Paintball once in a while, Dragon's Lair in Fort Atkinson, and my team's Merrimac, WI practice field.
