View Full Version : Hello
Hello, my name is Kevin and I'm 18 years old and live in the West Bend area. I'm a friend of the The_Jackel and his brother whom has convinced me to enter into the world of airsoft. So to start things off today I went to The Wargame Room where I purchased my first AEG a TM G36C. As soon as I finish gathering the rest of my gear I'll look forward to meeting some of you at upcoming events.

Very good. I'm sure a few more people will weigh in after me, but here's a spot of advice.
Checklist (Decreasing order of importance):
Gun (check!) + Battery + Ammo + charger + discharger + ANSI rated Safety goggles + lube + Killrag + barrel sock
More Magazines (hicap(s)/lowcaps/mids/standards)
BDUs/Hunting camo
Assorted gear (tac-vests, drop-leg pouches, etc.)
Secondary weapon (pistol, etc.)
That's all I've got.
Oh, and of course, welcome! I'm sure Downslide or someone else will be around shortly with the official greeting.

Don't forget the boots and water!
Oh, yeah. Hey. Um... Welcome.

Lube...? Do you mean Silicon oil?!? ;)
Anyways, its always good to hear from a new player and how someone helped them to join this sport. A TM G36c is a great choice for a gun, hopefully it will show its potential... Hope to shoo, I mean see you out on the field.

Welcome to the forums! Hope to see you out on the field sometime. BTW, good choice on the TM. (TM fan boy talking here) Most newbs wonder the forums for 3 weeks, asking about cheap chinese knockoffs....we tell them not to buy them, they do, and the rest is not pretty. Again, good choice NOT buying a cheap gun. TM doesn't disappoint!:)

Welcome, Kevin. I think your TM was a good choice, too. I went with the TM MP5A4, and it's been great. See you on the field of battle.

Whoops, was thinking about your mom ;)
That JOKING aside, yeah, boots + water are very important. I got a Camelback myself to help with the water situation, and it works great for me. Make sure your boots are high-top and waterproof, you need to take care of your feet.
Don't forget the boots and water!
I take it you had a bad experience.

I couldn't comment on that, but they are both highly important. I merely neglected to mention them.

I had boots from the start and would never give up. Water is important to have on the field, but even more important to have the day before a big game. At the end of the first day of Codename Thunder 3 I spent a good hour or so collapsed in the US fort. There was plenty of water in my hydration pack, but I failed to drink up the day before and was suffering from light symptoms of dehydration. My friend had it quite a bit worse, but was able to stay on his feet until the game ended.
Also I'd like to mention that kneepads are nice but not entirely necessary, especially if you find them uncomfortable or always moving around.

I thought you were just all partied out from the night before :D
Welcome a-board Kevin. I think Agent J and Jun Wen covered the necessities, but remember, nobody likes to smell bad BO here in the states, so don't forget the deodorant ;) Oh... and I suggest bringing a little something to eat, like a granola bar or such item. For extended games I'd bring a bit more than that, that way when you get a break in the field you can just chew on the granola bar for a bit of energy boost. I'd also check to see what the plan is for food at the field, sometimes they have food for sale, sometimes they don't. If you don't want to pack your own food then I suggest either askin' or looking on a map to see what food places are near by.
Good luck out there, and be safe!

Haha. The night before was spent driving around the rural landscape trying to find their field. Who knew the address on CPX's website wasn't actually the address to the field? As I recall, my friend ended up by some railroad tracks and a car graveyard or something.

Welcome from all of us at Task Force Steel Horse! I will have to agree with the above post by Agent J...a word of advice hard learned by me on the charger...don't go too cheap...if you spend a good chunck of change on a charger, it will keep your batteries "alive" longer and preforming to their full potential longer, and it will last you many years assuming you don't step on it lol. As in the world of guns (airsoft), you get what you pay for when you buy a charger.
Hope to see you on the field soon...and nice choice w/ the TM G36c...very nice airsoft gun.
