it was worth every penny and more if you ask me, some of the most realistic milsim combat on the planet

the 113 is just sittin there, i haven't played with it since coming home at the end of august, i need to get motivated and do some maintenance on it but i hate cold weather and snow so it will just keep sitting there till it gets warm again lol

How do you sign up. Everybody I have talked to said that pretty much now you have to be invited or have some sort of "in" inorder to get on the roster

Rattler
25 Dec 06, 06:13 AM
Anybody can sign up but you have to be 18 (can be avoided) and have to have a good maturity level and I believe you have to have your team leader or someone sign for your maturity if you are under 18. I think the entry is around $250 and you get to mil-sim with Col. McKnight, SSGT, Muller etc... From what I have heard it is an amazing event and not as hard as you would think to get into, I am not sure but that is what I have heard. My question is how long is it?

Thanks

does the person who signs for your maturity have to be someone that will be attending the event?

I am not 100% sure but I think so. There is most likely even a small list leftover from this year that are on for '08

GmOrgDir

To clarify, you MUST BE SPONSERED by a veteran player from one of the Lion Claws events in order to attend OP: Irene.

You MUST BE 18 YEARS OLD to attend OP: Irene because it is held on a military post, armed military police CHECK EVERYONES ID AT THE GATE, if you are not on the reservation list, do not have a valid ID, or are old enough to play you are removed from the post.

Preference is given to returning OP: Irene veterans and only a few non-veteran slots are available each year. NEW PLAYERS MUST BE SPONSERED to be considered for an open playing slot, this ensures the quality of the players remains high, and that fair play and sportsmanship remain at the fore front of the event.

This event is usually FULLY BOOKED in the first three hours of the opening of event registration.

You actually have to FOLLOW THE ORDERS of your chain of command or you are asked to leave the event. They use a real command structure which is vital to the operation of the event.

The event runs from Sat. morning until Sun afternoon including a full set of nighttime missions.

It costs veteran OP players around $200 for entry, New players pay around $250

IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY AND MORE:D :D :D

ummm ok so how do you go about getting sponsored by vets of the previous games if you dont know any

Rattler

there is one on this forum.... if only I could remember his username, otherwise I think GmOrgDir would be considered a vet.

its hanzo. Id go for sure this year if there were still spots open, looks like its going to have to be 08

GmOrgDir
27 Dec 06, 01:38 PM
yes, i am a vet in both real life and for OP: Irene. Hanzo, Blitz, myself and several others whos names escape me at the moment are all OP: Irene "vets".

How do you get one of us to sponser you??? Prove to anyone of us that your an honest and mature player, simple as that.

Registration hasn't even started for this op yet, it usually doesn't open until sometime in july so you got time.

I gotta second GmOrgDir on that one. Both he and Blitz (I don't know Hanzo well enough to comment, only seen him at games) are good guys and if you can show them a thing or two on the field, then I bet they'd vouch for you.

I know that we don't have any MOUT facilities in WI (at least opened to the public) but be aware that there are some great "MILSIM" ( -stirthe: ) games in WI and IL too. Just gotta know the right people to get the invites as most of them are private games. Sure, they may not be as big or as "cool" as the Lion Claws events, but then again, they aren't $250+ either.

Nope :D, but we do have some pretty good fields, however some of the better ones are not even know by the majority of Wisconsins Airsoft community.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, gives us "elitist's" somewhere fun to play. [:Y:]

That is why I did not list them :D, they are concealed and they want to be kept that way for a reason. I like each type of game for its own reason, at the private games, you know when you shoot a person they will call hit, but in the other battle you have more people to go against. That is just the tip of the ice berg but as I said, they each have their ups and downs.

BTW Trans, when I said "show them a thing or two" I didn't necessarily mean skills-wise, but more of intergrity (sp?) and that kind of stuff.
Hell, if it boiled down to skills, I wouldn't even get invited to public games. :D
As I am pretty sure that you are an okay guy, I don't foresee you not making friends with some of the guys who might be able to pull a few strings and get you an invite to Irene.
The only suggestions I have for you are:
1. Follow my lead and make sure to introduce yourself to as many folks at games as possible. You'll make friends quick. :D
2. Don't follow my lead and don't act like an asshole. You'll lose friends quicker. ;)
3. When all else fails, fresh baked cookies speak volumes.

i had the pleasure of enjoying irene last year so now i am very elite. ROFL! watch out for me maple... i can do backflips while shooting you ;)

in all seriousness heres my take with irene.

if your into milsim then this is the game for you.

irene standards are:

-squad assignments are a must. if your the lonewolf type then your better off going to CPX games w/ a C-MAG. (pun intended sorry) rambo only exist in movies and he is comming back for more action...
-there are ranks and one must respect their squad leads (most if not all squad and platoon leaders are actual servicemen) they require you to call them by thier ranks (not by 1st name). they will be offeded and may ask you to leave.
-uniform requiremnts (woodland under msg. Mullen; 3 color desert under lt.col.mcknight)
-low/midcap only
-full seal googles (no mesh allowed)
-1 saw gunner/ squad
-1 m203 gunner/ squad (believe me you will need an m203 w/ nerf rounds as they will help you clearing windows)

also, i think it is also ideal to go with our team that way you and your team will get to experience maneuvering thru the streets of zussman. and thier role players are the best... then know what the hell their doing in terms of role playing coz these are the actual role players our elite military use and to qoute 1 role player from last year she said she was offended coz "nobody touched her". they have told us that these role players get tossed around really bad.... in any case irene is different since majority are civilians.

the props for the game is by far the best and i **** you not... the suicide bombers WILL place these really LOUD pyros 20 ft. away from your squad if you dont pay attention. imagine that 20 FKN feet! and i didnt even sign a goddamn waiver. (pardon me venting here coz we have way too much drama in IL that lil things get too complicated and that you have to read a 50 page charter and sign waivers.... its disgusting!). anyways these pyros will freak you out.... its nuts... the technicals are also way too cool... loud mock 50 cals kik ass... anyways i can go on and on but the entire 8hr drive back to chicago we still cant wipe the grin of our face- it was that good.

lastly, just like every open game out there- there are still jerks out there who dont take hits or shoot you in the face point blank and this happend last irene, so you also have to be careful coz 400 guys all over the nation you can only trust bout 3/4 of the 400. but is it worth it? HELL YEAH! to me, irene is not a game but an experience.

id still go back this year even if they go up $500.

ps. this year im no longger in the wait list... SUKKERS! :D

so if you go along, say with a team of 8 people, will you get placed in the same unit? or will they break you guys up?

Ghostbear
03 Jan 07, 01:07 PM
You would be hard pressed to get a unit that size into the game if they are new. There is a VERY limited number of open slots available, and they go within an hour of being open for signup.

Plus, you have to have a sponsor, so it makes it kinda more interesting to get 8 of them to sponsor a team of that size.

youth in asia
03 Jan 07, 01:13 PM
but say you WERE able to get the whole team sponsored, would they stick you together organization wise?

Maple
03 Jan 07, 01:17 PM
Assume that if you were able to get a squad in, and you all had matching BDUs (per the event rules) that you CO of which ever team you were on would try and keep you together, as you have been playing as a team for some time.
But then again, this is all speculation, so I may be wrong.

Ghostbear
03 Jan 07, 01:28 PM
It would be as much as possible. They could split you into two four man teams and put you with some vets, but I dont think they would put a full 8 man team that is all new, in the same squad if they felt they could use you elsewhere.

Now, since the squads are 12 men per...

They might just figure that 4 vets with 8 new could be good to go. but that probably would be a call on the your team leader over the event. If the team leader is ok, then I would think the organizer would be as well.

So, kinda. :)

A good place to ask would be their forums a few months before the event. That would be after they purge the forums for the new event date. So, that would get you the answer from the people that run it. Which is better than any supposition that anyone else can offer. :)

you can request your team to be in 1 squad, john lus pretty cool, he makes sure everyones happy and he replies emails fast too :). they had all of us from IL. under 1 squad as our request.

I wish they would convert the old abondonded Badger Ammunition Plant into some sort of MOUT/ urban warfare facility but that is never going to happen. Though it looks like it would be cool, from the times I've driven by, to play there how it is. Oh well, I can dream.

I have dreamed that for so long. Having lived in both Sauk Prairie and Baraboo, You kind of get to see it an awful lot. Wonder who you would have to talk to to get permission to play on it.
