Dear Wisconsin (and surrounding areas) airsoft community
I am taking a survey of different ways to do games so that we can make the Wisconsin airsoft environment an even better place for everyone.
First off, your favorite terrain,
1=What do you like? urban, woodland, swamp, field?
2=What do you like more, bunkers or a more natural field with fewer bunkers or no bunkers
3=What engagements do you like best, longer range, CQB, mid-range, sniper range?
4=What style of milsim do you favor? Modern Warfare, Nam, WWII, or Sci-fi etc
5=What team identification do you think is most legit and yet easy to identify? i.e. armband, headband, hat, towel head :D
What I mean when I say most legit is like different uniforms for teams, yes it works out the best in most cases but not everyone has the correct uniform for the team they wish to be on. If you would like to expand on the questions or the answers I have stated please feel free to do so, this sport is for your own fun and use of leisure time so have it the way you want it.
Thanks for reading,
Rattler
... this is for your own fun and use of leisure time...If thats what this posting is about, I feel it should be moved to a different section on the forums.

I meant (and edited it to say so) that the sport is for your fun and leisure so you should have it the way you want it.
If this belongs somewhere else, could a mod please move it. I did no know where else it would go.
Thanks
Rattler
New players area would be my bet. Its for questions and suggestions.

1) Field - I use a VSR-10, so is it any wonder lol
2) Natural field - if any bunkers, have them be piles of dirt...natural
3) Longer range - Once again, I use a VSR-10...
4) Modern warfare - up to date
5) Armband

1=What do you like? urban, woodland, swamp, field?
I like everything next to swamps because I haven't had that much fun in swamps (BHDII and Op. Viginlance.
2=What do you like more, bunkers or a more natural field with fewer bunkers or no bunkers
I like everything and if there's alot of cover I'm a happy camper.
3=What engagements do you like best, longer range, CQB, mid-range, sniper range?
Longer range, CQB and mid-range are my favorites but when I get a sniper rifle then sniper range will be my new favorites.
4=What style of milsim do you favor? Modern Warfare, Nam, WWII, or Sci-fi etc
Nam and Sci-fi are the two I favor but I don't think anyone would come to my Starwars game.
5=What team identification do you think is most legit and yet easy to identify? i.e. armband, headband, hat, towel head :D
Hat and towel head are easier to see because I shot to many teammates with the other two. :(

yes, we are already booking up at the SAS Field, [b]
2007,
Janurary, hostage situation, sci-fi?
Feburary, WWII possibly
March, Border Patrol
April, OUR VERSION of BLACK HAWK DOWN, accepting sign-ups already
May, Nam style, woods and weather will be a LOT like nam jungles, trust me
June, Desert Storm
This is not a set schedule but a most likely to be, we are trying to keep things rotating around and see what people like. I will keep the weather as closely simulated to the real style of weather in the time period of the scenario. I cant wait for our nam ones because we have vines and plants everywhere with it beeing a lower land area so it is a lot like nam. So this survery will be taken into affect at least in the upcoming SAS games.
Thanks for the input so far, keep it coming.

,
1=What do you like? urban, Woodland, hilly
2=What do you like more, bunkers or a more natural field with fewer bunkers or no bunkers- Lots of cover but it has to look like it belongs there. CQB city environment would be my favorite (OP irene style)
3=What engagements do you like best, Long Range and CQB
4=What style of milsim do you favor? Modern and WWII
5=What team identification do you think is most legit and yet easy to identify? Camo requirements, armbands
I like games that have well thought out storylines with many back up plans is something unexpected happens. Also prefer objectives and I like to have discretion in how id like to procede with them
I don't think anyone would come to my Starwars game.
Hey, I thought that sounded like fun. Realism is fun, but sometimes you just have to get crazy. :)
1=What do you like? urban, woodland, swamp, field?
Personally not a big fan of the swamp. Wet feet suck. The rest are good though.
2=What do you like more, bunkers or a more natural field with fewer bunkers or no bunkers
Natural cover in a mostly open field is the best because it takes more skill to hide, and when you can pull it off it's pretty sweet.
3=What engagements do you like best, longer range, CQB, mid-range, sniper range?
Mid-range is my favorite. Far enough away that I don't get welts, but close enough to feel a hit.
4=What style of milsim do you favor? Modern Warfare, Nam, WWII, or Sci-fi etc
Like I said above, I think a sci-fi game would be fun to try (somebody make a staff weapon :D , but otherwise I'm happy with any style where I get to shoot someone!
5=What team identification do you think is most legit and yet easy to identify? i.e. armband, headband, hat, towel head :D
I really liked the towel head idea. It made the enemy easy to identify, yet it didn't stand out too much when trying to hide. It seemed to work well for both sides.

Yes, what really worked very well for us in our most recent battle was a headband, I would like more input on what others thought or it but I think it was very well. Also, I am 100% sure we will do AT LEAST 1 sci-fi game this year at the SAS field, just not sure when, the Janurary battle is leaning towards our D-Day and beyond re-enactment so planning is beginning for that however Feburary is looking open for a possible sci-fi, and who would be better to plan it than "JediBGP" himself if he is interested ;) .
Again, I really apreciate all the input guys.

All I am going to say is:
Armbands.... uggh!
A good group does not need any tell-tale signs of who the enemy is. A bit of communication goes a long way. And yes, even in the real world "friendly fire" does happen.

That is actually what I am leaning towards doing with SAS Team but the only problem is the people who do not know the people on the team may confuse them. As in real life they LIVE with their teammates, they know them as good as a brother in some cases (I know). I am trying to base our team around real military style but the only problem is the fact of going against people outside the team. And yes, friendly fire does happen in real life. That is also a thing I like to simulate to try to get a little closer to that confusion, the state when your mind is at the point where it has to STOP. War is an intense thing that can NOT be simulated; however you can try to and can come rather close to doing so. When you are walking along and all of a sudden, your teammates are gone, you cannot get a hold of anyone on the radio, fire starts coming from everywhere, you are all of a sudden hearing non-understandable orders over the radio. You see muzzles flashing all over and yet have no clue what has happened, you hear whizzing of bullets but do not know where it is from, you hear gunfire behind you and don’t know if its your teammates or the enemy, you start to gather your wits and go for cover, you get there and try to think of "Ok, what is happening, what do I do now", A bullet hits your cover, you hear a scream, a shout and yet have no clue what is going on, you try to think of what to do but can not figure out what is happening now. All this and you have not yet fired a shot, all of a sudden a bullet strikes right next to you, you see a body and shoot, it falls and you wait a few minutes and realize it was a teammate. Now you try to cope with the fact you have killed a teammate and try to move on....
That is something that is extremely hard to simulate, especially without military training, however I am working to get as close to it as possible.

I agree that when you don't know your team mates (such as at a large game) it is often hard to tell who is and is not on your side.
This is easily solved by things like camo requirements or radio's.
Another thing I like to do is to look around while squads are being formed and look for a friendly face or two amongst each squad. Or in the event that I don't know anybody on the squad, try and pick out something tell tall about a few people. (I.e. a real tall guy with a MP5K, or a guy wearing a shemagh, etc.)
Another system i like to use is a password system. You see a group of people coming, draw a bead on them and yell out for a password. if they don't answer, shoot.
I just find the whole armband thing silly, because unless you use subdued colors (which are hard to see at a distance) then your armband sticks out like a sore thumb. Last thing I want to do is run around with a bright yellow armband on, especially when I am in L33t N1NJ4 M0D3.
