View Full Version : TM G36 hicap mag feeding issues

both of my Tokyo Marui G36 hicaps are suffering from a feeding issue, one more than the other. what happens is that when i'm shooting i'll fire anywhere from 5 to 15 BBs (not necessarily all in a single burst), and then the BBs will stop feeding. the mag will still be fully wound, but when i take it out the BBs aren't flush against the feeding hole (they're "loose" in the feeding tube). a solid tap will get the BBs feeding again.

i took the really bad one apart to see if i could figure out what the deal was, and i think it might have to do with how the spring and "feeding" gear are meshing (or aren't meshing). the bad mag also seems to fully unwind much sooner (i.e. after a fewer number of shots).

has anyone else had this issue? there's a thread on the old forums where someone had a similar issue with their mp5 hicap, and a trip through the dishwasher fixed it (followed by a fresh lubing of course). so will that maybe work for my issue? should i use detergent if i throw it in the washer? should i use Jet Dry? could i just hand wash it? what kind of lube should i use (will silicon oil work)? what about just re-lubing it? [these are serious questions, btw...ok, maybe the Jet Dry question was for laughs. ;) ]

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

try lubing the mag, and lubing the injection port on the gun were the bbs go into.

he means the feed tube. but yea, lube the mag at the feed neck. use little as possible.

uhhhhhh.. dishwasher safe of G36 mags is most likely not. considering they are made of plastic, they might crack with the high temperatures that the dishwasher might get up to.

i had this problem and i took it apart and what my problem was, was the spring was broken. i fixed it with a bit of trouble, but its after i finally got it done it was like a kick in the nuts cuz i could have fixed it in one step.

the platic peice that holds the spring to wind it up broke off.. i turned it around because it has two slots on that "pin" if you'd call it, and i just switched it around and put it back together and it works perfectly now.

what causes the bbs from misfeeding though is they jamm up and more than one gets in the small wheel that feeds the bbs so then it might unwind or just not feed.

these are my personal expierences and yeah, they might be wrong compared to others

thanks for the tips, guys. i forgot to mention that i've already tried lubing the feeding tube though, and it didn't really change anything. i'll try taking some pictures of my mag and post them here - maybe someone will be able to see what the problem is.

in regards to taking the G36 hicap apart, after i take the inner mechanics out of the BB reservoir shell, and take out the 5 or so screws in order to separate the two halves of the mechanics, i still can't separate the two halves because of the large feeding gear. the gear has an alan socket on it, but i wasn't sure if i could, or even should, try to take it off. is that something i should risk in order to get a closer look at the gears and springs?

after you take the two halfs apart you have to take off a c ring on the backside of the internal peice... its kinda tricky to do it w/o scratches, so as long as you don't care then just get a screwdriver/knife and pop it off.

if your going to bhd and you wanna come a lil early i'll take a look at it if ya want.

just one question though.. are you having troubles w/ the feeding or with it unwinding now?

if its troubles w/ feeding (sorry if i'm being redundant of something you already did), are you filling it to the top and kinda squishing every last bb in that you can fit? or are you leaving it a little bit empty when you fill it up?

when i had troubles w/ mine unwinding, i noticed that the spring that kept the gear from unwinding was pretty loose and i had to kinda "bend" it back in a way to that it was tight against the gear again and i havn't had the problem since.
