Ya i havent takein the corse yet, they havent had one for awhile
I think you'll find the poll a bit skewed, as a lot of the older players don't hit the forums often or at all.

You say it like its a good thing that there are more of us young idiots running around playing in public parks and shooting at cars driving by. No offense to all the responsible youngsters out there, but the thought of so many of us kind of makes me sick. And I am only 17. Oh well, just as long as I don't see any of your asses on the nightly news for something airsoft and felony related, I guess I don't give a ****. Just please, don't do anything to make us look any worse then we already are, and for heavens sakes, figure out what the **** a search button does, Dear Lord!!!

Nein! I am good german, I listen to Rammstein and like Heckler & Koch! ;)
Besides, we're only saying we have a problem with immature people screwing around, and mentioning that rather a large number of said group of people seem to be coming from our very own age group. I am assuming that this poll "kind of" indicates the dispersion of ages in airsofters on this forum, noting that a fair percentage of the older more mature players are either on this board or on well-organized teams, so we can assume that umm...pizza is good? Seriously I have no idea how exactly this poll indicates that there are a lot of immature noobies elsewhere, but it seemed like a good thing to complain about. I guess we have most of the more mature/older people here, and most incidents (I would like to say all, but I'm not omniscient) take place because of the actions of people who are not among the members of this forum, so I can assume that most everyone who is not on this forum (I know this is inaccurate, but I'm trying to keep the post short, no offense or anything), and who messes with airsoft is a teenager, and is more likely to be comitting these safety crimes, and so the more in our age group who come in as new members of the board, the higher the statistical probability of having more irresponsible people on these boards. Or something.

Yea, don't be one of those kids that asks, can I use propane in my guns?
Boy, I didn't think there were that many people under the age of 20 playing. This was definately an eye opener.

Just randomly select a few games and measure the ages of the players at them, then that would be much more accurate. There are a number of lurking variables here like maple pointed out, such as the population being measured is not people playing at the games, it is people who frequent the WAA boards and consider themselves airsofters. The 30+ category also can skew things as it leaves that section of the population largely undefined. I am surprised that category is not the mode result, but that would be explained by older players not frequenting the boards. I would say that our gaming population is still small enough an analysis of this kind is not needed; we can still go by gut feeling and personal experience at the games.

I would say that the games I have been to the age range usually is like
<16 - 15%
16-18 55%
19-24 25%
24+ 5%
What does my favorite industrial metal band have to do with the average age of wisconsin airsofters?
Maybe that it is music that transcends generational barriers?
On topic: the 21+ numbers are off a bit I believe, teams like the Elite Dragons aren't on these boards much but if you play at the Lair you'll definitely meet them.

i voted 16-20..im 15 now but ill be 16 before i play my first game
That will be taken care of very soon, no one has to worry my 4 offspring are enough...
Back on topic, I think age determins how many bbs will be shot by the player, Look at this way, if you are young your going to shoot a heck of a lot more bbs than someone older. Look at Gary B he goes out and shoots maybe 3 bbs and kills a dozen people!

Lol, nice. Any way im only 13... I have a UTG sniper an i shoot 20 bbs in about 15 minuts and 25% of those are hits. But if i had a nice kwc mac11 id be fireing a full can of propane+ 3000 rounds in 15 minuts! :D

lol, true
I tend to disagree...BB's shot has nothing to do with age much at all, it all depends on your aggression or your position. Just because your old doesn't mean you shoot less bb's...sometimes it helps to look at the type of airsoft gun they have and their gear loadout. The type of style of game. I can see where younger kids 16-under shoot more, they tend to spray and pray, or due to their lack of experience rely more on their ROF than their skill. I'm about 17.5. I'm deffinetely not experienced at least in my opinion. I haven't played in that many games, in fact I started playing at 16. I still know what I am talking about for I have been playing speedball for a few years before airsoft. Some of you may agree, I feel more negative feelings from the older guys because of my age. It's not because of me, but most of the carelessness and lack of experience and making bad decisions from other kids, that give the kids a bad rap. I don't want to seem like I hate younger kids because I could still be considered one by my peers. I just rather play with the older crowd: for their higher experience and usually more maturity. I can deffinetely learn many things from them as well.
As far as Gary and the WGF...isn't it his field?!? He knows the whole field and has played there for a long time. I'm sure he knows what to do, when to do it.
My advice: play respective, honest & responsible. Don't give the younger kids a bad rap. (that's why I quit Paintball to escape all them.)
Take the AEC course you'll pickup & learn alot more things that you might have not known. Plus it'll be required for most fields. It'll help gain you the respect that you might want.

It is interesting to see the array of ages. However a little further analysis (and I am no expert) would be interesting.
For example this poll takes a snapshot of when people saw this and participated. You could argue that the sample is large enough to give an accurate depiction of the current range of players. I haven't been playing long enough to get a good subject idea. However, this could also be capturing people when they are 'starting' to play. IE. The folks who started when they were..lets say 19. They came on the board, voted and very possibly still play and may be 25 now, they wouldn't retake the poll. Meaning that most people start playing between 16 and 20, not that most players are?
Granted I think the frequency of play will probably decrease with age (on average) as well.

This poll doesn't mean much to me. If you have the maturity level and responsibility required for airsoft i'll play with you, no matter what age. But I can't stand people my age (14), or any age for that matter, misusing airsoft. It makes me rage on how all these things happen like sb 798 because of people like that...hate to see airsoft getting a bad name. Anyways, maturity matters the most imo.

What's my excuse? I'm an ancient old lady! LOL:)
In all seriousness, I understand what you mean. There are oftentimes a lot more responsibilities in a person's life when they are 30 vs. when they are 18, so time and money become major issues.
I know that the amount of trigger time I've gotten this year vs. last year is much less, due to health/time/financial constraints. I do, however, still get to faff around with airsoft some, so my sanity is maintained:P

I started playing when I was 47. I just turned 50 last month and play more now than when I started. I hope they allow wheelchairs on the field so I can still play when I'm 90.:D
