RTO, if you are serious, I just may take you up on this. I would seriously love to go to this. I am not kidding at all, when even I just saw that, and then Spetznaz... OOH yes. Plus, all that stuff, I think it would be a blast, I would be in, if you would be willing to go too. I could hook up my parents trailer to haul stuff in, and it would be a helluva drive. but, I would be willing to go, seriously, no joke, I hope you werent kidding, cuz I am shaking I want to go soo bad.

Holy ****!!! All those beautiful glorius buildings, Those long windy streets. The wonderful open fields. 375 acres of airsoft heaven. No offense Gary (I have yet to get to a game but am looking forward to it :D) but that is what we need around here. I only wonder if it might be too big....nah. But yeah I would definatly be willing to that. I would be willing to chip in gas money or food or something (unfortunatly I don't have a car). Maybe somebody up north who has alot of land could do something like this. I am very interested. :)

Well, see in order to build something of that magnitude would require lots of money, which most of us arent millionaires, excluding me, in the very near future, we shall see. But yea, alot of times they rent out places, and pool amounts of money together, and that is one huge game for the year.

I know, but still, if we can get enough people that would liek to go, we could all carpool or something, cuz frankly, I dont want to drive that far, and alone. I am scared of the dark.

YES we should rent out a bus and go there, that would be so much fun, not to mention if we could get alot of people to go the bus rental will be hella cheap.
Not necessarily. CROSS COUNTRY trips arn't ecaxtly cheap on a salary, that of which most of us do not have. I just threw the idea out there to spark some curousity and see what people thought. So far theres a lot of support for it but honestly who would do this? Its going to cost you at least 300 to get out there (including entry fee), and then all the supplies you'll need, and what not.

Yes, but for such a kick ass time, why not? Unless there is a big game like that a few hundred miles closer lol.

if we could get a bus i would b so game. but if you want somethign like this in Wis. all you would have to do is just find a huge farm w\ the owner willing to rent it out. just ideas but this would rule if it would b possible to do

No, finding a farmer w/ a huge field and a barn on it and having him rent it out would not work because there is a little think called liability.
Beasthunter33
20 Nov 05, 04:37 PM
so how hard is that? just have everybody that plays sign a waiver withholding the owner from any and all injuries/damages sustained while playing on their property. just my 2 cents.

20 Nov 05, 04:38 PM
some of our guys are registered to play it already hehe

Its not that easy, thers a lot more than just that, that has to go into a "liability waiver."

Ok, It's time I step in and say what I have to say here. I would love to go and I have a perfect way to get down there. I work for a Car Rental place and I could get passenger vans for us at a very cheap rate. I think that would be better than a bus and cheaper than flying. So what do you think RTO.

I guess I'll pipe in.
Personally, out of state games can be great. New land, new people, etc.
For those of you who don't know where Oregon is, look at a map. Personally, I am not too keen on driving 2000 miles. It would take several days to make the drive. As most of us have jobs, taking a week off of work to attend a skirm would be difficult. Sure, I could fly out there, but that'd be a damned expensive airsoft trip, which I personally cannot afford.
There are also a lot of problems/ concerns you are not thinking of. Those of you under 18 would have more problems than you know driving across country. Getting a hotel room is one of the main ones. Also, what if you make it out to the skirm, but they have some issue with your waiver/ paper work. You just drove 2 days+ to not be able to skirm.
As for flying, transporting airsoft guns is about the same giant pain in the ass that transporting real steel is.
For those of you who want to try out a big out of state game, there are games much closer to WI. Try going out to MN or IL for a close to home game. there are other big "2 day" events held within a 6-8 hour drive too. Look around on the old web and you will find them.
But then again, I am one of those old timer's, at the ripe old age of 29, who likes to piss on your parades. So don't bother listening to me. Build up your hopes that you'll be able to rent a farmers field for a weekend and throw the most kick-ass skirm ever, even though you have no experience hosting a game. I'm sure you'll get 250+ people on your first go around.
Maple, thank you for gracing us with that fine dose of reality. Instead of Gandalf the White, we have Maple the Red. Long may you reign in the realm of truth. ;)

Why thank you Viper.
Here's an idea for those of you who haven't tried yet. Instead of going to an out of state game, head down to Dragon's Lair sometime. Not only would you get to play on a different field, you'd also get to meet Viper and DK (and those crazies that are on their team ;) )
Give it a try. You ain't seen sneaky until you walk into one of the Dragon's ambushes.... and trust me, it'll happen. (Damn you DK, damn you :) )

Maple the Red, it's genious and I will forever call you that, thank you Viper! My hobbit name is Benjo Longfoot should you care..
Anyways,
I want to post one thing relevant to the topic at hand. RTO I'll let you guys borrow my copy of Lion Claws III if you promise to get it back to me and that should tide you over till Red Venom 2 (I'm going Russian this next time for shizzle!!) Exotic out of state Op's are the rage till it gets down to brass tac's and pennies. It's then that you find out the tac's are really sharp and the pennies very few...

Hi guys,
Just a lurker at this point, but as far as driving...
It's not that bad really. It should take under 40 hours if you rotate shifts. I've done it a few times (out and back) with some friends, and if you rotate at least three guys (drive, sleep, shotgun, repeat) everytime you fill up or four hours, after a the first 12 hours it's a piece of cake. You won't be all worn out when you get there. It's best if you have a good space to sleep in each vehicle so you don't have sit up and try to catch your Z's otherwise you WILL get fatigued.
And as it's been said, it's not cheap no matter what. A couple days of work either side of the weekend, gas, food, supplies, entry fee... You can cut out a lot of cash by packing tons of sandwiches and stuff for the way out, and stopping at a grocery on the way back to do the same.
Sounds like a biatch to cram all that driving in, but it ends up being a blast if you're in good company! Heck, you might just want to keep driving once you get into the routine.
