Yea Japan's pretty ballin
I totally will be doing some serious 'softing here.
I was biking home from school today, and I saw a SWAT type of truck parked at the supermarket.
Of course I'm thinking wtf?
On the side was written STARS "special tactics and rescue squad". There was also a shield painted on the side that said RPD, racoon city police department.
I went up to the guy near the truck who of course was in his tactical vest and asked him about it. We talked for about fifteen minutes about, and it turns out that it is an airsoft team in Miyazaki that I had read about on the net earlier with the assistance of google translator. There is a field about 20 minutes away in the city.
In the truck, there were about ten quality TM airsoft guns which he graciously let me fondle. Keep in mind this was just two minutes from my house in front of a supermarket. The guy also lives right by my house.
We talked almost entirely in Japanese, which completely surprised me, I guess I'm learning more than I thought.
So yea, only in Japan...
Everything is well here. I got a good host family who is very supportive, and I have an Escort MP5SD6 coming in the next month or so. I will be having some of my gear sent to me soon so I can get some trigger time in.

...
If he got "rusty" on us... He would be just as good as you, me, or the "bath sponge guy." So I think we need not worry, lol.
Please do share some of the stories after you get a chance to go to a game over there.

I'd love to hear what kind of safety regulations they have in play there...I hear it can get pretty insane in the FPS limits! Hope you're having a blast. Keep us all posted as to what the airsoft community is like in Japan!

I thought I read that the Japanese play at lower FPS, and focus more on the externals of their guns (as there is a lot of CQB going on).

I've also heard recent laws in Japan banning higher FPS guns (Tanaka Guns are now made with an FPS regulator to shoot a lower FPS than what it use to shoot for Japan, though they have an export version without it). IDK, internet babble, I'm also interested to see how they differ from the average Wisconsinite styles... but they've got to still have at least half of the people with a cheese product, right? I mean... that's not just our games, is it?
Take lot's of pics (and maybe some movies!) Por favor.

Today, the STARS-mobile was in front of the fish store again, and I was lucky enough to have a camera with me.

There is a shop about 40 minutes away by bicycle that sells airsoft stuff, so I might check it out tomorow.
Talking with "Jack" again today, I found out that there is a teacher at my high school who plays. Damn its a small world.

Dude, that is totally insane. Talk about "The next level" of airsoft...:wide-eyed
A guy I work with is from Japan. He goes home every now and then to visit his family. His brother works for Toyota or something, and they-Toyota- apparently have a full airsoft field. They sponsor a team of employees and everything. Hell, they close shop for a couple of days for AIRSOFT. pure insanity.
i cant belieave(sp) that that guy just drives around with arsoft guns in his truck, that is sweet

I stopped at the local airsoft shop yesterday, and it was very interesting. The shop is tiny, but they have everything there. There were a couple M60s There's a lot of stuff that isn't made anymore like the MM grenade boobytrap and a couple sigs. Everything was considerably cheaper too. A used mp5 pdw was like $120 usd, and the sig 550 was about $100 USD. He had a lot of pistols including a few WA guns. TOP M60 for $650. And a ton of pistol accessories.
In the attic of my house I found an old school marui automag. The barrel is square and is rifled, and the mag has lips so it must have used shells.
On the 20th, I will be going to the field with Kurogi san in the STARS truck. He will be lending me a gun for the day. I will be sure to take many pictures for all of you.

would you be able to ship us guns back if we payed you through paypal?:)
please say yes... please say yes
Your going to pay almost the same as if you were buying it from an overseas retailer or stateside in some instances... Only benefit would be that he'd be able to get ahold of the stuff easier instead of pre-ordering, and new releases.

Oh my bad, I forgot to look at the mag and the stock...I think the paint job threw me off. Anyways they kind of look the same.
BTW ICS and JG are also making the SIG 550 series. The ICS one is going to have a metal body.
