Great game, thanks to Paul and Dave for hosting, Batman for running the show, etc. I loved the pyros and defecting to the Americans, and the protesting stuff was a lot of fun too. The walk to the respawn was a bit of a bother, but I really did enjoy myself.
we took a few pics. you can check them out here:

For my first op I have to say that it was a blast |
I have a new found love for mid-caps
Pic 17, man I didn't look that tired there hehe. I was beat by then, after playing 2 days full of airsoft I couldn't convince my muscles to move so I took a Seat
I want to thank Batman, Paul and Andy for the game. It was a blast I am defiantly going to come to more airsoft games at apoc in the future.
My most favorite part was when we were protesting and watching how the Americans we clueless as how to handle the situation.
I am going to go to bed and pass out now...

Excellent game by all!! My brother and I thought it was the cats meow! Thanks to Cifor for adopting my brother and I into Bravo squad, sorry for tripping on that booby trap! Big thanks to Batman and TFD for all the leg work and sacrificial OC'ing. Lastly a big thanks to team Tali, I hated you the entire morning as I got shot in the back but leaned to respect you by the afternoon:) My best and worst memory of the day was the last half hour when my brother and I along with a few others slipped around the Tali's left flank at the comm tower and did some serious damage, well it was actually only my brother and a few others because right before I got into the fight I was shot in the back by a team mate... I forgive you:)
I would also like to share with you guys that I accidentally drove 40 miles the wrong way on I90 before realizing it (a total of 80 miles just to get back to exit 115 Apocalypse), that really was the worst part of the day for me:)

Ah, Wow, I had a BLAST....d ef coming to some more APOC games in the future, Thanks to the entire OC staff, Batman, Loofah, everyone, the game was run very well, and I was very pleased with it.
I really enjoyed being a role player, in all honesty it was much more fun than playing, well at least from my standpoint...
Batman, thanks for that sip of Pepsi in the middle of prayer.... dang I was getting dry...
it looked like everyone was having fun, it was a very enjoyable game
BTW, who has pics of everyone praying in the field? it was very amusing from my standpoint
Game was awesome, great weather. Make sure you all check for ticks, i got 2 of them on my head :(
Round Up was a blast, quite a few people and by far the largest force I had to ever Command/XO for. Role-play was great and everyone worked well together. I look forward to doing this again next year, or again period. Thanks to APOC and Batman/TFD on getting this going and together. It was quite nice to meet and work with so many skilled units.

Gents (& a couple ladies) THANKYOU!!!
It was your play & willingness to follow the roles you had, that led to the comments above!
Final score had the Afghani's score in the 460 range & the US was 640 (ish). 310 Pts were from the POW points, so you certianly did "Round-up" the suspects, as you were supposed to. Though the US won in points, the Afghanis got to have the finnal blow in the Castle attack that lead to the loudest booms I've herd on an airsoft field since the flashbangs went off on Breech's head in Michigan..... At least ours didn't hurt anyone though :)
There was some talk after the event & next year, well, Im not going to say what the op is yet, but it MIGHT be a sequil to a TFD game from before & it's name was simular to Crimson Poison. (Think of the color & think of snakes)
We are also thinking that next year's event will be ALL Mid/low mags, so you all have a year to prepare for that!!!
Outstanding job guys!

i think games are getting better and better each year!!! lets keep em comming....
im also glad to see midcap restriction really works coz everyone would really call thier SAW gunners for support.
kenchunflek, it was nice of you taking point and setting off the trap for us :) from now on your our designated pointman

Okay, two things. First, does anyone know who the two girls who were taking pictures are? Second, I thought the Americans succeeded in holding the castle at the end; great explosions though; I was about thirty feet away from the pink tape.

This Game goes in my top 5... I had a blast! MAJOR PROPS to the OCs, and Batman, you guys did a great job.
I also have to say that this was one of the best groups I've played with/against. I didn't witness ANY major rule infractions --well, except for Jason plugging me in the leg at about a foot and a half! ;) -- Hits were being called, OCs were on the ball, I only heard one instance of blind firing being yelled out...all in all a pretty clean game.
That's what makes good games great, when the players are willing to step up and follow the rules, everybody has a good time!
Oh, and I think Freya wins for "Best Costume." authentic, and "full face protection" to boot! :D Honorable mention goes to Jonesy, of course --cuz what game with the MAA guys would be complete without the BEAR!?

Great game, thanks to the players and OCs, I had a blast.
ok heres my overall perspective on the event:
i think low/midcap restrictions really slim down the BS in a public airsoft game. and the main reason is that everyone is more focused rather than hosing down anyone they see. this was the most minimal BS public game ive been in so far. the OCs did a great job policing everything including ronans 5 RPG kills hitting the drive by truckers.
another thing i think we need to learn is how to deal with role players... its really hard to deal with civilians with guns with a dont shoot unless fired upon ROE. it was all fun though, confusion and frustration on wanting to kill the bastards!
lastly the artillery rounds rocked! and the destroyed portion on castle rule also kicked ass!, the tripwires they installed was brilliant! our pointman got killed by it, really brings the game to a new dimension.

I had an absolute blast yesterday! I was inside the castle setting up our claymore and then turned around to head out the front gate to meet up with my squad... and was greeted by an enormous riot. That was definitely one of those "What do you do?" moments in airsoft that I have never experienced before. The riot was really cool to be a part of, everyone was playing along with it really well, and it really enhanced the tension of the moment. I think more than a few American players wanted to just open up on the crowd! All of a sudden I heard this plastic thud as a citrus grenade hit a gate spike and bounced down by my feet. I remember looking at it and not really registering what it was for about a half a second until I yelled out "GRENADES!". After taking cover behind the corner, a grenade bounced just inside and blew up right in front of me. I believe I was the first US casualty of the day! :P
The translator thing was pretty cool and the whole "non combatants VS combatants" thing was confusing at first but I think it added to the overal atmosphere of the game well. I know some US soldiers were getting frustrated when someone who was a non combatant would just pretend to be non-hostile, walk up, and then draw a gun and shoot at people... but I believe this was addressed at lunch quite well. Also, when our commander gave us an updated ROE that involved us warning someone once, maybe twice, then firing, then we were able to manage a lot better :)
My team went out on a patrol during the second half of the game and we ran into the truck filled with rebels. That was interesting... squad of 11 guys moving along the path behind the castle would hit the deck and eat dirt when a truck zoomed by blazing guns at us. It was a situation that was unique to the game and it was a lot of fun.
I think Batman and the rest of the TFD deserve a huge round of applause for pulling this game off really well. Any game is going to have some quirks to it, but I think they stepped up and solved/tried to solve any and all issues that came up. Outstanding job to the OCs, the Event Coordinator, Dave and Paul from Apoc, and the players of both sides.

I think the game was great. I really liked the trench fights although when we got to the castle I felt we were slightly outnumbered, and our Re-spawn was a very long walk. Overall a pretty good game though.

Do those points include the $30,000 American and 50 barrels of oil given to the Al'Salad family throughout the day?
I will await my Lexus patiently in the mail. Please remember the heated seats for cold nights!
Thank you everyone for playing so well and making the roleplaying really work throughout the day. Speaking for my group the ending became surprisingly frustrating when all the ROE was dropped in favor of an all out paintfest to end the game. Of course the ROE was what we were working with the whole game through! :D
Apart from that the event went off very well and I wish to extend my congratulations to the organizers for putting together such a huge game and running it very well. Small confusions and changes were typically handled very well and as Blitz said there was a bare minimum of BS.
Thank you again to Apoc paintball and all who put the event on.
You all have not seen the last of the Al'Salad family!

Thanks guys for a fun time. Love the Pic of all the traitors making their way to the castle. Everyone new I would be doing something during the day, but even I didn't know until 2:00 what that was. Funny though how everyone was keeping me way out of the loop all day.

I agree with Blitz that mid/low cap magazines was cool because it forced squads to use a combined arms approach which tactically made things more fun. For team USA SAW placement became part of tactics and our sniper spotter teams were used fully..
Also, I really thought I would end up being suppressed most the day by the Tali's but I wasn't. Was I just in the wrong places or were most Tali's using mids as well?

Kenuchfleck,
Most if not all the Afghani were highcaps. But, this is a great example of how the capacity of the mag has nothing to do with the game if played with the right people. Midcaps only have effect if you have people that would hose people if they had a highcap. It forces them to evaluate and to make choices. For many players, especially the older guys, that only have had the choices when they got into this sport of low caps and high caps; they know trigger control and not to go nuts with 300 rounds 'available' in a mag.
But, this discussion is not for this AAR.

First of all, THANK YOU to ALL of you players that made it out. Without you, theres no game!
Second, to Apoc who allows us to play airsoft there, and host events on our own there-thanks Paul, Dave, and staff! Thanks to TFD and anyone else that made this possible-we know it was a lot of work in short time!
Third-My thoughts-This game was really fun from an OC standpoint. Why? because i didnt have a lot of WORK to do all day. All YOU people made this a very easy flowing event for us in general. Thanks!
The protest was awesome! Very intense and something youd see from a movie. Explosions were excellent-Thanks Andy! My apologies for any confusion or BS caused by the organizers or OC's-we tried hard as we could, and think did very well.
Im glad you people all had a good time, because thats what the point is. I didnt even care which side won.
Thanks to all the people who bought from Loofah's Supply also-its greatly appreciated! A big clearance sale is coming soon for leftovers!
On the props-I know its a game, and Milsim, realism, etc etc-BUT i personally put money, time, and some trouble to build certain props and get em right. I did NOT appreciate the idiot who used a PAINT GRENADE in the top of the radio tower-my radar stuff has to be remade because it wont come out. This is airsoft, not paintball-your mama shouldve smacked you harder.
All in all-its a big Thanks to the players for showing up, and making it fun!
My hat is off.

Thanks to Batman and everyone else involved. I know I had a good time and my three friends did too. Two of them never played an airsoft game before, but have been paintballing for years. After yesterday they both said that they are pretty much done with paintball and are going to stick to airsoft. I was wondering why my rifle and clothes were getting full of paint when I finally got into the radio tower, the paint grenade explains it.
I will say that it was hard for some of us Afganis to not open fire at times too and to just stick to our roles. I actually got shot once just for looking down at my rifle to make sure my safety was on. Someone was a bit trigger happy. Another time I was walking up to a group of Afganis who were just standing around talking near the tower and got shot in the forehead. After that I decided I was not going to be a peaceful protester.
Overall we had a great time, and look forward to the next big game. I need to invest in more mags though. All I had was my standard mag and 1 hi-cap. Thanks again to everyone that was involved.

I had an awesome time, Great job Batman, Loofah, Andy (awesome explosions and very cool gun, take care of my SP :D ), Paul, and the rest of the Apoc staff, and Dave for letting us play on his field. This ranks right up there as one of the best games I have ever been to, even with my M60 crapping out at the end of the day (I figured it would, and it is a minor fix).
Another big thanks to all those on the Afgani side that played their roles and made the game memorable. For awhile I was getting very confused/angry/disoriented with not knowing who to shoot, and that is exactly how it should have been. I loved it.
i forgot to mention... my hats off to those who wore HAJI costumes! you guys made the game more interesting....

The patrol we went on was interesting... while going completely around the property, we were all lying prone near the trail when some Afghani's stumbled up on top of us. We were VERY worried about an open firefight and with guns pointed at them and some other Afghani players lurking aroundf... I remembered I had some candy Dots boxes. With everyone staring each other down and the situation getting tense, I was the translator so I said "Do you like candy?". The Afghani player smiled and said "Candy? Candy? Yes good Candy" or something like this. After he didn't walk away back to the village (which was part of the candy barter) I knew he was going to fire, but the candy trade gave us just enough time to open up the path and not have a close quarters firefight. Stuff like this really makes a game great :)

I find it very interesting you guys talking about who to shoot and who not to shoot... I personally can't believe I managed to stand in the field between the Radio tower and the castle for a good 5 minutes before prayer and not get shot, my security guy did (not posing too much a threat, but it was Daemondog, I think he always poises a threat)
I heard that there was discussion among the Americans as to whether or not I should be shot.... oh well... it was very fun...
Oh yeah, and whoever wore the flectarn camo on the patrol through the Afghani town, I got a kick of that whole patrol, I was the one yelling "Germans go home!"

Great game as many have said. I made this comment last night while at dinner, but I saw virtually no cheating. The only time I even questioned if somebody was cheating was towards the end when I was on 2nd level of the castle, shot somebody behind one of the brush piles and they didnt quickly get out and leave. Turns out that area was catching so much fire that the shot player just took some time getting his kill rag out and making it visiable to all. My favorite part was the patrol my team did going around the castle. As luck would have it 1/2way through my nose started bleeding really bad but I didnt want to give my teams position away so I sucked it up and bled all over my self and gun untill we got back to the castle. Overall defenitly in the top 3 games I have been to and the only complaints I have are minor and few
overall id give it a 9.1/10

Yeah, that brush pile caught hell from us. Great moment; I was afraid we were going to get overrun when I saw the Bear running towards the castle.
And yes. that's a great picture of us strolling towards the castle. Loved seeing my teammates on RIOT just going "wtf" as I walked past them.

I would like to second my teammate Mule's comments by saying thank you to the organizers, the OCs and the field owner(s). I only know Batman by name, so regrettably I cant single you all out for praise individually, but we had a terrific time due to your collective efforts. Much appreciated.
Thanks also to the American players for respecting the ROEs despite occasional feelings of frustration. Your due diligence added alot to the game and made in stand out.
The American leadership did a fantastic job in dealing with the Rats, who posed as the Al-Salahd family for the day ("All salad", get it? I know, stoopid play on words, but we thought it was funny.) You rolled with our goofy antics the whole time, which we enjoyed way more than the actual firefights after lunch.
We also had a great time running with Maple, Ghostbear, and Chase, who did a very good job keeping "the natives" organized.
The organizers took a risk with the ROEs which I think paid off. The event was unique and memorable. For next time though, I would suggest not departing from the format like was done with the second half of the day: suddenly declaring that all Afghans were hostile kinda killed the charm of it and reduced things to a stalemate around the castle. Just a little constructive criticism for next time.

PS> This is a side note meant as constructive criticism, not a flame. I want to add that personally, allowing people to walk around in bear costumes or wearing kilts when other people invested the time, energy, and finances to respect the uniform requirements seems incongruous. Either there is a dress code or there isnt. Take it for what it's worth.

id have to say that was a awesome event, i definently thought that there were going to be huge problems with the RoE part of the game, and i only witnessed one incident, where some guy on my team walked up to a group of americans and basically banged them, I felt like smacking that guy for doing that...But other then that id have to say the second part of the day was incredibly awesome and the best part is, i didnt even get a kill at all the last half of the day, well i tried until some guy shot up my poor sombrero :D

Just wanted to thank everyone for coming and those that made it possible,
To all the guys who came from asylum thnx i know it was a long weekend for you guys but you came anyway.
To the River Rats it was very cool to see you guys there and hope you come up again, you guys cracked me up when i first walked by you and you told me you let the retard out or something along those lines referring to your teammate.
To the MAA guys good to see all you again its been awhile and hope you get up more often.
And THANK YOU to everyone that actually role played ,stayed in character, and observed the ROE it was a unique experience seeing it from an OC's view it was actually entertaining to watch and made for a very differant kind of game than we usually have,on that note we will be trying this in more of our games along with mag restrictions whih also made it very interesting, looking forward to seeing you all up here again.

I suppose I can make this admission to you all now, without risking loosing players..... Before this weekend, I had NEVER run an airsoft game before... With that said, I must thank the following people.
- Tank, for sacrificing the play time to help us out... Showed us all that he still has a little TFD left in him.
- Loofah, for putting himself above & beyond the call, when it comes to prop making. He put a LOT of time in on them & though some of the jogger alarms went dead, they were cool as hell!
- Andy, for doing what he needed to do to get off that weekend & making us all feel concussion blast (BOOM!)
- Ghostbear, who didn't know what was in the cards, but helped me choose the colors while I planned this thing.
- My team mates, who all took the time to be where they needed to be to run an EXTREAMLY cleanly played game &........................
ALL OF YOU, for playing the way you did!
This being my 1st time, I learned a lot & the hick-ups that some of you have advised me of will be addressed for the future. Thankyou all again.

Great game! I had a blast, although I had some costume issues at one point and ended up taking a shot to the head when I couldn't get out of the bushes. Thanks to everyone who helped set things up, and congratulations to the USA on winning - you guys had that castle well-defended!
For anyone who would like to see more pictures of this event, you can check out ICE's website as Cochesse suggested. Also, if you are already in my picture group on walgreens.com, the pictures are all there. If anyone else would like to be added to the group, send me your name and your email address and I will add you.

I thought it was a well organized event; you did a great job for your first time out, Batman. [:Y:] And thanks to everyone else (OC's, Apoc staff, Loofah, etc.) for helping the day go smooth.
It was great to see so many people get into character; Shogun going off on the "CIA" was hilarious. Hopefully I can figure out how to get those pixels off my camera onto the Intarweb.
Unfortunately, my day was partially spoiled by a tempermental weapon (over-tightened motor, resolved thanks to Kenuch and FooChild  ) and even more tempermental midcaps (probably my fault for not properly cleaning them after last use).

All I gotta say is WOW! I just wanted to throw in my two cents. I wanted to thank Batman and all the OC’s for the game. This was one of the most ”hassle-free” games I’ve attended in a long time.
I also wanted to thank all of the Al Quada that I recruited throughout the day. Your willingness to accept every dangerous mission against the infidel without question made my job easier. Especial thanks go out the first cell of Al Quada holy warriors…you guys made things happen out there with little supervision and guidance. Although…I’m rather concern about photographs of one of the holy warriors fornicating with a sheep :o (while on a mission) and the other one dressing up like a teddy bear. Anyways… thanks to all who made this event an enjoyable experience. Also wanted to thank GB for making all the costumes for a lot of us. I know you spent a lot of time hooking us up the Afgan Grab. Almost forgot...thanks Kade for fixing my guns at the last minute. If it wasn't for you the RPK and AK would have been down for this event.
I guess the most memorable experience I had that day was when Downtown and I took out the American Commander, a couple translators and that traitors bastard Crow (love ya buddy[:Y:] ) by martyring ourselves with a satchel charge at the castle gates. I not sure who was laughing harder….us, Crow or the OC’s who screamed “Your all dead!”

I think it would be cool if someone were to post some of the details of the of the event. I'm really curious on what the kind of missions the americans received and how sucuessful they were. Although I knew most of the Afgain missions...I would like to know what the tratior Crow had for his missions.

I would like to thank Batman for setting up a great game and Apoc's Owner(you have a very good Staff) for letting us use the field. Also thanks to Loofah (also for making great props) and the other OC's refereeing a great game. I cannot wait for another game at Apoc... ;)
All the OC's and game coordinators, Paul, Dave, and anyone else who helped out... WOW! You made the game one to never forget.
While the beginning had very little action for most of us, that was probably one of the best parts.
Nothing like trying to confuse your enemy by walking right by them with a loaded gun! lol...
Like many others have said, I've never been to a game where very little violations happened. Only a few blind firing issues, and of course it's going to happen in the heat of battle, that I ended up seeing and calling players out on, other than that I was surprised by the sportsmanship by EVERYONE there. You ALL made it a game well worth it!
As much as I really wanted to go and get some good pictures, I just could not stop with all the fun stuff going on. Thank you once again Paul for snapping the pictures that you did, they're awesome.

Well,
I would love to say that I had a great time that whole day. But sadly I cannot.
As I was at the Asylum game the day before I was driving up from Chicago and got a speeding ticket from some state police weenie 3 miles from the Apoc Exit. THREE MILES. I suppose I should be happy he didnt clock me when I was following the motorcycles, I think that would have gotten me a 'single phonecall' moment :jaw-drop:
Other than that, the day was great.
Thanks Batman for the mention, I appreciate it. I think that you did a GREAT job planning as things built up to the event and throughout. As someone that was giving some input on things, I appreciated that you listened and were willing to try some of them. I think that you will become a great game organizer and I think I can speak for all that attended in saying that I will be attending games you run in the future.
I believe the day went off without a hitch, and for a public game it went well beyond what many would have thought possible. The lack of BS on field was a welcome change from many public games I have attended.
Thank you to the same long list of people that planned, participated, supervised and executed this game. You all are appreciated.
My favorite part (or most memorable) was when one of my team members decided to get his head shaved before the game. After he shaved his head, some afghan guy came up to us with my friends hair taped to his face, as a makeshift facial hair.
"The resemblence is uncanny!"
Good times guys, good times.

Great job Batman, and all the other OC's who helped make Operation: Round-Up a success! It was such a fun time (aside from the wet paint everywhere), might i say i had a fun time. The RoE were a bit rough, but i think if this keeps going, it wil lbe absolutly perfect next year! :)
Once again guys, great job.
And also an enourmous thanks to all those who took and posted photos of this Op, my team-mates and i are very very happy! :)

Let me say that those pictures are doctored of me. The sheep was choking on his grass meal and I was trying to save him.
The second pic was the goat thanking me by giving me a ride on his "back". :D
Guys,
APOC is one of the fields in the midwest that I have never played at. I really like to field and hope to make it to more events. Many people know that me and TFD have never had a good relationship. I am very happy with the new leadership and hope to strengthen the friendship even more.
TFD Boys....GREAT JOB ON THIS GAME!
Finally, I have read every single post here. I have to say to those people that were complaining about the ROE's and MAG restrictions....That is real life! I shot a guard from 10 feet away because I was tired of listening to him get frustrated (and scared). This was real life situations....It should be played as such. If you cannot handle not spray and praying, then you need to play somewhere else or play at unorganized games. This was a mil-sim event and I was very happy with the way it went. The Afghan players did just that...they played their parts and did one hell of a job.
so in conclusion...HHHHHHAAAAAAALLLLLLLOOOOO! DO you have chocolate?

Great game - but I think next time we need to adjust the spawn points, having the reinforcements spawn inside the base just seemed unrealistic and it was impossible to even get close to the castle. It may have worked better to have the U.S. forces who died in the castle respawn at a different location - say like a drop point for reinforcements, that way the afganis may have been able to take the castle (though even with that tweak it would have been damned near impossible). Just a thought :D
and oooo they got pictures of me hah

Yeah, but what im saying is that its Afganistan - so reinforcements would respawn inside their town, that makes sense. But the U.S. forces shouldnt have because its not their country - they should have come from a different location after hearing that a U.S. base was under attack.
Im just trying to find a solution to where the attacking team always gets slaughtered when going against a team in the castle.
The mag restrictions and respawn rules were okay in my opinion because the goal was a mil-sim game - but that would have to mean that the spawns (reinforcement locations blah blah) would be set up differently than they were.

No...A-Ron's right. It was US rules as well to report to the staging area and then walk to the castle with a kill rag on after you check in. There was no respawn in the castle, that's just where we had to redeploy from.

Great game, that about sums it all up. Thank you to the field owners and everyone else who helped organize this game.
It was a very interesting and fun game. The day went almost flawlessly. I had a few things I was unsure of, but at the break they were cleared up.
(i.e. - the R.O.E. definate rules; as Kade and I were in the brush and didn't fire but were opened up on. Batman later said that if the Americans felt threated, that they could shoot).
All in all, very well organized, coordinated, OC'ed and played. There were little to no faults and if so, the OC's were there to clear them up as quickly and easily as possible. This will be a very memorable game for me. Thank you everyone for helping this game turn out as well as it did.
(P.S. sorry Beest, I know that you were getting frustrated with the respawn issues but I'm glad you were there to make them clear).

Oh I know, I guess i didnt word it correctly, what i was saying as that when they redeployed, they did it in the castle - regaurdless of the checkin location. I meant to say that they should have redeployed at a different location if we wanted to go for the mil-sim feel.

09 May 07, 05:34 AM
Mikebla, I see where you're going.
One way to think of it is that the reinforcements were "dropped Blackhawk" style. In the future, a way to simulate that could be an OC leading in a group of say 10 at a time at 10 minute intervals or something.
Batman
09 May 07, 05:55 AM
Guys, the idea was this, unit member gets killed on patrol, his unit returns to base, where the KIA's replacement is brought in by chopper. (Simulated by players doing their "time out" in staging, then being sent to their starting points to return to game) Happens in real world every day.

I dont think there was a problem at all with the redeploy being at the castle. If the afghan team would have unified or worked together as a more cohesive unit they would have had better sucess assaulting the castle

I saw three, count em, three Afghan players walk passed an open trap door to the castle in the afternoon. US wasn't watching it at all. :) of course, they couldn't see what I could :)

Lol, when I was able to get even near a secret door it was heavily guarded by Americans. We were soposed to get a bomber within 30 feet of the building but were unsuccessful 2 times. After that it was getting to near the end of the day so Kade and I decided to just go mess around while we could.

one thing that i thought was really impressive from my point of view was that i saw ZERO people shooting through the cracks of the castle, Ive seen it done dozens of times at Apoc Games and this one i didnt see anything, I was also on the outside of the castle looking in so the American Perspective could be way different however
I have to agree with that, I walked alongside the castle numerous times and even as I was nobody even seemed to have any intent to fire through the crack.
I do thank all the OCs, Dave, and Paul for stressing the point that the cracks are not to be shot through, nor over the top of the castle.
Very pleased! :D
As sad as it is that it had to come to that, I think that the no BS threat to send any poor sports home using the yellow and red card system was awesome.
GREAT GAME.
GREAT RULES.
GREAT TIME.
I too have witnessed and been part of takeing the castle....Like was mentioned.....Teamwork...en mass. You guys deffinately had teh firepower and number advantage. If it was able to have been used then It should have been relatively easy to take it. But I understand....othe rthings at hand as well.
Stealth Turkey...Not sure who you are..lmao. What was irking me were the people that I had to tell over and over again. I remembered one persons face and I know he understood me because we were face to face and not more than 5 ft apart. I explained it like he was one of my kids. That was why later when I caught him comeing in with a group worng I pulled his card.
Overall.....my oic job was easy peasy. You guys did that.

Please use the same colors next time, I've still got both of mine! Nah, just kidding.
I thought it was a great idea. It's a concrete reminder that you get ONE warning, exactly one. There's no bs about "Well, it's a different O.C. here, so I'll just get another warning," and you know EXACTLY what it means to lose a card. Very, very solid.
bikemancs
09 May 07, 11:57 AM
I think the card idea was awesome, but if you impliment it next time, maybe have the name, or nickname of the person written on the card and do a date time group or something so someone can't keep their cards (or if they loose their cards on the field or leave them in the staging area)
I guess I'm a dick...I pulled 2 cards. One for dead man talking as well. That is my biggest pet peave.........
Batman
09 May 07, 12:06 PM
We thouthe about that, but thought the extra time of writing on the cards during registration would lag the process too much.
Maybe we can stamp them next time, then have the players write their name on them after they leave registration.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all those who came out and shot em up at this game.
To my team mates i want to say GREAT JOB!!!!!
Batman took a very large portion of the games organization on by himself on very short notice and he did a splendid job. Timmay, Scott, Ryan, Marshall, Tank, Paul, and Beest, you have my sincere thanks for all the stuff you guys did running this game. It wouldn't have run without all of you.
As for me, what can i say, I LOVE TO BLOW THINGS UP :D I had a very rough week at work and it did wonders for my stress relief.
Next year the PYRO will be better with ALOT more of it. I think Dave was relieved that i didn't burn the place down or blow it up hahahahahaha.
On a side note guys, i have years of training and experience "playing" with explosives, please don't try this stuff at home, i have a friend whos now missing an arm and part of his face doing that.
HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL AT THE NEXT ONE :) :) :)

Milsim, pyros, a well thought out mission structure (with great OCs), vehicles & some great food. Definately one of the best games I've ever been to.
The begining was my favorite part. Everyone was so tense. We were all wondering who would fire first durring the demonstration. Anything you guys put together in the future I will be sure to come to.:D
Kenuchfleck
09 May 07, 04:20 PM
The Technical was a nice touch and an utter annoyance! Ever few minutes us guys holding the castles back door would have to scurry away as that flaming red pickup truck sped by with like 5 guys in the back shooting all over the place!
Truthfully my brother and I never saw the demonstration, never saw any smoke, never saw any explosions but we still had a great time. The sportsmanship was superb, I only got pissed once when A-Ron shot me in the butt and then blew up my artillery:) The only reason I was pissed though is because he has a sweet gun..
My only suggestion for next year is for the line between hostiles and non-combatants to be somewhat clearer. For instance, I didn't like that a guy could go around with his gun in plain site and not be considered hostile. You should be considered hostile if you have a gun swinging around in your hands. If you want to pretend you are not hostile you should have to actually hide your gun under your cloths, stash it in a hut or forgo firepower and carry an ultra concealable pistol. Rumors spread through the US ranks at the beginning of the game that some Afgan's were teaching other Afgan's how to conceal their AK's under their robes. We all thought that was cool but I was disappointed when on the field I saw no effort at all to conceal any weapons, and why bother when you could just carry it pointed at the ground and not be considered a threat until it's convenient for you to in half a second bring it up, shoot, and be actively hostile..

Someone asked me to post what the missions for the game where for both sides.... Here they are
Afgani Mission 1: Protest the presance of American troops.
Afgani villagers must stage a protest outside the American base. Signs must be placed on castle wall & a "hanging American" must be placed within ___ feet of the base's main enterance (Door that opens to road along side the tower field). It is up to the Afgani players to decide weather or not to enguage the Americans at this time.
25 Pts.
Successfull
Al Quita Mission 1: Create chaos at the protest.
Al Quita wants to create an international incident & embaris the Americans. To do this, they will try to turn the peacefull, yet graphic protest into a fire-fight. Al Quita will do this by planting explosive charges on the exterior wall of the castle, on any two of the "hidden" entry points & render them un-closable. Place the charges on any of the doors & notify an OC. (Americans within 30 feet of blast will be KIA.)
25 Pts.
One trap door, one main door - Not successfull
Al Quita Flag Missions: Mission flags will be hung by an OC. Al Quita must complete the corisponding mission to the flag.
Green Flag.
Defend & re-locate Ammo dump. Al Quita is maintaining an ammo dump, near the village, at the N/E corner of the swamp. The US is en-route to destroy it.
Take it's contents & move them to your secret training location. (Corral)
15 Pts.
Successfull
Yellow Flag.
The Americans are delivering Aide to the village. Intercept the American patrol, before they reach the village, and take the packages back to your training site.
20 Pts.
Not attempted
Blue Flag.
Disrupt American patrols. The Americans are conducting patrols of the area. Ambush them & inflict casualties, enough to make them turn back.
10 Pts.
Successfull
Pink Flag.
Bomb the US Artilary placement. Place bombs on the guns & escape.
25 Pts.
Successfull
Purple Flag.
Bomb the US Radio Tower. Explosive charges must be set up on the tower's top floor. Place them & escape.
30 Pts.
Successfull
Red Flag.
Jihad!!! Place one bomb in the US command center, on the 3rd level of the castle's main structure. (West side, next to main enterance) RPGs may be used to "soften" up the american defences, while attacking. Escape is not needed to succede in this mission. If killed, but still successfull, you wil be a martar!
100 Pts.
Successfull
US Mission 1: US must protect their base, radio tower & artilary site.
There is word that a protest will take place at your base today. Intel says that this will happen at aproximatly 1015 Hrs. Protect your base, while maintaining the ROE. Do not allow anyone inside the perimiter of the base.
30 Pts.
Successfull
US Mission Packet: Missions in this packet may be achieved by the US at ANY time and do not need to be achieved in order, however, missions must be cleared through AFCOM.
1. Find Al Quita Ammo dump.
Al Quita has been maintaining a storage cashe of exposives, somewhere on the outskirts of the village. Find it & call for EOD to destroy. Explosives will be red in color.
10 Pts.
Successfull
2. Take Aide Packages to villagers. Take air dropped aide boxes to village.
20 Pts.Not attempted (But almost)
3. Clear land-bridge of IEDs. There are 5-10 IEDs on the land bridge. Find them & take back to the US base.
15 Pts.Successfull
4. Complete patrol 1.
10 Pts.
Not Successfull
5. Complete patrol 2.
15 Pts.
Not attempted
6. Complete patrol 3.
20 Pts.
Not attempted
7. Observe for intel.
The CIA has also advised that there is a structure near the village with a flag pole outside. Intel says that the flag's color is an instruction to Al Quita operatives, telling them what their orders of the day are. Locate this Bldg & Identify the color of the flag, without being detected. Once an observation team is in possition, they will earn points.
5 Pts for every 5 Min they go un-detected. 10 Pts if flag is changed & new color is reported back within a min.
5 pts earned for 1 report back

Batman,
I'm not sure which one it was, but we went on one of the patrols and we were successful on it. It was the one that started in the bottom left corner of the Apoc map, moved up to the corner of the land bridge (with the colored flags), back towards the castle in between the swamp and the coral, and then curves in between the radio tower and the castle. I notified somebody on TFIH about it and I think he notified Tank... not sure though. I'm curious which mission that was.
If that was the patrol I was watching you guys went back through the land bridge. Not inbetween the swamp and corral. I believe I have the right crew. You guys milled about a bit around the end of the landbridge and flag and then went for home via the landbridge.

That was not us. We stationed up near the colored flag pole until prayer time and then hit the patrol route in between the swamp and the corral. My squad actually never touched the land bridge during th entire event :P
PS- I've played on the Apoc field many a times, so I am 100% of our route along the patrol. We also had Mike (The_Only_Bishop) with us who works for Apoc. :) He helped me pick the exact route through the brush in between the corral and the swamp.

i think you might be thinking of the wrong patrol group because on the way back from the patrol i got into a Firefight with them and i was nowhere near the landbridge, I ended up being taken PoW by them
Just a small aside for future games. I think it is a really good idea on these games where you don't know the missions until the day that everything gets layed out to the teams by the leaders. I think Neonbasschild did a good job leading but seeing as how even the guys on the command team didn't even know all the missions, we could have done alot better.

I second that, I think Derrick did a fantastic job commanding the US forces throughout the day. I don't think TFIH was able to go "outside the wire" very often and they were confined inside the castle most of the day! Great job on leading the US forces.
Haha!
Derrick and I had very little to any time outside the Castle, let alone much time to even think for ourselves :) Was a blast to do though...

Saturday:
I arrived at 4-ish and hung around with Paul, Loofah, Doc, A-Ron and a group of other folks who all decided to show up super early. As the day wore on, more people arrived at the field and we cobbled together some night games. Andy rolled in cussing up a storm and told me that he needed to shoot people. So he tossed on his NVGs and off we rolled. Unfortunately, our surprise raid came to a quick end for me, as my gun went down. After marching back up to the shack and cursing for a 1/2 hour or so, Doc helped me get my MP5 back in order.
By that point, the field games had ended and we played a bit of CQC in the shack. BBs were flying and some laughs were to be had. I have to thank Mr. Crow for causing me to need to see a shrink to help clear the image of him with the leaf blower out of my head. (I will forward the bill on to you Crow)
After the CQC ended, people started to taper off and go to bed. Beast and I were the last idiots to crash, finally packing it in sometime after 4:30am.
Highlights of Saturday:
Crow and the leaf blower.
Bending over infront of a car full of girls with paper towel (with well placed mud stains) hanging out of my pants.
Loofah not touching me in my sleep!!!
Seeing some folks I haven't seen in awhile and jawing away until 2 hours before we needed to be ready.
Skaar walking around with no shirt on..... once again proving that he is "bringing sexy back".
Sunday:
As Dave rolled in at 6-ish, I shot out of my slumber. Figuring I had a few hours to get ready, I sat by the fire with Dave's kid and ate some stale donuts. Little did I realize that I would end up helping Tank chrono (I offered, so I can't complain) until the safety briefing was nearly over.
After 45 minutes or so (mind you that the game had already started) I made my way to the castle to help harrass the Americans. As I was walking up, I handed out a few AG01s to toss over the wall.
As I walked up to the door, and was told to move back, some other Dirka distracted the guards, allowing me to toss a few into the front door of the castle. I know a few more were tossed at the wall and outside the door (and thanks to the asshole who took one of my grenades and kept it instead of throwing it) causing a few big booms. Funny stuff.
So I headed back to the village and took my role as Ghostbears body guard. Overall, the morning was tame for us, with mostly logistical stuff going on. I gotta give huge props to Chase for running most of the mission orginization for us and even bigger props to the River Rats for not only getting into character, but for also completeing every task thrown at them and even making up some of their own tasks which helped us out all day.
After lunch, we continued to run missions, but also headed down to the castle for a little shooting and some intel gathering. After the prayer ended, I walked around with my dandelion, gathering intel on peoples positions. Funny thing is that people won't shoot a Jew with a flower. Lucky for me that they won't, as it allowed me to determine how many folks were in the tower. After a few minutes of shooting, we once again controlled the position. (Thanks for not shooting me guys :D )
Shortly there after, as we all were ordered to become Taliban and the ROEs were dropped, somebody put a couple of bb's into me, causing my untimely death. As I walked back up to the shack to regen, I realized that I was out of steam and decided that I had enough for the day.
So ends my day of playing airsoft.
I hung around for awhile, chatted with some folks before I finally made an extremely long 1.25 hour ride home. (I know, a lot of folks had a lot further to drive, but damn, that was the longest hour of my life)
Highlights of Sunday:
Working with the River Rats (always a pleasure seeing you guys)
Playing a public game that wasn't just about shooting stuff
Watching Crow's role turn to the dark side
Harassing the US and A
Overall:
Well done TFD. You guys put on a good public event. I liked that fact that you were enforcing the rules and not letting folks get away with stupid stuff. The only "not calling their hit" person I saw all day was Marshall.... an OC. (Dude, next time, move away from the players so you don't get pinned with a couple hundred rounds)
Overall, I enjoyed the game, save for a few little things, but they were just the "first time jitters" kind of problems. I am sure the next game will run smoother. The only big fault I have is that the last hour of the game turned into a bb pissing match. With all the work you guys did through out the day, it just seemed a shame that you'd let it end just like every other game does.
But like I said, overall, well done.
I have to give a shout out to the Americans. Those of you on (bear in mind I don't know a lot of you, so please forgive me if I forget a name or it is incorrect) T.F.I.H did a good job getting into the part as you guarded the castle, CiFor as always, good to see you. Sorry I didn't get a chance to see Wolf Recon, the Madison and Eau C folks through out the day. For some reason I don't think we really ran into each other but once or twice.
To my Afghani brothers. Well played folks. The points may have us losing, but in my mind we defeated the vile Americans. Overall we worked well together and some of you who I never met before have made a lasting (in a good way) impression in my mind. It was nice to see some old faces and even better to see how many folks dressed up for the game.
Well, that's about it.

Funny thing is that people won't shoot a Jew with a flower. Lucky for me that they won't,...
I personally witnesses this one...He's right nobody would shoot the Jew with the flower. Unfortunately for me they were willing to shoot the Hawaiian guy (in the head, for Ala sake!) for calling for a cease-fire for prayer time.
It has become obvious that Matt has discovered some new mystical airsoft defense. Maybe we should dub this the “Jewish Agricultural Combat AirSoft Screen” or J.A.C.A.S.S.;)
This new defensive screen can be utilized by airsofters across the world. All you would need is flower and maybe a circumcision.
So all I need is the flower now?

Guess I'll post a little "sum-sum" about the game:
After the prayer ended, I walked around with my dandelion, gathering intel on peoples positions. Funny thing is that people won't shoot a Jew with a flower.
I was trying to figure out what the hell you were doing after the prayer, I mean, I know people weren't shooting at me (strangely, I think someone told them not to... which was funny standing in the middle of the field watching people shoot around me) but I could not figure why they didn't shoot you, I guess the ROEs were pretty dam good!
It was decided early on that no matter what he was doing, Maple was not a threat therefore we couldn't shoot him.

Well Fish... that’s the beauty of the JACASS defense screen. It makes it seem like your not a threat. BUT in reality you ARE a threat!:o

Awesome.
That reminds me of the time on the path when we had an American patrol and about a dozen Afghanis in a standoff:
US: Get off the road!
AFGANIS: But is our road!
US: Fine, but stay to the right! (We move to the right)
US: NO NO NO STAY TO THE RIGHT! (Guns up and everything)
We almost all got shot because they meant *their* right which was *our* left. Jerks :P
Yeah....that was Shogun. I was amazed at the amount of rage he was able to convey. Veru convinceing!!!

THATS the kind of stuff that makes OP's fun. We arent paid actors, but roleplaying vs scripted battles is so much fun.

Holy Crap! I'm on YouTube!
And I always figured it would be for...umm...something...else.
Given the opportunity to role-play I will max it out. I broke up an elite SF infiltration by yelling at them. After that, I was ready to hang up the VSR and just yell at people all day long.
Man...that was fun. Thanks to whoever posted it.
