-INtel-
After narrowly escaping the noose of U.S. forces, Drug lord Hector Chiro went into hiding to lay low and resurrect his once mighty empire. Meanwhile the U.S. attempted to stabilize the region, but encountered stiff resistance and corruption on all levels. The American public tired of countless body bags returning home and forced the Pentagon to withdraw the majority of its forces. Along with DEA and CIA operatives, the U.S. left some garrison troops and Special Forces advisors to train the newly elected government’s armed forces.

After some time passed and his dealings with international arms dealers and militant organizations began to bear fruit, Hector Chiro is ready to once again to return as Colombia's premier Drug Cartel leader. With a series of car bombings, well-planned surprise attacks and help from the locals, Chiro and his surviving lieutenants have managed to gain a foothold in Colombia and reclaim their former cocoa farms and factories for production. The remaining U.S. forces and Colombian armed forces were overwhelmed through firepower and attacks from within.

Not wanting his term to go down in history under these circumstances the President of the United States has again sent in U.S. forces under a Coalition banner including British, Philippine, and Russian units to battle the scourge of the international drug trade. Mission parameters are to capture or eliminate Hector Chiro and his mercenaries, once and for all…

I was able to go to the first one in 2004. I had a lot of fun and it was definitely worth going to. The date is really close to Op: Red Venom 2 though, which may deter some people from going. I will try to make both of these events and I may be able to bring a few with me.

PRESS RELEASE:

“CODENAME: THUNDER III”
TWO-DAY AIRSOFT EVENT
TO BE HELD AT CPX SPORTS

April 17th, 2006 – Chicago, Illinois- Summit Lake Entertainment, the premiere Airsoft event promoter and filmmaker in the Midwest, is proud to announce its “CODENAME: Thunder III” Airsoft event, scheduled for August 12-13th, 2006, “CODENAME: Thunder III” will be held at the CPX Sports Theme Park in Joliet, Illinois. This two-day event marks the first 2-day Airsoft event to be held at CPX Sports, and will no doubt capture national attention as Summit Lake Entertainment and CPX Sports join forces to create a phenomenal Airsoft experience.

“CODENAME: Thunder III” is an intense Airsoft event which will play-out over a two day period. The upcoming game will continue the original storyline of past “CODENAME: Thunder” events, which tells the tale of a U.S. incursion into Colombia to capture the infamous drug lord Hector Chiro, immortalized on video and DVD by Summit Lake Entertainment.

Hundreds of players will be divided into two armies and pitted against each other in a series of missions over the two-day event. Players will decide the outcome of the plot as they battle on the various CPX Sports fields, including Armageddon- a bombed-out city, Jungle of Doom a Mayan temple, and Bedlam an eerie, abandoned small town.

As before, the event will be filmed by Summit Lake Entertainment for future movie and DVD releases. Look at it as a “Reali-Drama” that centers on an Airsoft event unlike any other in the world.

“The Thunder series of events have become wildly popular, thanks to the success of our videos worldwide,” explains Justin Brown, president of Summit Lake Entertainment. “We wanted to hold T3 at a location that would add to the ambiance and excitement of both the event and the next video. As a
world-class facility, CPX Sports definitely fits that bill, and we know players will find it a fun and challenging area to battle in.”

Ray Dagnino, field owner of CPX Sports, commented, “Airsoft is a new, adventurous, high-energy game, and that is exactly what CPX Sports is all about. We are excited to work with Justin Brown and Summit Lake again, to bring a large-scale, quality Airsoft event to our park. Our themed fields will enhance the experience for the players, and hopefully they’ll return to play Airsoft here again in the future. Maybe at our Windy City Classic in October”

All specific event and registration information about “CODENAME: Thunder III” can also be found online at www.CodenameThunder.com (http://www.codenamethunder.com). For field location, directions and camping questions, check out www.CPXSports.com (http://www.cpxsports.com).

A friend and I have registered and will arrive on Saturday. I'm hoping for cool weather so the full-face won't be a major issue. I think we'll be camping on site, but we haven't hashed out the details yet. If I can, I'll be bringing more from my group.

Wolf Recon is taking about 8-10 guys with us to Thunder 3. we are showing up early Friday, camping, hanging out, and then hitting Saturday hard. We are going on the US side. If anyone wants to get together during the game, let me know. My staff sergeant, Rick, has been to Challenge Park Xtreme twice now. He is starting to get familiar with the terrain and fields.

Challenge Park Xtreme is also hosting airsoft games every last Sunday of the month. A few of us are probably going down on the 25th to check out the field. I think it's like... $25 for all day of playing or something like that. Rick went last month and about a 100 people showed.

MERT

TFD?

Tank
16 Jun 06, 10:32 AM
Well seeing as the WIAA is the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletics Association
and there are no school sponsored airsoft teams I'd say there will be ZERO WIAA teams there.

Now WAA (Wisconsin Airsoft Association) teams...That's another story.

Maple
18 Jun 06, 04:48 PM
Actually, to be specific, none of the teams you listed are WAA teams. That would mean that they had to be WAA member teams.
So in all actuality, what WI teams are going? ;)

How many Wisconsinites are planning on going to Thunder 3?

So far Wolf Recon has 7 people registered and 4 or 5 more will be registering soon. We are all playing on the US side and wanted to know if other Wisconsin players wanted to play on the US side and get together during the game. We are setting up camp Friday afternoon and will be hanging out that night; everyone is welcome to come by our camp if they would like.
