tim you said you got a newer version. so does that mean that the one I linked is out of date or does that mean that the link is the new one? because it would be awsome to have a good throat mic for that price
and isnt there a diffence between a sound tube and ear bud. I have all these questions that you would have to expect from a greenhorn
the difference between a sound tube and a normal ear bud is that.. on the sound tube.. the speaker isn't connected to the ear directly.. its connects to the front end of the sound tube.. the reason why these are benificial is that they are hard to see from a distance (they're clear) and the sound is cleared up because some of the rubber tubbing absorbes the distortion and projects a cleaner sound..
Plus when the ear part of the sound tube is out of your ear.. you can't hear it hardly because its not directed to the ear canal. unlike earbuds where the speaker is right there and if its out of your ear for some reason.. it projects sound that the OPfor could hear...
an ear bud has a tendincy to amplify it too much at it can potentialy damage someones ear..

i have the same one as bucket, and the earbud on it is horrid. it comes apart VERY easily, and is uncomfortable. but other than that, good transmission quality, and good bang for your buck.

actually, i said only the earbud wasn't up to my standards. other than that its great. and if they would've had the option for a sound tube in place of the bud, i would've picked that first hands down. but it's all personal preference i suppose

Alrighty then...how about the Pryme SPM-1500 Gladiator Throat Mic? It's expensive enough it should be good, eh? Anyone have any personal experience as to whether it's worth the $?

I found a review ( SPM-1500 Review (http://www.predatorairsoft.com/throatmicreview/Pryme.html)) that said for the dollars it was near the signal quality of gear costing near $400 or more so I ordered one...will obviously let all those that communicate with me on the field know how they do.

I have the cheaper one, but replaced the ear bud with one from a body glove phone headset that works much better. It protrudes into the ear a little and hooks around the ear. it's much more comfortable and better sound too.

Ramza has a Military issue throat mic he got out of Brigade Quartermasters i think. But he also bought one from Radio Shak that sucks horribly, so dont buy one from there if you see it. The military one is a little nicer but its still pretty quite sounding.

I got fire fox throat mic and my neck is to skinny I need to bulk up because even though it feels snug when I twist it and make it even tighter you can actually understand me then

Anyway, I hope no one has posted this before, because if so, I will pull my hair out and dance around the block sining "Old McDonald" at the top of my lungs :s

Well, my Pryme 1500 Gladiator arrived today and it is NICE! With my tests today I can say the earpiece is terrific and I think the throat mic is very clear - but will have to wait and see what the other end of a conversation with me says on the field.
I'm going to try and go down to the Lair this weekend and I'll let everyone know how it works.
