15 - 17 year olds need to take an AEC. It is something that will probably end up being required at all fields. Keep an eye on the events forums, that is where they will be posted. There is one coming up at the end of April. Gary (WarGame Room) is having a safety briefing that will allow you to play until you get to an AEC. This is not a free pass to anyone not attending an AEC. This is only temporary.

After reading this last statment, I'm wondering......

Hypothetically:

I'm 16 years old, I play airsoft frequently at Gary's field and every time I just get there early to take Gary's Sub. AEC course thing. I do this for two years until I turn eighteen because I feel I don't need to take the AEC.

Even say that I'm 17 and I do it...

Whats to stop some of our players from doing this? I mean, is it going to be allowed or is it going to be looked at or how are we going to combat or address an issue like this?

Please refrain from flaming, this is directed towards members of the WAA, our AEC committee, and most importantly, Gary. I am looking to their input to this matter.

Gary is keeping a record of everyone that is or has attended his safety briefing. He is also trying to get a list of everyone that has completed an AEC. He may have gotten one, but I am not sure. His briefing does not have a expiration date, but it is intended to allow people to play until they can attend an AEC. I'm sure if someone wanted to try and bypass the AEC they could drag it out for a period of time, but 2 years would be doubtful. We always try to think the best of people, and I can't think of any reason why someone would try to get away with not taking the AEC. It doesn't cost anything but some of their time.

Is it possible? I would have to say yes. Is it likely? I would hope that no one would try to take advantage of airsoft in that fashion. It is supposed to be an honorable sport.
Oh, and it isn't an "AEC substitution." Eventually all will be worked out to keep anything like what you suggest from happening.

Thank you Dogboy. I appreciate your input and feel the question has been answered to the extent I'm looking for.
