Honestly, if I get enough support for this in a couple days, we should all meet somewhere to go down, i am definately game for this, btw, this is only like 50 miles away from chicago, so like 120 miles for me, but you people up north der, thats like about 200 some miles or so. You can always park at my house and i can drive like 1 or 2 people, as long as people chip in for gas.

Yea, I never saw the movie, but this looks awesome, if we go, or if it is just me and someone else, I will bring a video camera so we can video it, or take pics or something, it just looks really sweet.

I've seen the movie and I really want to go. It all depends on the money situation though.

Well, basically, if one other person has the finances for it, I am game. I need a tent though, cuz its overnight and stuff, I have no idea how to set one up, unless I take my dads RV?

Vigilante
22 Nov 05, 09:44 AM
Yea, its for a good cause, i would be willing to go, but now my mp5 is broke, damn, I might as well get everything replaced on that, but yea its for charity, a good cause, DO IT FOR THE CHILDREN, SERIOUSLY!

Guys, this sounds really good. If not for the cause but also to expand WI and IL player relations. Unfortunately, I will be out of town and working so I won't be able to make it. Trying to get off to play on a Friday is not possible. I wonder if someone can go for only a part of the event?

I know it is late and all, but I didnt find out about it until yesterday, I know how to get down there too, I was looking at a amp, its southwest of chicago a few miles. I will be willing to take one person with me, due to limited space and all, and as long as they chip in for gas, So far, I think we have good support for this, I think it can really happen.

Friday (9th): Is a kinda get together night that is not planned for game play but who knows. But this is a more social thing, and not a game day.
Saturday is a full day of play and night game.
Sunday is going to run to 3pm or so. And it might be a late morning start with people camping out and having to get going in the cold.
Anyway, Azrael (the organizer) has an account here as well as the CAA forums so you can PM him here if you want or go on their forums and PM him from there.
There is one rule that they use that we dont: Airsoft Chicago requires all event participants to wear FULL SEAL ballistic eye protection that meets or exceeds ANSI Z87.1 standards or above. Since we require the same ANSI protection, but dont require full seal... Just a bit different.
FPS rules and minimum engagement distances are the same. 400 for full auto/10 foot min and 550 for snipers/100 foot min.

Hmm, it does seem quite late, and with some more unexpected expenses, I don't know 100% if I can go yet, I will have to borrow some money from my grandmother if I do decide to go, because tax season is alot closer than what I thought it was..

Bro, you're supposed to be 13 to even be posting on any website on the internet, no joke.
edit: actually not just "supposed" it's a federal law.

Since when does anyone obey the law? Especially stupid laws like that.
Like, in Florida, I beleive it is illegal to carry an ice cream cone in your pocket, or in Vermont where it is illegal to sing under water, some stupid stuff like that, I thought there was one stupid laws from Minnesota that it is illegal to eat hamburgers on Sunday? Something along those lines.

I believe it is illegal to sneeze on the streets of New York... but that is so you dont spook the horses on the street.
12 years of age is fine, with parent/ guardian's consent and presence.

I don't like the idea of playing airsoft with 10-12 year olds. I realize these are the field's rules and not your own, and even so the field has every right to make such rules. Still, not going.
Azrael
29 Nov 05, 02:01 AM
i stnad corrected. The minimum age for airsoft events at RoR is 13 not 10. And anyone under 18 must have parent/guardian's signature so that their folks know where they are.
Sorry for the confusion. Normally I have about four or five guys under 18 show up, and they are a good bunch of kids.

We are the ones that can get in trouble in for letting him post so sadly we can not allow it. If you don't like it talk to the lawmakers. The law was passed to "protect the children" from pedophiles and their ilk that could prey on them on the internet. I guess once kids hit 13 they are considered teenagers putting them in the realm of ephebophiles and not of the governments concern.

Thirteen is still a little young in my mind.
Vigilante
04 Dec 05, 04:32 PM
Then again, these kids know how to do everything on the computer and stuff, so I don't see why not.
Azrael
05 Dec 05, 03:07 AM
and also bear in mind that you have not ever played airsoft with the kids that will be attending. I have never had any negative incidents involving the younger kids.
The one incident i did have was that one of them had a mask that kept fogging. He was by himself and had no one to take him back to respawn. He pulled his mask forward to wipe the fog out so he could get back to respawn. One of the staff came across him as he did this, and we got him back to respawn without incident. I talked to him and brought up the importance of making sure you wear your mask at all times, and the importance of a radio. ;)
You would be surprised. Most of these kids feel fortunate that they are allowed to play despite there age, and are more likely to follow the rules. They are all worried that something will happen and the age limit will be raised.
I played airsoft against/with some youngsters at the Toys for Tots Game in St Louis a couple weeks back. They were more of team players that most of the older guys... The worked as a team, and are were happy to be part of one.
Most older guys dont take very well to direction/ orders at airsoft events. Everyone wants to be the lone maverick who kills the whole other team. Well, when you have 10 or more lone mavericks, your team doesnt work well to complete objectives.
MY advice to you is that if you still dont want to play airsoft with youngsters then dont. But at least give these kids a chance before you say they are too young to play.
With the way these kids play now, imagine who well they will play in 5 more years. Educate them early to that they dont become a screw-head and do something with an airsoft gun, like threaten people in public, and give airsoft a bad name.
everyone wants more positive exposure for airsoft, right? This is where I think we should start. Give the kids a place to play and keep them off the public streets.
Just my humble opinion.

Really? All my experiences have been the exact opposite. The rookies are typically the ones with the illusions of being the Rambo of airsoft while the experienced players know you have to work as a unit.

yeah, its true... I will say at some of the away games I have gone to, like OSC by Airsoftplayers.com and ACO's events... lots of the people go loner...
But myself, I rather work as a team his guys I know... I always seem to have more fun...
But at Airsoft Chicago events, the younger guys wanna work as a team usually with older players. Of course, youll always have some young punk who convinces his friends that they should do their own thing... but they still wanna work as a team.
