I think it might be a good idea to make an area where people can post how well their transactions went with the other forum users...sort of like ebay, maybe? That way people can feel "safer" knowing that the seller has a "good" rating...
Just a suggestion that has probably been discussed before, but I couldn't find it w/ the search...

yes, I would also be interested in something like this, I am always a little leerie even just on these WAA boards, you can never be too careful, also, you may receive it and it is not what was said or different or something, you never know...
Thanks

I would like to see something like this. There is something just like this on the 2nd gen Trans Am board I am a member of and it has worked very well

This is a good idea. You can never be too careful, especially with people from other states that might wonder onto this board (I'm not talking about Midwesterners, think like east coast/west coast.) You want to know who your buying from is legit, and isn't going to run with the money. People in the state, that's kind of a different story, seeing as your bound to see them on the field and mention..."Hey pal, wheres the Glock I bought from you? I sent the money, but didn't get the gun" Just my .20g worth:D but this is a good idea none the less IMO.

It seems to work well as an information tool on the other forums I have seen...that is why I suggested it.

It has the possibility of being abused, but I agree that the concept is possible, and has worked well on other forums...
Think up some rules for the postings, and we can see what comes of it.
As for the rules...
Think of what to do in the following instances:
- Someone uses the ability to post that a seller/purchaser screwed them, when they didnt. Which side to believe, as many of these transactions dont involve receipts who is the right side to listen to.
- How do you PROVE that someone screwed you?
- How long does bad posts last?
- What if someone cleaned up their act, and like many things nobody that is now pleased comes back to tell everyone that the curcumstances changed.
- What if the problem is something like "I sent cash in the mail, and you never sent the item". How do you want to handle this?
These are the items that run through my head on things like this. But, yes it could work well to have such a database of sorts.

Maybe if we used radio button selections with only multiple choice pre authored questions to choose from. recommend...not recommend

Yea, that could be a way to do it.
I personally dont know, I think it will take some additional moderation to keep it under control, and that if there is some off topic or slamming, that it will be deleted and then action taken from the postings.
I'll check with the mods to see if they have any additonal information on this, or their inputs.

The mod team could always ask for a few volunteers(those who really want to see the section put up maybe) to moderate it. Of course those moderators would need to go through some sort of selection process and would probably need to be checked in on every so often.
But if it helps, I'll volunteer my services.
I also agree with the "one sided complaints". Maybe there could be different statuses... like, confirmed and unconfirmed. If so many people complain or recommend, then it becomes a confirmed piece of intelligence on the supplier. Just a thought.

Personally, I have been a forum admin for years and have built many websites and the buyer/seller feedback is a nice tool. The majority of the forums with items for sale have the feedback forum for everyone to feel safer, HOWEVER, they read and follow it at their own risk, its kind of like the kid the touched the fire, "Why did you touch the fire?" "Because he told me to". I mean, its up to them if they want to buy from this person or not, this would just show at least a little bit of their history, sure they can change if they are bad, but wouldnt you still want to know anyway? I know I would. Yes, there is a risk, but look at say airsoftforum.com, arnies, ASR etc.... they all have them and don't have any (spoken) problems. WAA, it would be a great tool, however you could put up the notice and say "The WAA is not responsible in any way for the feedback given about the sellers and you follow the influences at your own risk"
Just my thoughts...

GB, those are all good points. There is always a risk with something new...before the kinks and wrinkles get smoothed out. There is the opportunity for some good people to get a nasty rep. based on one a-hole that they sell to...however, I feel that the pros outweigh the cons in the usefullness area of this idea.
As far as keeping up the area, what with mods and all, I realize that it would take a couple more people that are dedicated...there is a high risk of posting that would be more or less yelling at one another...
That is why I started this thread...so we could see what the potential problems and benifites would be.
