Sweet, im there, OP:FA was my first game aside from an AEC and it was the shiz.

Mr. Crow
23 Jan 06, 08:59 AM
Yea, what I think is going to be interesting is how there are playing roles that go from haphazard anarchy to sergical precision and everything in between. I also think the regen rules could make this very interesting.

26 Jan 06, 07:46 AM
i read the info on skirmishes but didnt see, is AEC required or not?

Mr. Crow
26 Jan 06, 08:49 AM
If I have my facts right the WGR will be requiering an AEC this summer, and since we will be following WGR rules, then you would need an AEC to play.

demonmutiny
26 Jan 06, 08:52 AM
alright

garyb
26 Jan 06, 09:11 AM
If you have not had the AEC contact me before the game and I will give you my Safety Course, this does not replace the AEC but you can then play at the WGF.

Mr. Crow
26 Jan 06, 11:52 AM
I am just throwing this out ther now and I will continue to remind you over the next 4 months leading up to this event, but unless you are on OMEGA 2, you will need to have both your BDU top and bottom, and a CIVILIAN TOP. Which you could wear under the BDU top while playing the role where you need the BDU top.

There will be times where you may have to switch teams, if you forget and only bring one or the other, it will cause issues in how the game plays out.

The Reason? When you look at 3rd world civil wars (there are many going on every day) What you will find is that the tendancy is for people to back the winning army for fear of retaliation. So whatever team is holding the presidential palace will be getting more people.

And don't worry, it will not get too one sided, as there are plenty of surprises waiting to keep it interesting.

ok i think ill make this one if most if not all my team... and btw Crow..i dont know if i missed this part in the thread or on the freewebs page but how are you going to choose who is going to be Omega 2 and all the other stuff?

Mr. Crow

ok i think ill make this one if most if not all my team... and btw Crow..i dont know if i missed this part in the thread or on the freewebs page but how are you going to choose who is going to be Omega 2 and all the other stuff?

Omega 2 consists of a member from most of the prevelent teams. They are chosen by their teammates or leaders. Then there are a couple of independants who I know to be outstanding players.

If I didn't contact your team it is one of a few things,
1. I didn't know you were a team
2. I have never seen your team at an event
3. You are a just forming team.

It's nothing personal, if your team was not picked this year, and your around next year, remind me and I will stick you on the list.

TEAMS

Nicaraguan Military: Military BDU's (not Black or OD)

Cuban Special Forces: OD BDU's

The Rebellion: BDU Botoms and civilian top (not black or OD)

OMEGA 2: Uniform; Black top and bottom preferably a black hat

So that would mean ANYTHING other than black or OD unless you're on one of the teams that wears black or OD.

So for the rest of you, I would like to have you all sign up, just so I can get a rough estimate on numbers, it will effect the scenarios.

Nicaraguan Military: Military BDU's (not Black or OD)

^^Put me down for that. I am assuming by Military you mean Woodland?

Mr. Crow
30 May 06, 10:02 AM
I am assuming by Military you mean Woodland?

Not necessarily, What I mean is any matching Military uniform beside OD or Black, that could mean Woodland, Tiger Stripe, Flectarn, Digital or whatever.

ALL REMEMBER as stated in the Special rules. You will need to have a civilian style shirt underneath your BDU's Blouse. In the beginning of the game some of you may end up having to switch teams. I can be a t shirt, hawian shirt or whatever, but not a BDU.

Mr. Crow
31 May 06, 08:00 AM
I do not know if this has been used before, but I am instituting it for fallen angel and we will see how it goes.

REGEN RULES
1. EVERYONE NEEDS A KILL RAG (Not new, but you will see why it is important)

2. WHEN YOU GET SHOT, YOU MUST LAY DOWN AND PUT YOUR RAG ON TOP OF YOU. (should make for some pretty cool death sequences)

3. YOU MAY NOT PROCEED TO THE REGEN POINT UNTIL THE BATTLE AROUND YOU IS EITHER OVER OR HAS MOVED ON TO A NEW LOCATION.

Hopefully this should take care of endless standoff.s

Mr. Crow

Also to any of the special characters:

Kennedy
Secret guy playing Gleason (You know who you are)

Still needed to fill roles

Rebel Leader Jesus Chalupa (Rebel Leader)
Fidel Casteroil (Leader of Cuban SF)
Omega 2 leader (will be voted on by omega 2 at a later date)

All of you will need to be ready to go at least one hour before everyone else. You personal briefings will be detailed and time consuming. I need to make sure everyone knows what they are doing before they walk out onto the field.

OMEGA 2 is now Complete

Cuban Special Forces is now full

All remaining registrants will need to pick between Nicaraguan Military and the Rebellion.

Remember, no matter which side your on,Nicaraguan Military or Rebellion, you will need both a matching BDU set and a civilian top underneath.

DO NOT FORGET!!!

If too many people screw this up, we will have to go with armbands, and I hate armbands.

Ameoba Grande
25 Jun 06, 12:37 PM
I didnt bring my mine to the field yet.

Sweinster
25 Jun 06, 05:34 PM
Yeah, Amoeba hasn't taken his little mine to Gary's Field. Anyways, it's just a little mine that makes a knee-high cloud of flour. You can also use flour, cornstarch, or just add the green gas and use it as a pressure sensitive mine, it's pretty loud, so you'll hear if someone is out.

-Sweinster

A-Ron
25 Jun 06, 05:38 PM
Sorry Ameoba, someone had brought mines or claymores or something, and didn't bother to tell Gary. He, nor anyone who should have known, did. Upset a few people there, including myself.

And its not the matter of what it is, or how it works. We already had a HUGE debate thread about this. Its the fact of the matter that it MUST be brought up to the field owner and it requires the field owners approval. Something that did not happen at the June 10th game. We found two spots of powder on the field near tower two, and a bb bottle full of powder during the game.

Saying it again, it upset a few people there, and whatever was there should not have been used without approval.

Brigdh
25 Jun 06, 05:43 PM
june 10th.... hooch hunt? you mean crow's little mouse trap?

Black_Kade
25 Jun 06, 06:13 PM
No, crow I dont think was using powder in his?? We found powder spots on the field from a small mine bieng set up, also crows had stakes on the bottom of it, there werent any stake holes in the ground to undicate that it was crow. in addition it was set up near the south end of the tower 2 clearing when it was set off, crow was at the hotel most of the day. The gathered intel indicates it was a VC soldier since the american squad was alltogether prettymuch the entire day, and considering it was set up within the T2 hooch's outer limits it had to be VC, if it were an americans the vc would disarm it right away...

Thankyou watkins you info was boring, yet deductive...

Brigdh
25 Jun 06, 06:18 PM
ah, i see. i was stationed at t2 during the first part, when crow gave us one of his little mouse traps, and podwer, but we never really got it to work. mighty intresting.

Sweinster
08 Jul 06, 08:13 AM
Yeah, I just took mine out of my garage, it's not really red, it's more pinkish, but it works, people get the idea. If you don't have a rag either buy one and spray paint it red, or I'm sure Gary will have some available for use at the field if you go. If your getting an old oil rag, I would advise soaking it, or washing it, it won't get all the grease out, but it's better than putting a oil-soaked rag right on your head, unless that's your thing!!!!!

A kill rag can be anything of RED orange or yellow color. A hankercheif, a shop towel, a "rag", a skull cap that you put on when you get shot, any thing that is blantantly off color, to show that you have been hit.

Well apparently i can adjust somthing called the "Hammer spring" to adjust my FPS, and i am currently working on finding information on how to do that.

It also is supposed to average at 520FPS so i think things should be OK.

I know the rules well for 'sniper' rifles and intend to read them atleast two more times. i also am going to set up a sort of shooting range in my backyard, with targets at 75, 100 and 150 feet. (the 75 foot targets to make sure i don't shoot within 100 feet, the'll have "DON'T SHOOT" on them or somthing.)

these targets will have a backing behind them, for those conserned about the neighborhood, i will also have siding peices.

i'm gonna do my best to be super safe and verry familiar with all safty rules and precausions with this thing...I wouldn't want any one getting hurt.

and worst comes to worst, i still have my G18c ;)

It is the KJW M700, i'm running it off green gas.

its not the 'ultimate sniper rifle' but its a decent marksmanship/ioutrangeyou weapon.

You may outrange some, but I know a few people that you definately DO NOT outrange, lol... And those peo.... well I'll keep that to myself.

I've owned both the takedown version and the police model, and both have just over the range that my M4 had. They do not fire all to accurately though considering the drop in fps with each follow up shot.

Additionally, the M700 is made by two different companies. The M700 made by KJ is not entirely similar as the one made by Tanaka. This may mean that you cannnot turn down the FPS on the KJ rifle as easily as what you can on a Tanaka, if at all. I never figured out, nor did I care to, on my M700s made by KJ.

Keep in mind if we do crono for this game, and you shoot over 550 even once, your gun will be disqualified and you will not be allowed to use it. So make darn sure you are under 550 before you come to crono. Also keep in mind that we can call for a crono at anytime we see fit. In the end Gary has the final word but we have a good crew who will keep an eye on things....

for a game of this potential magnitude, a chrono is almost a must... IMO.

A-Ron
11 Jul 06, 05:47 PM
I always bring mine to games, but I just never use it because we havn't chronoed guns in a while.

Mine requires you to attach the unit directly to the gun via the flash hider threds, so it takes a lil' longer, but an extra chrono is better than just one.

hey since you bring a chrono all the time could i chrono my gun at the game?

A-Ron
12 Jul 06, 06:32 AM
I'd like to add this if I may, I know its probably been said already.

This game looks as if to be a NON-STOP game. Meaning you will have to carry all of your gear and anything else onto the field with you. There will be no going back up to the 'safe-zone' unless something bad happenes.
With that being said the number one necessity that you'll be needing out on the field is a way to keep hydrated. Last year at the first Fallen Angel, I was Kennedy's bitch. I followed him around and barely did anything but talk on the radio. (Dont' get me wrong, it introduced me to some cool people to play alongside.) I went through my entire 2 liters of water that was in my camel back and still had a headache on the ride home (that could be in part to the fact that my car got heated up to 110 degrees as well).

Needless to say, PLEASE people, bring water. There is no point in having to end up hurt, or in a hospital because you can't bring water with you. It comes from your kitchen sink, or from the store in bottles. There is NO reason why you shouldn't have it, it CAN save your life in an instance like this.
Next to that make sure that you bring some kind of "energy replenishing" food. Candy bars and chips do not cut it quite as well as what something like granola bars do (not the Quaker Chewy bars either).

Last year I don't remember a break for lunch where we went back up to the safe zone, but just a "pause" on the field, I ended up eating my lunch about five minutes before this happened. This might happen again this year, but dont' count on it.

Flame me all you want, or take it as constructive food for your head like you should. I know there will be at least one dumbass who comes without water. Thinking that they are like a camel, and store water in their body from the previous day, they will be the first to drop.

Mr. Crow
12 Jul 06, 07:39 AM
As far as chronoing your guns go. We have too many people with too many guns and not enough time to do everyone and every gun. So, we will do this.

1. If you have a Sniper style gun.
2. If you have a newly upgraded gun
3. If you just want to be sure.

You will chrono your gun.

Unless you are on the Cuban SF or Omega 2, please don't waste your time with a sniper rifle. There will b little or no use for one in that enviornment.

Sorry to be somewhat off-topic, but I don't think safety is really off topic...

It is also greatly stressed by nutritionists and safety personelle that you drink juices/drinks that have electrolytes and other essential elements that the body needs other than just water. drinking only water will only protect you so far in extreme heat, drinking things such as gatorade or powerade can help further. And a healthy breakfast is a key determination to how you will react to the heat as well, so please have a healthy breakfast (not McD's crap-heart-attack breakfast :P ).

And by the way, if you get dizzy while on the field, tell someone and get to shade/water fast! I also suggest having a buddy on the field, so you are never alone... the most dangerous thing in heat is passing out from heat exhaustion alone...

Good luck guys and have fun! (Of course, be safe :P ).

On a side note, drinking a larger amount of water up to 24-hours before a big event has prooven to help while extreme activity in the heat ;) (it of course doesn't stop it completely.)

With 6 hours of gameplay, how should we carry all the water ( or beverage of choice) & snacks. Would you suggest packing it (backpacks & pouches) or should we plan on defending a small resupply area for our group? I know there is no out-of-play area so I was currious about how you guys are planning on keeping your liters of gatoraid and bags of chips accessable. It will be water and a few power bars for me so i'm planning on packing it.

I would reccomend carrying, at least 2 liters of water and a small snack, on your person. As for bases, can't say because Crow hasn't defined them yet, but if you need to leave water on the field, nobody should touch it without your permission. Even if you have to call yourself out to resupply with water, better that than dehydration.
This past weekend I drank somewhere around 3 gallons of water in the 9 hours that I was getting ready, on the field and stripping down to go home. It's supposed to be a bit cooler this weekend, but 80-85 degrees is still damned hot airsoft weather.

Its better lose some playing time and get water then passing out in the field.

Yea, I sucked down nearly two 3 litre hydrastorm bladders and the heat didn't even bother me. You should be drinking something like one litre per hour in order to be completely hydrated.

BTW, Litre is British for liter :D

Sweinster
16 Jul 06, 08:01 PM
Yes, you should frequently drink water the DAY BEFORE and the day of/during the game to avoid dehydration, heat stroke, etc. Rule of thumb is about 1 liter (litre) of water for every hour of play should be consumed, and at Gary's field everyone is pretty respectful, no one really "steals" water or food. They don't take what's not theirs. But yeah, me Ameoba Grande, and T Square for OP: Mechanica just took like a cooler full of 24 bottles of 20 fl. oz. of water, and got like 9" subs and some Pringles, and of course some Gardetto's for Vigilante!!!

P.S. even in a cooler, things can get spoiled real quick, so don't get mayonaise or anything in a sandwich/sub. Also take plenty of water, I personally downed like 3 bottles an hour at Mechanica!!!!! Also, avoid foods with salt. Soda and energy drinks DO NOT REPLACE WATER, they will only make you more thirsty.

Take 45 north into Kewaskum. Go into town and take a right at the lights that is right downtown (I think it's Hwy. S)
Head East a few blocks and turn left onto Hwy S
Take S to Hwy G (s runs into G, no turn needed) and follow G to Hwy. SS
Take SS to the field. If you are interested, you are more than welcome to follow me there. Drop me a PM and we can form a convoy of Stallis folks.

Ok guys... After action response to Crows AWESOME game.

My only complaint, I wish the rain would have NOT come as I was driving home. Made for a VERY COLD ride for five minutes.

It was fun to be on the side that did very little shooting. I think the only true enguagement that I saw was our C:SF friends decided to shoot at us after we apparently did something they didn't like. I used up half a hicap shooting at a balloon. Just goes to show you, you can have TONS of fun at a game, but not do any great ammount of shooting. I was prepared though, I had two unopened bags of bbs in my backpack, half of an open bag, and a bottle of 2000 rds ready to reload my three hicaps (I pack light sometimes, lol).

Crow, awesome game, just next time we'd like to not run from one end of the field to the other, kind of hard walking though that back ****. I took a swim a few times, didn't mind because it helped cool down A LOT.

Gary, once again, thank you for the use of the field. No game like that could happen without your help. And thanks for trying to get pistols out for Op: BD ;)

Everyone else, hope to see you at Op: Black Dawn.

After effects of it pouring rain and me freezing my ass off. Five of us muscled it up there with no help from any kind of ramp. I thank them greatly. They could have possibly, and most likely saved my life. To them I owe grattitude.

Great Game Mr Crow thanks for putting it on again this year.
We had a total of 65 players, and 14 of those were new to the game or to the field, hope you enjoyed it.
I wanted to thank everyone who helped clean up at the end of the day.
Thanks Aron for the pic's.
Maybe sometime this year we will see the motion picture that Crow was working on.
Thanks to everone who showed and hope everyone had a great time.

Awesome game! I felt really bad because myself and the other guy I came with intended to be at least half an hour late and we hit some nasty detour stuff that was taking us completely in the opposite direction. We ended up showing up late and had to listen to the briefing from the road while loading up our gear. Thanks Gary for the use of the field, and thanks Crow for hosting a fun event. I was thoroughly confused for the beginning of the game but when the teams were frozen it was a lot more fun. It was interesting to take turns eating lunch while pulling security from a sandbagged foxhole! :)

I wanted to apologize to Maple for the face shot I landed on him... I felt really bad about it. I wasn't aiming for his head, I just shot at the blob of color that was shooting back at me :( Sorry about that!

Oh, and there is a stash of gold bars hidden under a brush pile slightly southwest of the Military base. It's just off the trail about 5 feet and covered with leaves... we wanted to hide it so other teams couldn't steal it from us.

Great game everyone!

Next time, relocate the missile to someplace that we can blow up, and not harm your precious jewels ;)

If I knew you were going to blow the missle I would have moved it to B or over to E... Oh well Dover revenged my death from tower D for me.

Great Game Guys!
Thanks to Crow for a great setup and Gary for a great field.

As far as a first game goes you guys couldn't have been more accomodating. Vigilante, thanks for giving me the low down before the game. Sorry you had to be exicuted.
Downslide, thanks for letting me tag along and being the CO of SF.

Again, great game!

Yeah, thanks Vigilate for getting me, Tom (T-Square), and Tom (Ameoba-Grande) pretty much screwed over, but IT DID but a fun effect on the game for us. I should have learned from OP: Mechanica about following you!!!! As T-Square said, every time we followed you, we found tango's!!! but it was very fun. Well anyway I had a great time on the Cuban: SF side with DownSlide, Wolfram and the other guys too!!!

Wow, hostility, or at least comming off as hostility.... Lets all remember, its just a game.

Had this been a real life exercsie, you'd all be dead, remember that one, no respawns.

I just wanted thank Mr. Crow for the game. I had a blast. Out of all the games I played this year...this one impressed me the most. Thanks once again...I'm looking forward to your next game. Can't wait to see the video.

For the boys in black... it was a pleasure to work with you and then against you:]. That Mexican stand off right before you blew up the hotel... that was the bomb ;) . It was a pleasure fighting the players on that team. I'd love to have another chance fight you guys.

Thanks to Gary for the field and the prizes. Since coming to this state I’ve enjoyed playing on your field. Looking forward to future with TR.

To that guy (sorry I didn't catch your name) that pulled that recon / steal the gold mission with me... It was truly an honor to work with you. I haven't played with anyone on that level or caliber since I left Hawaii. Thanks ;)

And last but not least.... my thanks goes to A-ron. Every time your out on the field, your taken pictures of everyone and everything. Most guys would just take pics of themselves or their teams. Instead you take pics for the community as a whole. Thanks for the memories bro.
