I'm polling for interest in an AEC. I'm looking for number of players interested in attending the AEC and preference for location.
I have NOT contacted any field owner. Once I have a feel for where people would like to attend the course, I will start contacting field owners to check availability. We can't hold this course without being welcomed by the field owners.
AEC: Airsoft Education Course, required for 15 - 17 olds who wish to attend skirmishes. 18+ optional and welcome to come. Safety, basic marksmanship, and fieldcraft are taught with both written and practical testing.
Any questions or suggestions post here.

Reminder - I'm checking for interest...I'm not promising the course will be held at the most popular place. The field must be available. :)
Interested, probably atleast another 3 with me.

Me and my friend will attend if held, possibly a third guy to.

I will come and help if you want me to, But i have 3 friends who need to attend this one for sure: Pyrokid, SPANKY*AK-47*, and Ryam Lepacz (no forum name)
I attended the one this spring @ WGR and that was cool, so I would use that field if gary would let us do it for $5 like he did this spring.
Thx
For the AEC I will drop the charge to $5.00 for entry fee
i'm going for Wargame Room, kinda like it and dont' like change to much
how big is the tfd facility though?

I'm following all the results. I'll post a new thread when the site is chosen. Thanks for the feedback. Everyone who is interested should keep voting.

If you hold it in the last 3 weeks of Oct. (we are going to be in California from Oct 2 - 9) Then we could set something up for CQB training or shooting in the killhouse, at the same time, for those not needing the AEC should they want to come.

woot-woot. wargame room is my choice because its sexy there ;)
You must have never seen the kill house then.

if there's gonna be some CQB involved, i'm definitely in for it. my vote goes to the TFD facility.

I think that's an excellent idea, so you already know where my vote went!

As much as I love the sound of CQB in the air...maybe it would be best to seperate the two events. Just a thought.
But let me know when, cuz I'm there!
My opinion is that it should be the wargame room since it is such a common field, and probably the first place most new airsofters will attend skirms at. The CQB option isnt even for the AEC-takers, so it kind of skews that option because all the non-aec takers will vote on tfd's facility just because they want to play some CQB. I agree with professor, and think that perhaps the two should be separate events.

The voting will be swayed by the fact that the non-AEC people will want to go there. So I guess I will take back the offer and just do somehting else.
I honestly cannot understand how holding an AEC at the same time as CQB will be a problem. When they are on 2 different sides of the property and one has nothing to do with the other. But hey, I invited and I tried.

Hey, I voted for WGR, but Iv been iching for some more CQB. I havnt had any all summer!!!
Anyhoo yeah, I am kinda real interested in doing some CQB.
BTW, RTO me and some other friends have been playing for a long time, Iv been in for as long as RTO, so I started when I was 12. Some of us on here may be young and new to the WAA but certainly not to airsoft.
ha ha ha.. i remember when it was your brother and i and you thought that it was so stupid to be doing and then you go and buy a pistol anyway. then your brother his G3A3 and then my y&p famas, and then you had to go top us all off with your damn ak.. bastard!

Yeah, those were the good old day's when i was the only one with and AEG. I almost nvr lost. Then there were those months when i was like the only one using a springer cuz I was "inbetween" AEG's. I still got kills though, even if I was the rabbit. i just got shot alot more.

Whoa.
I was distracted by some real life events. I come back to read this thread, and...well...umm...If you're reading this you know what transpired.
Leaving everyone's opinion out of this, the voting is pretty close between WGR and TFD. Speaking chronologically, the FIRST AEC I ran was at Manitowoc, and they have a set up that is very good for the AEC. Since I haven't been there the longest, I'm leaning that way.
Also, just my opinion, if TFD wants to hold a CQB event at the same time as the AEC, that's great, but the two events will not be connected. I can't run CQB, I'm not qualified. If I'm teaching the AEC, I can't participate either, so I have no say in anything CQB. If the events overlap, you will be able to do one or the other, not both. If TFD wants to hold CQB something AFTER the AEC is completed, that's their business too, but just like any other AEC the course comes first and will not be rushed to "get to the skirmish at the end".
I wholeheartedly thank TFD, as well as the other fields for their continued support of the AEC.
I'll get a date confirmed as soon as I know my work schedule. It will be most likely LATE October.

im come.. not that i dont knwo anything about airsoft, but hey everyone has THEIR rules, so ill come down and see how its really done.... might be interesting!
MP5, AEC is always a valueable learning experience for both new and veteran players. It's also a great way to meet people in the airsoft community.

yes, i agree, i almost want to go through it before the BHD game, just because thats the way i am...i'd rather go into a game predetermined on a style of play (one learned at an aec) than going into my old habbits from the day of paintball, and doing the "spray and pray" granted i am becoming more and more tactical/stealthy than i did in paintball, i think that i still need an aec to feel as tho i'm playing a different sport. because lets face it..they are simular, expecially if your fresh from paintball going into airsoft ;) note: i'm not saying an aec will teach me tactics, but it would certainly help.
yeah that would be cool if we could have and AEC at TFD, and if we did have it at TFD would it be more on the CQB style of play or just an AEC??
Black_Kade
15 Sep 05, 05:57 PM
Pyro, It would just be an AEC, I guess that the CQB is for those that already passed or for anyone who wants to try it once they have finished the AEC. But the CQB is NOT part of the AEC coarse.

I would like to go to this one, from wut i read it sounds cool, but do i need to be in a team to play and is it limited to how many can come
SPANKY *AK-47*
16 Sep 05, 09:49 AM
no, you do NOT have to be on a team. the AEC is set up for use simular to hunter safety. it teaches you the basics of airsoft, and how to play the RIGHT/CORRECT way. it also teaches you to pick out targets on the feild, and just the all around basics, and safety issues of airsoft. i havent gone thru one yet, but i have heard all about them from my Teamates. :D

SHOGUN, have we got a date and locale yet?...need to put it on the calendar so I can plan to be there to help out.
Hey Timmay, we gonna do gear again? Now that I have 4 Aegs I kinda feel like your little brother ;)
it depends on where shogun holds it.. if at TFD's facility, no, if at garys.. yes.... i have no clue what shogun decided as the final resting place of the aec so await his further instructions

If you are reading this thread and notice a number of posts are not there anymore, they were split into a new thread. So, there might be some of these posts that are not perfectly in order. It is the first time I used the split thread function. And I am not going to edit everyones post to eliminate minor references of the off topic arguments.

I am sorry for the delay in starting a new thread with the date, but I haven't received my schedule from work yet myself. It would be pretty bad for me to schedule it and then find out I can't make it myself, wouldn't it? ;) As soon as I have my own schedule for work, I'll reserve the field, notify the instructors, and post a date.
I haven't forgotten, dropped the ball, or gone to "New Orleans". :]

And yeah shogun I saw you at the last AEC so when gary asks, it's ok you passed last time......... we hope.
LOL, J/K

Besides working for a living, he does do other things in his personal time than just the AEC.
Now times that by about 5.
Thats how many people will be needed to instruct, and they have lives also, including myself. And it REALLY bugs me when people are pushy about it, after we said give us time to set it up.
If anyone has a precanned plan of perfection, im sure we are all open.
Including
Time
Cirriculum(spelling) including papers test etc
the people qualified
a field where you can do this
a field owner that will do it
other supplies such as targets, gear, pens, measuring tape, boundry tape etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc!
im done.

then maybe he should have THOUGHT ABOUT IT and not advertised it for OCTOBER and said THIS FALL then he would not have gotten the hopes up of about 15 + people about going to an aec THIS OCTOBER...
DOES THAT NOT MAKE SENSE???
I understand it takes alot of planning but a person should not give a time frame if it can not be delivered... the could generalize a bit more...
Shogun in no way am i discrediting you at all i do respect you, you do alot for airsofters however alot of us were looking forward to going this october...
however i think it should not have been said that it would be an October AEC if it might possibly not be in October...

Hmm.
I posted more than once that my job did not relay my finalized schedule to me until 2 weeks ago. For the last 2 weeks I have been trying to confirm a date for the field, but the field owner/representative was out of town. He got back last night, and I got confirmation for the date today. See the new thread for details.
As far as geting people's hopes up, if you re-read the posts, I was careful to say nothing could be confirmed for sure until all the details are in place. I had hoped that some people would appreciate me taking a poll ahead of time to find out what field they would prefer to have it at.
And as Timmay said, there are 4 or 5 instructors, and a field owner that have to be coordinated. It's not just me. Sorry to everyone who had their hopes dashed because it's not in October.
Thank you SHOGUN for the planning and I hope to make it down there (Maybe my boss wont' be a jerk)

WHOA WHOA WHOA, HOLD THE F' ON!
Since when did all this fall in MY lap?
"For the last 2 weeks I have been trying to confirm a date for the field, but the field owner/representative was out of town. He got back last night, and I got confirmation for the date today."
That is an outright lie! I was in CA, from Oct 2-9th You didn't PM me until Oct 4th and I let you know the date today after talking with Chris H about it. That is only 8 days MAX, NOT 2 weeks. Don't lay your excuse for whatever it was on me saying you were waiting on me. And don't stretch your timeline further by using ME as a scapegoat when all I did was offer a field for you guys to use.
I do not like being the one to offer up a field for use, then when excuses start to fly and fingers are pointed, being one of the ones who is the reason for it. I would just as soon wipe my hands clean of it and the rest of the politics and can find my own reasons for being a jerk and bringing my own heat. I don't need anyones help in that department. And you are not part of the politics and just want to help the WAA? Yeah, you just showed that my friend. So I guess we have to make a choice. I know, we will be the ones who are at fault and be bad mouthed for it, but...
I think you need to find a new field!

that is funny shogun cuz this is the name of the thread... does that not imply that there IS a AEC in October?
Poll: Next AEC: October
I am sorry if i brought up a touchy subject but i am a person who looked forward to going to this as well... i am a person who when something is going to be said is going to be done in a certain time frame DO expect it to be done by that time
for instance if the TITLE of a thread states AEC: October i would half expect an AEC in october...
likewise if some one makes a skirm for the 15th of a month i dont want to go and find out he decided not to go...
it is kind of my fault and i do apologize to every one... SORRY as I didn't try to bring up a touchy subject like this. I feel the forums are a place to put your opinions and did so...

Nothing I posted was blaming Night Stalker. TFD has been a strong supporter of the AEC for the whole time I have been in the position, and I'm grateful for their assistance. I have worked hard to avoid the politics that plague this organization.
I told Night Stalker in PM's that I had been trying to get a hold of him for some time, and that it was my fault the messages didn't get through. I referenced 2 weeks as the time I had been trying to get in contact with him, not implying that he had blown me off. I don't know why what I posted was interpreted as blaming Night Stalker (who I did not name), but it was. I wasn't blaming anyone, I was explaining why there had been a delay.
Once again, I'm grateful for the assistance of Night Stalker and TFD in hosting previous AEC's. I'm disappointed that this misunderstanding has become public, and resulted in the loss of Manitowoc as a field for the upcoming AEC.
The AEC is postponed indefinately. A new post will be made when a new course is scheduled.
Sad face
This sucks, but maybe we can get more support and more people with the next one and have it set in stone a bit in advance again so we all know whats going on a 'lil further in advance (not saying we wern't given notice or anything).
