how come there is no general discussion area?
We (the WAA membership) feel that the sections we have fit the majority of the typical general airsoft discussions. There are a few forums areas that may be added in the future (i.e. gear/ gun pics, AAR, etc.) but a general discussion is most likely not going to be one of them.
And to add the fact that it does nothing but promote useless and senseless posts, which we still have without that section.

But since the useless topics do still exist, why don't we make a place for them?
Depends on how useless posts are handled: either make a spot for them and allow them (encourage), or delete/mod them when they do pop up (discourage). My personal opinion is to not allow them because, as A-Ron stated, it only encourages and promotes them. If there's a place to post them then the WAA must want people to use that section and encourages people posting the useless threads. Having the mods handle the occassional useless post sends the message that they are not wanted and eventually people get the hint, granted new forum users will have to learn by mod'ing. I think there are enough alternative forums/bbs/groups (yahoo, myspace, blogs, personal forums, team forums, etc) to do that kind of thing if it's really necessary to post those types of things. Not to mention that most "general" sections devolve into battle royale's with bad feelings and other negativity.
There is a place for useless threads already. It's called the Thread Graveyard.

my whole point was just for threads that had no real category but people wanted to discuss topics or just talk about airosoft games they have been to and airsoft topics that has no category.
no big deal.. just most forums have a general discussion area.

and here is what proves my point
Sorry, if this is in the wrong section. I put it here since I could not find a better one, since there isn't a general or off topic section.

There is a general discussion area in the wisconsin airsoft players forum and it has turned the board almost unreadable due to the mountain of junk people post. It is really nice that WAA polices the board like they do. The moderators seem willing to place threads in the right spot if they have a relevance to the sport of airsofting. If you want to talk about random stuff, just go to another forum. There are plenty of them around.
