For awhile now I only run around with my aug and then stick mags in my pockets. I find this easier to run around with etc rather than using my normal tac vest During the last game I was able to try out my new drop leg pistol holster and it didn't get in the way at all.

So I started looking into drop leg magazine holders for my aug mags. I ran across thisTag Drop leg pouch (http://lightfighter.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=TAG-022!001&csurl=/istar.asp?a%3D3%26dept%3DSUBLOA%26manufacturer%3D0 01%26sortby%3D%26numperpage%3D28) that interested me.Will it hold 6 aug mags (not like I need that many but the option would be nice) or even a few g36c's?

I also found this one (http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/images/tf_m16_drop_od_jpg.jpg) from airsoft alatana that is the same brand as my pistol holter and carries 3 mags for most guns.

Has anyone had experince with either of these or something like it?

Yes, I used one like that at maples game, but it was a triple mag pouch thing like that, I like it, but it felt like it restricted my leg movement a bit too much, possibly because I don't know how to adjust it at all. That is why I bought a tac vest that can fit many more mags. I like them though, if I could figure out how to adjust it a bit easier, or do it before hand.

All in all though, if you want to carry all that out there on ur leg, go for it, I like them so so, but they restricted my movement a bit too much to my liking.

I was about to say, wouldn't it be easier to just get a bigger tac vest, or some web gear or something?

I cant stand vests personally (too much sh*t hanging on chest restricts my arm movement). I have a right leg pistol holster (kind of annoying seeing as how i'm a lefty lol) and a dropleg triple M16 mag pouch though each pocket is big enough to hold two. Then I just got a web belt and Y-suspenders nd I love it. Doesn't restrict me at all (though i'm a lazy SOB and hate to run lol).

If you would educate yourself, you would see that it is TAG, a high grade brand used by actual operators. The $25 rigs you buy also have shoddy stitching and offer you no warranty if and when it becomes damaged. TAG, on the other hand, offers a lifetime warranty on all of their gear.

When you go cheap on gear, you risk losing your gear. My last Gear rig set me back $280 for a STRIKE Commando Harness and various pockets to carry 12 MP5 mags, 5 TM Mag loaders, my radio, a hip flask of BBs, my sig 226, my ASP collapsible baton, and Gerber Multiplier. I also had tons of room to spare and a rig that was fully customizable depending on the mission.

You spend $25-$40 on each mag and then trust that to a no name tactical rig. Yeah.

The second one you linked to is Tac Force. Tac Force is a commercial copy of BHI gear. G36 mags will fit in it as seen in the below picture:

http://www.airsoftohio.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10096/g36a.jpg

However, some mags can be a tight fit, such as G3 and Aug mags. The second problem is the actual leg straps. They do not offer hardly any retention. WHile they are rubberized for gripping, they are no elasticized as many other designs are. This causes them to slip down and cna make them uncomfortable to wear.

If you want a good drop leg righ, you need to look at SOE, BHI, or even the above TAG rig. Either that, or purchase a set of elasticized leg straps.

I liked my Tac Force Drop Leg rig, but prefer the BHI Omega Series. It offers more customization that will help secure your mags. The Tac FOrce is far more "Plain Jane."

On a side note, Hey Texx - why do you have a sight on top of a sight on your G36K?

Oh I know what you mean and I completely agree with you, you do get what you pay for, but the Pouch I got IS pretty nice (I am sure their are much better ones but on my budget and for my needs it works just fine). I also use the new MAG brand M16 magazines so if I lose a magazine its only $7.50 not $20 and I don't feel horrible if I can't find one I dropped on the field later. But yeah always get the best you can afford. You'll be happier later on.

On a side note, Hey Texx - why do you have a sight on top of a sight on your G36K?

Because the G&P G36 Optics are crap. They have horrible eye relief that is not adjustable. The only way to use the carry handle optics is with the stock folded. Windage and elevation are pretty much useless as well. My G36K had upgrades and the mount that was installed obscured the "iron sights" so that left only a red dot.

My Red Dot is a 1x25 Bushnell Trophy, which has 4 reticules. It's basically a clone of the Tasco Propoint PDP, but at about $60 cheaper and with a much better warranty.

Thanks for the insight Texx, it took about 30 mins to get my leg holster to where it felt sturdy enough. But with the vert-belt part hooking onto my normal belt it never slipped down at all. Do you have a link of where I can look at those brands of gear? All I can seem to find when I look around are airsoft versions like UTG etc.

And... is that a g36 short mag? How did you do that if you don'd mind me asking? I've been trying to find an aug version for awhile.

Doc, one of my favorite place for gear is blackhawk (http://www.blackhawkindustries.com/)
The gear is expensive, but you get a warranty and it is built rock solid.

Ok thanks, cool site. I wish they had some better pictures of the gear though.

I haven't been disappointed with anything I've bought from them yet. Seeing as my Blackhawk Molle vest is worth $350+ (and still growing) and I have yet to have any problems whatsoever (and I am pretty tough on my gear), I think that unto itself can attest for BHI gear being worth the money.

Try this link:

www.optactical.com

One of many suppliers out there but they have a good cross section of manufacturers and you can see what different items look like and the prices.
