So I know that in theory a longer barrel should make for a more accurate gun, but does that hold absolutely true in airsoft. I mean, if you put a PSG-1+ barrel in a M4 will it be as accurate as the any other gun with that barrel? And is there a cutoff where the barrel length no longer makes a difference in accuracy? Just wondering because I have a SG-1 tightbore in my Sig552, and if I get more guns in the future I might consider a different barrel, or no barrel change at all. Thanks for any input.

Well, I put the psg 1 tightbore in my AK, yes you can laugh, but **** u, and frankly, the accuracy is phenominal. I hit a 3 inch branch, full auto, mind you 30/second, and 28 of them hit the branch, at a couple hundred feet away.

Basically, the longer the barrel, the more "effective" range you have, and better grouping provided its a tightbore. Cylinders play a role also, but thats getting into the whole gearbox performance issues.
If your good you can create hell with a decent springer, but if you wanna be effective, youll want a rifle that has at least decent range and accuracy.
Yes Vig's AK, when i tested it, the bb's actually hit each other here and there at a 40ft range.

Barrel length doesn't mean everything, ex.
1.) Kade has a Head 1950 Precision barrel in his PDW (stock length) and it shoots just as accurate as my mp5 did w/ a precision barrel
2.) My Sig 552 has a systema 6.04 in it, (stock length) and it shoots probably, the most accurate out of all aegs ive fired
its not really the length of the barrel where-as, the maker (quality of metal and how its machined) and how tight it is... (6.04-6.03)
*Few things I've noticed/heard about
~Systema makes awesome precision barrels and they are ranked high for upgrades parts
~Prometheous barrel are known to jam and even reck a gun because when a bb gets jammed, it creates such a seal that it breaks parts in the mechbox (good barrels, but need to be speck free).
not here to argue, not here to say, no thats not right, this is, ect... Just what ive heard/seen delt w/ and plz dont turn this into a bitch fest.
edit: yes, like stated, the longer barrel does seem to provide better groupings at further ranges.

also, from techs ive spoken with, it is said that the 6.03's can have a negative effect on hopup, not providing enough room for it. i havent used prometheus', but ill just stay away and stick with the Systema brass's
honestly, i've played around w/ systema and KM TN barrels, and my preferance is the KM TN barrel over the systema, but the systema is a more cost effective barrel in my opinion and thats why i ended up buying one of those rather than the TN barrel.
in my opinion, the range that you will off of a precision barrel is almost the same as a stock, but accuracy is greater in my opinion.
the bit on the .03 barrels is kind of siding with timmays point that he stated from looking at Black_Kades problems that he has had before, but it might work for a different gun flawlessly, who knows? I'd stray away from them though
its also a horse a peice.. i've had more accurate shots w/ my stock m15a4 rifle that i used to have from CA than I've had with my m4 that i have now.. but that might be a hopup issue, i don't know yet
You also have to take ammunition type into consideration. Some BBs don't work as well with a tightbore because they are not always a consistent uniform diameter. Some manufactures have a higher defect ratio. Others simply may not work with your particular combintation of upgrades. This is really why you have to experiment with BB makes and weights to find the best BB for your gun.

Exactly. Same as upgrades. You go sao far and then after a while, it gets pointless and less accurate. There is a sweet spot for barrell length and upgrades for FPS. Finding it for your model gun is the key.
