View Full Version : Beginners Game

I have had a lot of youger people coming into my store asking about playing airsoft.
I am thinking of sitting up a beginner game, age limit 12 and up.
Parents could get their younger kids involved in the gaming, and play with them.
Anyone interested in playing in a beginners game let me know if you have younger kids that would like to play which I know Sandman, and USMC both have then this could be a good start for them.
Anyone would be invited, but remember this is for beginners. Any type of Air soft guns could be used to include springers, the skirmish would be sit up with this in mind.
I would like to start the game with a safety briefing (more involved then the usual safety briefing) this one lasting maybe up to 1/2 hour, this would be a required briefing to play.
Any interest please respond and I will set up a game date.

You said for parents to bring their kids. I have a 15 year old brother who is probably interested, and was wondering if it was ok if I brought him. Would that be ok as long as he had a parental signed waiver? And are you limiting the guns that can be used at all? He would probably be using my L96 since I don't have anything else, and of course adhering strictly to the 100 foot rule.

yea i hate when u mention something like o i play airsoft to people they automatically get the byoist opinion that its people running around with little plastic springers and getting into trouble...at least thats the way it is around here....i think this would be a good way to help kids get into a competitive sport/ activity, and get away all the byoist opinions about the sport and how its played...except if we did get alot younger group in wouldnt we need to change to age to be able to play at an event to something lower? maybe 6 yrs old :] ....maybe not

The age limit is not set in concret, my insurance will suport ages 10 and up, so 12 was just something I was thinking about. If you have a friend or relative that is 10 0r 11 and you think that they could handle playing that would be fine with me.
As far as parents the only thing I would need from the parents is a signed waiver form, and have the player bring it with them for the game, same as another one else under 18.
The guns, again any type of Air soft gun is welcome, however remember we are looking to get younger people into the game, and not have someone with an AEG shooting 450 fps, leaving marks on people, which would scare these youngert people.
I will start looking at dates and set somethin up, if you have a special date in mind let me know.

I think my 10 yr old cousin would like to come. He's been to a few FOX practices with his dad, Dell, so I'll talk to him about it and see what he says. The kid loves his dads stuff and always wants to come to events. Maybe having someone thier own age who is already familar with the game would help encourage the younger kids. All in all I think this a great idea Gary, getting them knowledgable before they play will help us all. Thank you for stepping up with this idea.

OK, You Said 450FPS For AEGs Right? My PSG-1 is going to be "Just a tad" ;) Higher that that. But then again, usually Snipers Can Go above the regular Limits. Respecting the Semi-Automatic rule (PSG-1), the 100+ Foot M.E.D., and, ofcorse, No headshots...

I may be a "Younger" one, but I'm more than accomplished at using common sense. (Moreso, than my "peer" group.)

I'd Like to come to this one... See If "us kids" Play any differently than uh.. "us adults" (I'm Basing myself on 2 different scales here.)

(Maybe Tim Will vouch for me?)

first of all the sniper rule is 400 fps...
and semi auto starts at that...

and these are little kids we are not going out there to litterally kill them

Mirage

So...

Lets get this straight..
"first of all the sniper rule is 400 fps..."

Snipers may go no higher than 400fps, correct?
Ok... Then, in that case, whats the regular rifle limit?

280-328 for Regular Aegs?
and 328-400 for Snipers?

"and semi auto starts at that..."

Or does that mean everything above and equal is semi-auto? If so... that contradicts the first statement, by "start" as if, it was to continue up the FPS ladder.

Yes, I agree, We're not accually trying to kill the little ones.. But then again, 12 isn't that little, Maybe you can put Full Masks on the ones that arn't elligible targets.
Anyone under 11 or 12..

and just Eyes for 12 and up... at Age 13, You probably should be able to take some pain. I'm...uh.. 14/15ish.. and i blew away my knee with my 470fps Uzi at pointblank..

by accident.. I didn't even pull the trigger.

sure it hurt.. but that was POINTBLANK... I'm going to be 100+ feet off.

..otherwise..

Uh, I don't know if I'll be allowed to come..

I don't know of gary's specific limits but the WAA rules say 400-550 i belive is classified as a sniper weapon. After you pass 400 (400.8 or so) your gun cannot have a functioning full auto, and you can't engage any targets with said gun within 100 ft. Anything that lands directly at 400 or lower is considered to be a standard rifle.

Night Stalker

FPS limits are max 400 fps. You can use semi or full auto.
Over 400 and you are classified as a sniper.

As a sniper that means, you cannot use full auto and your gun CANNOT be capable of even being switched to full auto. That also means standard capacity magazines ONLY. And a 100ft rule is place.
Also, you cannot exceed 550fps or your gun is considered "HOT" and no longer usable at the fields.

So...

Regular AEGs - 0-400fps MAX (break over 400fps and you are considered a sniper)

Sniper Rifles - 400-550fps (Break over 550fps and you don't play)

This game is to get the younger players inetrested and involved. I would say if you have a sniper gun,.. leave it at home and show a little compassion. If you have a springer AND an AEG,.. be a man and bring the springer instead. You want the little guys to WANT to come back and play. Not get their heads blown off and run away scared.

Gary- Kudos for organizing this type of game.

It kind of looks like most people get what I am trying to do. If I have to put a max fsp for this game only I will, but as said before lets gets the young one involved and not scare them away with someone shooting holes in everyone.
If you have a sniper rifle leave it at home and bring a springer, this is something to have fun with, and get future new players involved in the sport.

i am just trying to start out and i think this would be great for me, (i am 16) any way i live in the green bay area and am the first person i know to have an airsoft gun. (its a cheapy $5 springer pistol. i figuered i should check it out before buying a whole bunch.) soon i will have an UTG MP5 and Sig Sauer P226 so if this waits another week or so i will actualy have weapons that shoot more than 45 feet. and if i can get some of my friends or even my dad to come this would be great fun.

I have come up with a simple 3 team concept game. A search and destroy type game with two teams joining against the third who would defend. Then switching teams on the defense. Points would be awarded for taking out keys players which would also change often. This would give everyone a chance to be a VIP.
Let me know who is planning on attending.

if i come...can i come just to play, or do i have to bring a younger kid (if i can..my little cousin who is 12 would love to go, but his parents wont go with him, can i have them write a letter, or sign that waiver so that he can learn how to play??) if my cusin is not able to go due to your own rules, wich is totally understandable i would like to be there either to OC, or just play. ;)

**E.M.R. count is at 2**

Yes he can come, go to the web site below, (Thewargameroom) there are waivers there that his parents can sign.
You can also play, I am not going to use that many OC's so everyone is invited, and everyone will be able to play.
I will have cheap springer pistols, and glasses (15.00 for both) if parents would like to play for the first time with their kids.
