Kennedy, where exactly are the two flags located? I saw the map in the link in the first post but couldn't figure it out, i'm pretty sure the red base is the same as the Somali respawn at BHD, but I can't for the life of me figure out the other one.

06 Jan 06, 10:15 AM
To go off of what Gruzniak said, I understand what one team's base is, but the other in the open field? I assume its not the oplympic hotel, but rather the bunker closest to the treeline by tower one and about 87 feet from the safe zone? B I think?

The flag bases are not going to be fully revealed until the day of the game. The picture is more for referance more than anything.

One question, can the person that is carrying the flag stop, jam the flag into the ground and shoot people??¿¿ if so ill be there if not well then FT.

Vanac
10 Jan 06, 09:21 AM
That is stupid. If you get the flag, there is a 99.9% chance that you will have bodyguards with you making sure you don't get shot and get back to the base safe. Why would you be able to drop the flag, and then use your gun? I don't know the rules, but that would be DUMB.

On another note, the game is in Feb. The ground won't exactly be soft to be able to "jam the flag".

Kennedy
10 Jan 06, 09:57 AM
you can pass the flag to another player, and you can fire your weapon while carrying the flag, but i wouldn't suggest you simply stop dead in your tracks and go looking for a fight while you have in your possestion the one item that is drawing the entire enemy team down upon you with furry equivelent to vultures to a fresh carcass.

So to put it into some plain english, you must do these two things. use some common sense and be a team player

Hey Gruzniak I'm game for that. I just recently started a clan for WI airsofters hoping to spread some good publicity for our wonderful sport. If you ever wanna play my screenname is the same as this account so feel free to send me a Friend request if you want to play or whatever.

This is actually an invite for whoever has Xbox Live and wants to play, I got other games (my second favorite after the Origianal Halo has got to be Counterstrike, feel free to flame me as a "John Woo Matrix" teenage wannabe but it is a really good game and I can't always play Airsoft so it makes for a good release of all the stealtheness and shooting I can always just go do).

Oh and for all you people out there that have never seen RvB go watch some NOW, it is true creative genious and I love it. Episode 39's my favorite.

i am just wondering because this is a capture the flag game... is this kind of like a big paintsoft game?
personally, i'm thinking milsim with a bit of paintsoft... i mean, we have to have some sort of strategy to get teh flags and everything, and then once we have it, until we get the flag, its milsim, after we have it in our hands, then its just "run like hell" and shoot em up, thats the paintsoft part, lol

How will regens (if any) be done?

Once you have been hit that third time, you will go up to the entrance of the safe zone were a box will be waiting for you to discard your bandages and you wil sign the deathlist with the colored pen of your team. then you return to your team's base and start the war anew from there, NOTE: you are still dead until you've completed all steps above

Quick question, if this game is held at Wargame Room in Adell, will there be one of the mini AEC's pre-game for underaged players that haven't made it to an AEC yet? I know gary is doing that for the game on 1/29/06.

Maple
26 Jan 06, 04:17 PM
Ker- I believe that gary will be running his safety briefing before the game. Not sure how long it'll be, 30 minutes comes to mind, or what time it'll be at. shoot Gary a PM and I'm sure he'll fill you in.

Anyone under 18 who has not had the AEC will need to take my saftey course, this will take about 25 minutes, so make sure you show up early and let me know that you need this course.

the mini safety course that gary holds does not take the place of an AEC, it allows those who are new, or have not had a chance to take the AEC yet, to still play. (If I remember how gary explained it correctly :) )

No it doesnt, with garys 20 minute thing, you wont be able to play at Dragons Lair, still, and if gary ever decides to make the AEC a neccessity to play, you'll need it anyways, not to mention it's just a nice thing to take, and have access to.

So you guys probably know that I'm still really new to the forums. So I'm just wondering how much of this event is team related? It seems like all of the people attending this event is already in an established team. It would be great if I could simply just show up with another friend and be able to play. Considering I've never played in a major event, we would deffinatly be there early enough for the safety course before hand.

Vigilante
02 Feb 06, 09:51 AM
Well everything is team oriented in a sense, because the teams work together to utilize their skills and enhance them, if you are not on a team, no big deal, you can form your own, or join one of the many great teams out there. As far as this event being team related, you should ask Kennedy if that was his intention. Just show up and have a good time, that is what airsoft is all about!

Kennedy
02 Feb 06, 10:18 AM

Ameoba Grande
02 Feb 06, 04:26 PM
do you guys think that we might be using that arm band idea?

RTO
02 Feb 06, 04:36 PM
i like the way you put it.. "that arm band idea?" lol.. thats great.. i dunno, i'd like to, personally, see how it would be w/o them because it gives that added challenge

in most games (kennedy i know your getting this partly from halo), unless you have it turned on what team you are on and for the crosshair to change colors or say so that they are not on your team, its really your call to shoot. and granted, most games have that differeance of "team appearances" so you can tell, but we'll have that out there on sunday, so.. IMO, keep it w/o the armbands, make it a lil bit more complicated

but its up to Sir Kennedy and Gary in the end really

Beasthunter33
02 Feb 06, 04:39 PM
What I would really like to see is a system of Identification like the "crickets" used during WWII. Me and a couple of my friend have them and I think they work out pretty good.

RTO
02 Feb 06, 04:40 PM
kind of like the call and response type of things, where you challange with a certain tone/patter or number/word and they respond with the "response" to it?

we've tried that at numerous games, and that little thing of them figuring out what the response to it is was always a aspect that you'd get pissed off at but it was fun because it became that much harder to protect your objectives. but its a royal pain in the ass when they compromise the code

Not to be off topic, as if this thread already is. Blizzard pretty much copied Games Workshop hands down. I think you know this Kennedy. Zerg=Tyranids, Terran=Space marines, Protoss=Eldar. Even though things are changed and the game is great, I used to play it non stop, but I have a life now, they still copied Games Workshop pretty much creature to creature.

Just out of curiosity, how will we be able to distinguish between teams?

But if we are doing Red VS blue, I think we should have something red or blue on our person. Afterall, in RVB their whole uniform reflected their team(except for some special characters) and that is what this is about, right?

http://thewargameroom.com/forum/index.php
A sign up sheet will be provided at the field the day of the game, players may sign up for the team they wish to play on.

This will be my first OP here in Wisconsin, what exactly is a Kill rag?

Nevermind found the answer on Wargame forums. Thanks anyway!

The Kill Rag is a red colored rag, like a shop rag. If you dont have one I sell them at the field for 1.00.
Since Kennedy is putting on the game he has the final say on the arm bands, I will try to get ahold of him and see if he has any answers.

unless some one wants to buy a few boxes of red and blue hats or shirts and distibute them at the game there's not going to be any uniform set up to things. Anything vocal or handsignals type thing is up to the force captains.

Note: the same thing goes for red and blue arm bands as well, you want to bring em. i'll appreciate it greatly. but i won't be able to accomplish this myself

I'll be willing to throw in a couple bucks for red and blue duct tape for armbands if you'd like..... Or I could even pick up a couple rolls of each here in Madison tommarow, I think it's like 2.5 or 3 bucks for a roll, not sure how much is on it either.

Snow is a poor excuse to NOT go to a game. That is why you have 4 wheel drive. Or, instead of wearing armbands and all that, how about try to remember who is on your team? I think thats a great idea!

That is true, we used them at ww3, but sometimes the camo bunches up too much, and the camo covers up the armbands, and sometimes, I beleive it was Maus who said he could only tell if it was an enemy because he saw the armbands, I know it was one of us Wisconsinites that said it though.

In army training during WWII they used armbands to distinguish teams :P If both teams had different camo, we wouldn't need them... but that isn't the case. :D

I will bring some red and blue plastic tape with me (kind of like marking tape). We used it at Operation Thunder 1 in Illinois and it worked out great. A small squad (2 inch by 2 inch) of red or blue on each persons shoulder would work perfectly too. I may be able to aquire some colored duct tape for the event.

And don't worry, the flags and the medic armbands will be there on time this year (unless we get lost, we get in an accident, car breaks down, etc)

Guys, its 15-20 degree weather, it's not like we've never played in this (and colder!) before, i know there is a windchill but wgf is pretty much completely fenced in by trees, and has many, many structures for cover, so it's not like we'll even get the full extent of the wind.

Who the hell told you -35 wind chill? Weather.com has been changing it all week, and it's now up to a high of 22 for tomorrow, hell I wouldn't be suprised if it hits 25+, they're also saying it will be about 0-10 degrees with windchill (if you're standing on a flat parking lot, not in a field surrounded by woods on all sides, or even being in the woods themselves).

Ok my last post was borderline, but all i'm saying is that with weather.com, all the stations, channels, and basically any and every other source of media is projecting it to climb almost 30 degrees from todays -8 (+ wind chill), to around 20-25 (+ a lesser windchill) (this is adell i'm talking about), it's pretty crazy to expect more -10 weather with -30 windchills when the pros are obviously pointing far away from that direction.

and the logic goes that the weather man is 30% accurate, where as the ground hog is 28% accurate... i'd put my money on the damn groundhog at this point in time, cuz he kind of hit this one dead on

hooah! i agree.. we live in wisconsin, we shoudl be used to this weather (except for those who have moved from warm places like georgia and florida and california). i have been outside in yellow shorts and a t shirt on cold winter days (ask Black_Kade, i went over to his house and he thought i was nuts for dressing like it, so the story is true). its really not all that bad if you just prepare for it. and that is what we all should do, is just prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

If you are cold, just jog around the field a bit.

RTO
18 Feb 06, 09:34 AM
honestly, it seems like this game is going to be a lot of non stop action consinder the nature (capture the flag) so you should be constantly moving anyway.

pack some hand warmers and some warm clothing agaisnt your body, and you'll be fine. I personally will be wrapping my feet in plastic bags in case i fall through again!

oh, and if your worried about your hands getting cold... get some latex gloves and put them on underneith your gloves you'll be wearing and they will keep your hands a lot warmer

also bring along high carb, or proteen bars or something of the sort.. or even just eat alot tonight or before the game... Running in the snow or even working hard in the snow is more tiresome even more than normal warm weather.. your gonna need that extra nutrition to keep going and to keep your body heat up to optimal an temp and do please stay dry (*cough RTO Cough*)

ALso, im not sure if anyone else figured out a way to keep your battery warm, but what you can do is take those one of those toe warmers and stick them onto the battery, but the critical part is to keep that warmth around the battery.. Just take like a sock or something and place the battery inside there along with the warmer. Hand/toe warmers need a confined place, where cool air can not circulate so just keeping the battery inside a like say, the forgrip on a m16/m4 variant just doesn't always keep the warmth of the hand/toe warmer with the holes that are in the forgrip unless theres something keeping that warm air around the battery and the warmer..

What i did was i purchased a mag pouch that wraps onto the butt-stock on my M733 (its a full m16 stock) and i place my battery with the stuck-on toe warmer, which is in the wool sock (a clean sock) inside the mag pouch... Or what you can do if you have long enough wires is keep the battery as close to your body as possible (while being safe with the risk of the battery leaking or which ever..)

The weather wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, although pretty rough at some points, i'm sure like myself most of you are wiped out after running around in single digit weather, and 10 inches of snow for 6 hours, still a good game, though.
