I suppose as long as you stay in your village and don't run around (prime spraind ankel territory) it would be funny.
..., are there any rules against wearing Ho Chi Minh Sandals to the event?
I'd be very careful as Mr. Crow has already cautioned you. To many risks can come up with running in around in just tennis shoes, let alone sandels. That call might be up to Gary.

Nah RK, just wear boots, better to be safe and not sprain your ankle than being historically accurate but have a very good chance of spraining it.

I belive I will be coming, and to remind you I have never been to a game yet. Only with my buddys in some woods by my house. So I was wondering what all happens before we start and what not, I will show up a hour early becasue I have not yet had a AEC and I heard I have to be there a hour early if I havent had one. Ill probley bring 3-4 people with me who also havnt gone, cant wait to meet you all. :)
Mr. Crow
01 Jun 06, 07:23 AM
It's mostly cerimonial,
First we do the crossing of the boundries. Thats where 4 new players are sent out to the 4 corners of the playing field to urinate on the sacrificial ground. This is to keep away bears, wolves and migrant workers.
Second we reenact the annexation of Poland using 20,000 oragami soldiers and paper masche tanks.
Third we sing side two of Led Zepplin 4.
Finnally, either myself or Kennedy dress up in drag and do the final dance scene from Napoleon Dynamite
__________
For real,
Get there at 8 as briefing is at 9. During hat hour you will read the safety rules and take a test. Then you will have just enough time to gear up. That means load an wind your mags, check your radio and load up your horse (you).
At 9:00 I will call everyone together and we will have a field briefing followed by an event briefing. Two things are important.
1. BE ON TIME TO THE BRIEFING. there are always people (Usually the same ones) who are still over by their car during the briefing and then have no idea whats going on and they go and find the OC for a personal briefing.
2. LISTEN TO THE BRIEFING. Some people have it in their mind that the briefing is only for those people who are slaves to the system. So they just figure that they derseve their own special briefing later when it is totally inconvenient.
If you have done or ever do either of these things you are a huge reason why recent airsoft events get so confused so quickley and why we have dozens of players with no mission wandering the field.
nough said
Second we reenact the annexation of Poland using 20,000 oragami soldiers and paper masche tanks.
Memebers of Tiger Recon are folding papers like MADMEN to get these created for the the game! :D
xKy13x Gary will post the time that the field will open (most likely will be 8am). You will need to also let him know how many need to take his safety test/briefing before hand (day before) by PM either here or on his forums.
Once Crow gives his spiel someone from the Safety commitee will give the safety speach for everyone. Then we can start the game when Crow is ready to start.

Is there anything in particular you'd prefer VC wear?

Two questions -

Good Questions.
I am going to stick with Woodland and Tiger for the US. I don't like using arm bands. As far as I am concerned, VC can wear jeans and a Led Zepplin t-shirt. I would be nice if everyone had black pajamas and a teepee hat, but thats just not going to happen. Now if only one guy shows up with OD and he wants to be US I won't worry about it, but don't count on that.

Well, actually thats what I will be wearing in the event that I can get a ride. The only thing is that I might be leniant (sp?) on wearing the hat because I know bbs would shred right through it. I know headshots are looked downed upon and slightly uncommon, but I dont know if I'm gonna take the risk.

[edit] P.S. A couple questions:
I know all of this can be covered in the pregame rundown, but I figured I'd try and get us ahead of the game a bit.
--1 a.) If no VC courrier is in the village, the US shows up and the Village Leader is KIA, is there a chain of command so they question someone else or are they out of luck until the Leader respawns?
--1 b.) Also, for the villagers to respawn, they do so as soon as US forces leave.
Is there a time limit (minimum) before US forces can re-enter a village or can they just step outside the boundry and re-enter, triggering a respawn of the VC?
--3.) What constitues the village area? Are we talking 50' at most from the nearest building, 25' from the edge of your clearing? (just doing some loadout planning)
--4.) Is there a timelimit for the interrogation?
-Sorry if I'm jumping the gun, but I know I could use a bit of clarification so it couldn't hurt to ask.

--1 a.) If no VC courrier is in the village, the US shows up and the Village Leader is KIA, is there a chain of command so they question someone else or are they out of luck until the Leader respawns? No, Vc work on a need to know basis. but if the currier is there, then it doesn't matter, because the questions that would be asked would be stuff like "when was the last courier here and which way did he go?
--1 b.) Also, for the villagers to respawn, they do so as soon as US forces leave.
Is there a time limit (minimum) before US forces can re-enter a village or can they just step outside the boundry and re-enter, triggering a respawn of the VC?Due to the Geneva, WI convention of 1994, Troops may not attack the same village twice in a row, just like a courier can not hit the same village more than twice on a score card. It keeps the game moving. Don't ask about the score card I will go over it tomorrow
--3.) What constitues the village area? Are we talking 50' at most from the nearest building, 25' from the edge of your clearing? (just doing some loadout planning)[ b]About 100' out from the hooch in all directions unless otherwise noted.
--4.) Is there a timelimit for the interrogation?Ask the necessary questions and go. US forces may not occupy a village for any longer than they have to.
SuperGnome
09 Jun 06, 09:29 AM
Cool, thanks for the reply. I just want to reclarify the first question.
The first question was for with the village leader is killed in action when no courrier is present. Since he's dead until the US leaves he can't be questioned.
If there's no chain of command (which is how I took your answer), the US would want to do everything in their power to not harm the leader. If the village leader is a casualty, they're out of luck until they go to the next village and come back.
Thanks again!

To A-Ron who was apparently taking all of our cards... Yes, we were always "THERE". Sometimes on purpose, sometimes not. We were having some communication troubles and were pretty disorganized (my fault). Ended up with full on engagements with your force when we should've taken off. We were having fun in the firefights though, and that's what it's all about.

hehe, yeah... He actually turned down the pointman position because "everytime [he] gets point, he gets killed right away". Not an exact quote, but close.
We did have a knack for running into trouble though.
I have about 12 Quick time movies, The quality is below average, but I need to find a way to put it all together.
If you would like to send them to me, I will do it for you. I have two programs that can get the job done. Just let me know.
Ok, so it was to my understanding that there was a Madbull Landmine there... who set it off?
How did it feel, lol? I was watching someone setup something, but I never tripped it?
How did it hold up (Ameoba, I think it was yours, wasn't it)?
Wait, there was a landmine in play and we were not told about it before the game..... ummmm, not cool, not cool at all.
Its actually suppose to be brought up at the safety breifing, but I don't think the topic was touched unless I just didn't hear it.
I don't remember anything of the sort. I'd have also liked to see it tested whether it was mentioned in the briefing or not. If I had felt it was unsafe, I would have passed on playing that day.
Crow had setup a few of his "mouse trap" land mines, but I wasn't aware of a madbull. No one aproached me about it.
I was aware of the mouse trap mines, and have no problem with them, as they have been tested and demo'd for the general public and proven to be safe.
I have no problem with the land mines, save for the fact that there is limited "proven" safety of them. Personally, I still would like to see one used in a controlled enviroment before giving my personal thumbs up on them.
It is up to the field owner to decide if they are safe for use, in this case Gary, and I am happy to oblige by that. But from a personal stand point, until I see one tested and proven safe, I would rather not play with them. If that precludes me from playing a game, that's my choice and I hold no ill will about it.
Just don't want a nesty surprise one game from a landmine or other device that I am unaware will be in play.
